Chapter 203: Dragon's pride
I refilled my mana reserve from the crystal I had stored within myself.
Storm dragon's wrath activated.
My stats all doubled. I dodged his next wave of flames, and closed in on him quickly. The surprise on his face when I suddenly appeared next to him only slightly appeased my rage. I lashed out with my claws. Cutting five long lines into the membrane of his wings as he used them to block my attack.
Raged twisted his once very human face as his skin reddened. Turning the same color as his flames. A single black horn pierced through the middle of his forehead as the white of his eyes turned red, and the color turned black.
"You bastard," He held out his hand, and blasted me with a single concentrated beam of fire.
I was thrown back as the fire burned through my scales, and started scorching my flesh. I healed myself with mana from the dragon crystal as memories from the crystal flooded my mind.
"I don't have time for this!" I shouted to empty my lungs before inhaling.
I breathed ice into the middle of the beam of flame. Steam spread from the point where the flames, and ice met. Breathing elements consumed much less mana then casting spells, and I'm up against a magic user with much more mana than myself so I had to save mana wherever I could. I was starting to get really worried as I started to run out of breath. All resistance to my breath attack vanished as the beam of fire that had been coming from the front this entire time suddenly started coming from behind.
The flames burned a hole straight through my left wing. Burning a chunk out of my left side as well as wiping out a good portion of my left arm. The mana crystal I had stored within started healing my injuries immediately. Flooding my mind with foreign memories. Having peaceful memories flood my mind while in the middle of a battle didn't help when it came to keeping my mind in the fight.
I flinched as I was hit by another beam of flames from the right. My instincts didn't even have time to warn me about the attacks. They were screaming at me as if the attacks could come from anywhere, and everywhere at once.
Storm dragon wrath passive skill deactivating. Earth affinity level up. Earth affinity now level 2. Spatial understanding has improved.
Not now system. Save all notifications for when I survive this.
Understood. Notification delivery will be temporarily postponed.
Thank god. I tried to get my bearings. I lunged back to avoid a sword strike from the front. Fire, wings, and the horns. I winced as the blade managed to graze my chest anyways. He must be a member of the demon race.
I was stupid to rush in. The more human a demon can make themselves look, the more powerful they were. This one looked almost entirely human before he dropped the disguise. The only thing that was off about his human appearance was the wings. He had to be a high demon.
His mana reserve was on the tier-less level, and I hadn't gotten close enough to get an accurate measurement of his physical strength. He didn't seem faster than me, but those wide area, and long range flame attacks seemed to negate my speed advantage. The fact that I was using mana from the crystal to heal myself was a disadvantage for me as well. All the memories I absorbed with that mana were constantly flooding my mind.
Destroying my line of thought in the process. Suddenly he was behind me again. I knew he was there, and I tried to lounge forward like the last time he'd come at me from behind, but he anticipated me doing something like that. His blade sliced through me diagonally. The slash went clean through my right shoulder, slicing my wing off, and rendering most of my right side useless.
I felt no pain since my body had already gone into shock as I took advantage of my long neck. Rearing up, and flinging my head back for a chance to take a bite out of him. He looked surprised for a split second as he teleported himself away. My teeth snapping fractions of an inch from his body, and losing the tip of my nose to the spatial distortion as the space around where he'd been standing snapped back to normal. He hadn't expected me to continue coming after him when I was this wounded.
The mana crystal ran out before I could finish healing myself so I had to use mana directly from my reserve to continue healing myself. My slashed off wing re-growing itself at a remarkable pace. Goliath hadn't been sitting idle this whole time either. He'd used those large scale flame attacks as a smoke screen to hide his movements. All that mist I'd created helped him hide his movements as well.
All my desperate fighting had given him the opening he'd been looking for as he slammed his truck sized fist down on the spot where the demon was standing. The demon looked up in surprise at the massively over sized fist coming his way, and simply portaled away once again. He scoffed at us, and raised his hand to point at Goliath. Flames of different sized slowly formed a pentagram around him. All the mana in the area flowed towards him in such concentrated amounts that even the human behind me might be able to see the mana threads. The demon smirked as the flame mana within him resonated with what ever spell he was casting right now.
"Goliath!" I used almost all of what was left of my reserve to heal myself.
Goliath shrank down faster than I'd ever seen him do before, but he still wouldn't be able to dodge in time. All the mist that had been created by our fire, and ice exchange earlier. Goliath was going to be burned alive. I was certain he wouldn't be able to dodge the attack even if he did manage to shrink down to his normal human size. I rushed towards Goliath.
