Chapter 54: Results

Exiting his tent, Xuan Yueji sighed. He could not believe that Lu Lianhua would teleport him to the capital. Honestly, did he really have to tell him (LL) everything before he (LL) would follow his plans?

"Shuzhu! You're returning early from your excursion?" a soldier who was on duty asked upon seeing Xuan Yueji walking past the courtyard.

Sighing, Xuan Yueji nodded, "Yes. I plan to go back though."

"Eh? Shuzhu, did you not just return?" the soldier asked curiously. "Hm… Wait… Shuzhu, when did you return? I do not remember the messengers reporting your return."

Coughing with a hidden embarrassment, Xuan Yueji said, "I secretly last night. No one saw me return. I also dislike the rowdiness caused by having you guys to greet me."

"Ah, I understand," the soldier said, enlightened. "Shuzhu, when will you leave? Do you need us to prepare anything for you?"

"No need," Xuan Yueji answered. "Just make sure you stay consistent with your training. Also, tell the troops to use the method I've taught them. It will help them more compared to the one taught to them previously."

"Yes, I understand. I will make sure to pass down the orders," the soldier bowed with respect while Xuan Yueji left the courtyard with the intention to return to Yuezhong.

Just when Xuan Yueji left the barrack entrance, he heard Lu Lianhua's voice, "No need to go back."

Pausing in front of the entrance, Xuan Yueji quietly asked, "Are you sure? You don't need more time?"

"If I needed more time, I wouldn't have returned the body to you," Lu Lianhua stated.

Laughing to himself, Xuan Yueji admitted, "Ah, that's true. This lump of smarts surely would not have let me take back the body if he was not done investigating.

Outwardly though, Xuan Yueji asked, "What were the results?"

"I can't say with a definite answer that I know the source of this spell, but I do know that it is an ancient forbidden spell," Lu Lianhua said.

"Ancient and forbidden?" Xuan Yueji repeated in question.

"It's a spell that's been banned by the gods some million years ago. The thing is that none of the scrolls to learn those spells were destroyed, so it's not strange that one of these spells can be found now," Lu Lianhua said.

"Is it dangerous?" Xuan Yueji asked.

"Hm… This one… It's not dangerous as long as no one tweaks the center of the spell. I can't answer this question with a definite answer," Lu Lianhua answered.

"Why aren't you definite? Did something go wrong?" Xuan Yueji continued to ask.

Sighing to vent his frustration, Lu Lianhua explained, "It's not that something went wrong, but that I cannot find the center. Somebody intentionally hid it. Even after I used every single magic spell I knew, I still could not find a sign of the center. However, since it's so well hidden, I suspect that no one will have the chance to do anything to the center."

"If someone did find it, what's the most dangerous thing they can do?" Xuan Yueji asked with a facial expression that showed his deep thoughts.

"The most dangerous thing is that they can revert the effects of the spell," Lu Lianhua said with a grim voice and face.

"Revert? You mean get rid of the effects of the spell in total?" Xuan Yueji asked with a serious expression.

"No. That's just destroying the spell. Reverting means they would change the elements of the spell and make it bring disaster. Since the spell is a forbidden spell that affects a huge terrain, if someone wants to damage the empire, they can just remove a few items from the center or put a few more, and the empire would drown or other things can happen," Lu Lianhua answered.

"Other things?" Xuan Yueji repeated inquisitively.

Internally shaking his head, Lu Lianhua averted the question, "Yueji, don't ask anymore. Just make sure no one powerful comes near the forest. Though I can't tell where the center is, I can sense that it's near the forest. Also, it's better that when Xiao Xian wakes up, she doesn't go near the forest either."

"What's wrong?" Xuan Yueji frowned.

"I suspect… that she has something to do with the center being hidden," Lu Lianhua said briefly after some thought. "Though I do not know how she is involved specifically… I think that when the dimension was in chaos… she came here without my knowledge…"

Hearing his explanation, Xuan Yueji replied, "Alright, I understand. When she wakes up again, I'll make sure she doesn't go to Yuezhong at all."

As soon as Xuan Yueji responded in understanding, Lu Lianhua cut off their connection and left him alone. At the same time, since he stood at the entrance for so long with a frown, the soldiers were staring at him weirdly now. However, they did not dare say anything for he was a powerful person.

Though, there was a brave one that decided to go up to Xuan Yueji and ask, "Shuzhu… Is there something wrong?"

Getting knocked out of his deep thoughts, Xuan Yueji stared at the person that interrupted his thinking with a mean face first, but once he saw who it was, he went back to his normal, cool and calm expression. As he breathed out a sigh to calm down the clouds in his head and the intermixing thoughts, his black eyes that were dull shined again. The jewel that was on his mask turned from a pure and dull black to a shiny black that casted a shadow that separated from his body without anyone knowing.

"Oh, it's you," Xuan Yueji addressed. "I wondered who it was that was brave enough to interrupt me when I'm deeply engrossed in something."

Laughing nervously, the little brave person said, "Ah… haha… not brave at all… It's just that Shuzhu seemed to be entranced by something and this little person wanted to see if he could also be entranced by it."

Staring deeply into the eyes of that brave person, Xuan Yueji smirked, "Hm… Is that so? Haha… There are some things in the world that are much better off not known."

Saying that, Xuan Yueji left off as he continued laughing loudly as though amused by the person. He was not actually amused by that person, but pissed. In the entire garrison, the only person willing to outwardly go against him was this one person who seemed to be a loyal and innocent soldier, but deep inside, very villainous and a thorn.

However, Xuan Yueji did not plan to deal with the little man until he was done with the issues at Yuezhong. Although the little man was from a big family, it did not really matter to him since the person would not be creating troubles soon. Perhaps, when he has been promoted to lieutenant, the little man will start to cause problems.

Using his qinggong, Xuan Yueji once again traveled to Yuezhong. Since Lu Lianhua has spoken those words, he would set up some wards in the forest so that no one can enter it again. He would also ask the priests to keep outsiders from entering the forest.

He could not constantly keep watch on the forest and he did not want to ask the soldiers from the 17th regiment to help. Xuan Yueji knew that though soldiers knew how to conduct their code of ethics, there were some that were stupid enough to disobey rules and laws. Without trust, he could only give the role of watching the forest to the priests though it would be much better if he could summon spirits.

It was too bad that he had no knowledge on spiritual things, so he could not summon spirits. Xuan Yueji also could not tell Bai Shuixian about Yuezhong, so he could not ask her to summon spirits for him. Lu Lianhua only knew the concepts of spirits and not the spells.

Xuan Yueji sighed at his difficulties, "Oh, how much better it was to live inside the dimension."

Of course, he was just joking. Xuan Yueji knew the importance that he represented as the person who took over the most times out of everyone else. Though, he was also curious about why the dimension that once had dozens of people suddenly became a quiet world with only six people left.

Lu Lianhua was not willing to tell him though, so he could only be left to wonder. Anyhow, it did not matter at the end of the day since the chaos of that time probably did not have any effect on him. Even if it was just him that thought in such a unique way, he truly believed so even though he no longer remembered how long he had lived for in the dimension.

As Xuan Yueji reached the barracks for the 17th regiment, he noticed that all the soldiers had already filed up in clean orderly lines. What was going on? Did something happen while he was missing overnight?
