Chapter 164: Sick

I sat down not far from where Savannah, and Goliath were discussing. Keeping my head down the whole time. If I openly starting coughing the camera's would probably catch it. I checked my appearance. I didn't look sick.

Not physically. I guess my camouflage hid the fact that I was sick. Ethan was headed this way.

"Ethan's coming," I stood up slowly, "If I don't use anymore mana for a while I should be fine right?"

"Yeah," Savannah looked like she still wanted to talk to Goliath, "Minimal mana use. I know you can't stop using mana entirely, but that is the fastest way to recover."

I left with Ethan once he got there. He helped me cover up the sparks when I coughed on the way back to the room. I switched back as soon as I got to my room. I kept scorching track marks of electricity into the floor every time I went into a coughing fit.

"We're going to have to fix the room again aren't we?" I chuckled mostly to myself.

"You sure you're alright?" Ethan came over, and reached out to me, "Shit." He stopped short of actually touching me, "You're really hot."

"Gee thanks," I smiled tensely, "I hadn't noticed."

"No I swear," Ethan frowned, "If this room wasn't fire resistant it would already be on fire."

"Minimal mana use," I mumbled as I cast freeze zone directly below my body.

I was too tired to do anything much right now as I focused on settling my chaotic mana flow. I kept at it until my mana flow started to circulated properly. My body temperature started to fall quickly. The urge to cough went away. I didn't feel hot anymore.

I smiled to myself slowly. My exhaustion suddenly let up. My mana flow stayed stable no matter how long I waited for it to go back to being chaotic. Did I really recover just like that?

Yes. Dragon's have a really short recovery time for mana abuse.

I wasn't expecting myself to recover so quickly. I messaged Savannah, and Goliath. Letting them know that I'd already recovered. Savannah started heading for my room right away. She didn't message me back.

Goliath just messaged me back a few minutes later. Letting me know that he was waiting to see how I was doing in the morning before acting anyways. Savannah got there less than a minute later. Ethan opened the door for her.

"What do you mean you've recovered already?" Savannah grabbed my horns pulling my head close.

She looked me over carefully.

"You really did recover," Savannah stepped back with a look of confusion on her face, "That's just not fair."

"Nope," I chuckled with a smile, "But it's just the way things are."

Savannah looked a little upset about this turn of events. I didn't blame her all that much since the fact that I could recover in just a few hours was practically cheating compared to the human recovery time. This wouldn't be as much of a problem as Savannah made it out to be. So what if I ended up coughing up sparks again? If I could get over it in less than half a day then it wouldn't affect much.

I almost started laughing again. My muscles tensed slowly as I thought about Savannah's current distress. I decided against making thread tonight so I could find out just how many nights in a row I could go to sleep with nothing in my reserve. My wings twitched as I slowly started to doze off.

"Hey Ethan," I smiled, "Can you grab me some meat?"

"Yeah no problem," Ethan shut off his desk monitor, "I was pretty much done with what I was doing anyways."

It didn't take him long to get me meat. I fell asleep shortly after eating. Then I fell back into my routine. I found out that I would need to take a rest day after every two weeks of going to bed with an empty mana reserve. That was when my mana started getting chaotic again anyways.

I could probably stretch it a bit further if I really needed to. I didn't let my energy get chaotic enough to make me sick again. I'd been mostly focused on my physical abilities the last couple weeks so my magical skills, and abilities started to stagnate. I could focus on that once I was in an area where I was less four greats fire death. There were only two weeks left until the whole trip to another planet thing.

I completely lost track of time, but I was finally getting enough thread to think that I might actually be able to make something out of it. I debated on whether I should level up in advance, but the size of my room was one of the main reasons I wasn't to excited about leveling up. I thought it over for a little while, and decided I would hold off on leveling up until we were on the other planet. Once I got the chance to level up there I would take it. I was pretty sure Goliath would be able to help fix the whole sleeping arrangement problem I had.

Even if it meant me not sleeping with the rest of the group it would be better than getting discovered. I knew my time here was going to be short. I was actually kind of surprised by how well I'd held up until now. I never thought I would have lasted this long in the first place. The first week passed way too quickly.

We managed to get enough credits for the scanner I wanted in time for me to buy it outright. It hurt my wallet. I didn't even want to think about how much I spent on it. Now we just needed to test it out. The scanner itself was just a small backpack type thing that linked up to it's own scanner watch. I was kind of worried about what would happen if the watch that went to the scanner got lost.
