Chapter 144: Moon

Goliath smirked at me.

"What?" I growled.

"Nothing," Goliath kept up the smirk, "The wolves are reacting more aggressively this year than last year."

"Reacting to what exactly?" I dropped Soren like a sack of potatoes.

"The moon's rise," Goliath picked up Soren.

Throwing him over his shoulder.

"Werewolves are more powerful under the moon," Goliath continued, "They have a harder time controlling themselves when their power is boosted by the moonlight."

"So that's why they built the underground hideout?" I felt a smirk forming on my own face, "Can I watch them?"

"I usually just lock them in the basement, and check them in the morning," Goliath shrugged, "I watch their vitals carefully, and intervein if it's needed, but usually they're fine on their own. Camera's don't last long down there so they stopped bothering. What do you want me to do?" Goliath chuckled, "Lock you down there with them?"

"Sure," I bobbed my head, "They're not strong enough to kill me. I'll be fine."

"I don't think that's a good idea," Ethan frowned.

"I have the size advantage," I could feel my heartrate picking up, "Plus this sounds interesting."

"Interesting?" Goliath started chuckling, "The things you find entertaining. I don't see a problem with it, but the tracker will bring them right to you."

"What happens when the watch gets shorted out?" I looked down at the thin watchband.

"All the watchbands functions stop until it can be repaired," Goliath crossed his arms, "It takes about an hour for the self repair to kick back in. It can take a few hours to a day for it to repair all the damage depending on how much damage is done to it."

I dumped a massive amount of electricity into my little watch. It cracked, and popped like a firecracker. The excess electricity spread across my scales.

"Hey," Goliath was surprised by the sudden taste of ozone in the air, "You're going to have to explain how you broke that."

"I'm only a level four," I smiled slowly, "I get beat up all the time for no apparent reason."

"Fine," Goliath rubbed the back of his head slowly, "You can't just keep breaking school property."

"I still think it's a bad idea," Ethan complained as I pulled the door shut.

I switched forms, and got dressed quickly before stepping back out of my room.

"Let's go," I was still smiling slightly when it occurred to me.

My watch hadn't shrunk with me so it fell off when I switched. I grabbed the thin watchband, and hung it on the door.

"I guess I didn't need to shock it so badly," I closed my door.

Leaving my watch on the inside. I followed Goliath quietly. Soren was just starting to stir when we got to the bunker. I hesitated at the top because of the narrow staircase, but curiosity drove me forward anyways. Once we got to the bottom of the stairs Goliath pulled a cot out of the wall, and dropped Soren on it.

"You're sure you can handle it down here?" Goliath glanced back at me.

"I'll be fine," I switched back to my original form.

My voice deepening as I changed. Not enough to make a huge difference, but enough that I could tell.

"I have the size advantage," I picked up the destroyed table from my last visit.

Bending a leg outward, and slicing the excess off so it became a spike.

"That, and this," I stabbed the sharp metal into my hand.

Instead of actually going in the metal snapped. Not leaving even so much as a scratch on my tough scales.

"So what?" Grett grumbled, "You think you're tough. Why did you bring this thing down here?"

"I asked if I could come," I growled in response to being called a thing.

Grett growled back.

"You three have fun," Goliath grabbed the door about to close it, "I don't want to get scratched up again."

"Wait," Grett stood up reaching Goliath's direction, "Don't leave him down here."

The door locks clicked.

"Oh no," I murmured in mock horror, "I guess I'm locked in."

"What the hell are you trying to pull you big stupid beast?" Grett yelled at me.

I growled at him angrily. Curling my lip up so he could see all my teeth at once. Hair started to spread across his skin as he growled back. Soren got up, and rubbed his head.

"Quit making so much noise," Soren growled at us, "I've had enough of all this stupidity."

Soren started changing, but his change was much faster than Grett's. Progressing to full half wolf in the time it took Grett just to grow a few hairs.

"Why won't you tell me?" Soren jumped at me.

Soren's rage seemed to give Grett a jumpstart as well. Making him shift to his full half wolf form as well.

Warning. Pack mentality is in effect. Alfa, and all nearby subordinates have boosted stats.

"As if that makes any difference," My tail lashed out.

Knocking them both back. They both recovered quickly, and rushed me again. I slashed at them with my claws. Soren was barely nicked since he was faster than Grett by enough to get around my talons. Grett took the full blow, and was thrown back.

Soren's teeth latched onto the lower portion of my neck. It didn't hurt. My wings twitched as my irritation started to turn to anger. Grett was healing quickly. My slashes weren't deep enough to be fatal to begin with so now that his healing had kicked in he was basically unharmed.

I'd hurt him badly so that he would stay down, but he'd just gotten back up as if nothing had happened. I growled at them both. My size advantage could also be considered a size disadvantage depending on the environment. I grabbed Soren, and tossed him into the wall with enough force to make an indent. Grett tried to bit into my arm next.

He jarred a few scales loose drawing a thin line of blood. Barely more than a papercut, but it was still enough to turn my irritation to rage. I lashed my whole body in a rage. Doing damage to everything around me including the walls. This wild thrashing movement of mine as enough to do a significant amount of damage to both wolves, but it was only a few broken bones, and some deep cuts.
