Chapter 357: 9

Ethan discussed it with Goliath over the phone. Occasionally handing it off to Savannah when necessary. I didn't need to get on the phone with Ethan acting as my middle man. I could hear everything that was discussed through him, and Ethan knew all my thoughts on the subject since he had free access to my mind. Goliath didn't see any major problems with our current plan of action.

The first step of the plan was to head out into the wilds. That meant getting approval from Calen to leave the guild on a long run. Not that he could really stop us if we decided to go out anyway. It was a more of a common curtesy. That much I could give him.

I took my human form, and headed to his office quietly. I didn't know if that girl had taken us up on her offer to interview us. I had my hands in my pockets as I crossed the guild. A relaxed stride that made me stand out a bit in the way I moved. The tension from the attack, and the knowledge that the lizardmen greatly outnumbered them wasn't sitting well.

There was even a lizardman walking around the guild with a human escort right now. He seemed to be trying to learn English. The broken English he was using now wasn't bad considering how new the truce was. Regala had managed to set them up with a good start. It would only stay a good start as long as both sides tried to keep it that way.

I just ignored them. It didn't take me long to get to the main building where his office was. I knocked on the door of his office casually. I realized that the door was probably sound proofed like the rest of the room, and clicked the button by the door. I couldn't remember if it was a doorbell or just the sort of thing that sent him a text or something. My muscles tensed as I waited outside the door.

He wouldn't leave me alone out here for long. The door opened about ten minutes later. By then I'd moved back, and leaned against the wall by the door so I wouldn't be in his face when he finally opened the door. Calen looked confused for a moment before he realized who I was.

"I would like to go on a long run," I stated, "Into the wilds with my team."

Calen winced when a pompous shouting cut him off before he could respond.

"What the hell are you doing here?" the reporter shouted at me angrily, "The network is having a meltdown after your little stunt." he jabbed his finger at my chest, "You may be one of that beast's little pets, but that doesn't give you the right to promise an exclusive to that useless technopath bitch."

I grabbed his finger aggressively. A hiss went through my teeth as they sharpened. Scales spread around the edge of my face, and down my arms. I quick jerk of my hand was enough to break this guy's finger. The scream, and obvious terror at my bloodlust as it washed over him.

"I'm no ones pet," I snarled as I slammed him into the wall where I'd just been standing, "Pissing off a dragon is never a good idea." I straightened his broken finger with another quick jerk, "If you forget that again I'll do a lot more then break your finger."

Light element flowed into the broken finger. Healing it so there was no sign of my attack on his person. It took me a few seconds to pull the bloodlust back in, and return to my normal human appearance before letting him fall to the ground unscathed. I cracked a tense spot in my neck before looking him in the eyes again.

"I can give MY exclusive to anyone I want," The almost bestial way I said it sound wrong for a human throat.

I switched to infrared as I walked with Calen into his office so I could watch the little worm flee. Sitting down in the chair across from where Calen usually sat as if nothing had just happened.

"You know I can't allow violence like that," Calen sighed as he closed the door.

"That guy gets on my nerves," I answered as if it were a legitimate reason.

Calen didn't sound angry so I wasn't too worried.

"Try not to do it again," he continued calmly as he came to sit in his own chair, "About this long run you mentioned." he brought his eyes up to focus on me, "How long are you planning on leaving?"

"Not sure," I shrugged, "I need to get some serious training done."

"It's not just a run then," he nodded, "More like an expedition. Who do you plan on bringing?"

"Just Savannah, Ethan, and Jax," I shrugged, "Maybe a few more."

"Like who?" he questioned.

"That blacksmith kid," I answered.

"Why him?" Calen leaned forward onto his elbows.

"He like collecting my scales, and experimenting with them," I inhaled slowly, "I'm sure I could carry a portable forge for him. That armor he made has come in handy, and those daggers react to my mana."

"How far out do you plan on going?" Calen frowned.

"About a week out on foot," I shrugged, "Some of the spells I cast have a rather large area of effect. I don't want to be close to the guild if something goes awry."

"What's going to happen to your people if one of your spells go awry?" he looked concerned.

"Nothing," I smirked, "My magic cannot harm my allies. I'll show you later if you want."

"The only problem I see with your whole plan is the blacksmith kid," Calen laced his fingers together.

"If I'm concerned for his safety I could always teleport him back here," I shrugged.

"I want to talk to the kid first," Calen straightened, "He needs to know the risks before he runs out on an adventure with you."
