Chapter 10: HE'S NOT MY BOYFRIEND
The library was filled with people; I didn’t know that many students get detention. I head towards the librarian.
''Katherine Williams'' I say my name and he examines the name on the file and gives a tick mark, I return him a small smile and sit at the last bench of the library where no one could see me. I relaxed and started doing my calculus homework. Suddenly the chair beside me was pulled and someone occupied that seat, I don’t fret on checking who it was, so I continued doing my work
‘’ do you have accounting?’’ a familiar voice questions, I glance up and see it was Jace and I greet him
‘’Hey Jace’’
’’Hey Katherine, you got detention?’’ he asked in a perplexed tone
‘’yeah’’ I sighed ‘’I forgot to carry Mr. Shaws’ books furthermore I was late in his class as well so here I am’’
‘’oh okay. Do you have the Subject accounting?’’
‘’yeah I do’’
‘’Can you check what’s wrong in the trial balance, please’’ he asks pleadingly,
‘’yeah sure’’ I say returning a small smile.
‘’can you check mine as well’’ another voice asks, taking the other seat beside me
‘’yeah sure’’ I say, nodding in approval
‘’My name is James by the way’’ he says smiling at me
‘’Katherine’’ I smile back
‘’I know’’
‘’James?’’ Jace asks
‘’hey man’’ James says doing a bro-shake if that thing exists
‘’what brings you here?’’
‘’The same thing you are here; the fucking trial balance!’’ he says sounding annoyed
‘’okay, I am checking out what’s wrong’’
Soon the boys start talking about NFL and I continue reviewing, why their trial balance was not matching. After maybe 15 minutes I figured out both their mistakes and looked up from the notebooks only to find, every seat of the table where I was seating were occupied by the football players. I turned my face towards Jace
‘’umm here Jace you didn’t include the Wages part that’s why it was not matching’’
‘’really? That’s the mistake?!’’ he says exasperatedly
‘’and James your mistake is you wrote 6500 as 9500’’
‘’Thank god, now I don’t feel like the dumbest person on earth’’ Jace says laughing his ass off ‘’I mean seriously man, who writes 6500 as 9500’’
‘’it was just a mere mistake, at least I didn’t avoid a whole entry’’ James says rolling his eyes and I quietly laugh at their encounters and see just across me Christian seating and chatting with some other players and laughing, wasn’t he the one telling me not to follow him??
‘’Now guys, won’t you introduce your little friend here?’’ a guy seating beside Christian asks Jace and James and I instantly feel Christian’s eyes on me but I don’t look back at them
‘’yeah, so this is Katherine, Katherine he is Mark’’ I greet and nod at him
After introducing me to the whole football team one of the boys asks,
‘’you are Nathan’s girlfriend right?’’ Eli, I guess his name was, he asked. Come on! I am not that good with names
‘’You mean Nathan Black?’’ I ask,
‘’yeah’’ and now every eye on the table were on me.
‘’Don't. TELL. ME!’’ James says putting his head down
‘’Ummm, no he’s not my boyfriend, he’s my neighbor and his mother and my mother are friends. Why did you ask though?’’
‘’because I felt I saw you somewhere then I remembered about the picture, Nathan had posted during Christmas with you, so I thought you might be his girlfriend’’ I laugh at this
‘’Well no, last year they didn’t go to England to celebrate Christmas so we and they celebrated it together’’ I say smiling at the thought.
‘’You really shouldn’t date him’’ another boy named Sam says
‘’why?’’ I aks furrowing my eyebrows. Nathan is one of the guys that girls drool over and would do anything to be his girlfriend, so this question caught me off-guard.
‘’because he from the opposing team’’
‘’That doesn’t make sense, don’t you guys sleep with the girls of other schools? You do, so why dating the football player of the opposing team, is a problem? I don’t get it’’ I asked sounding annoyed and all of them were silent
‘’you want to date him?’’ Christian asks clenching his jaw
‘’what? No.’’ he eventually relaxes what’s up with him? ‘’what I mean is, if you guys can sleep with girls of other schools; so can the girls sleep or date the boys of other schools.’’
‘’yeah she’s right guys stop acting like immatures’’ Jace says
And they all apologize for acting like a dick EXCEPT! GUESS WHO?? CHRISTIAN.
‘’you are feminist’’ James points out as if he’s done a hell of an observation.
‘’well talking about equality doesn’t make me feminist’’ I roll my eyes

‘’ does, Katherine-‘’ he was cut off
‘’guys you guys are fighting like five-year-olds. And James If she doesn’t
like being called feminist don’t call her that’’
‘’excuse me, I am not saying I am not feminist, it’s just talking about equality doesn’t make me fall in being feminist’’
‘’yeah right’’ James rolls his eyes.
''Hey Chris, you have the same sweatshirt right?'' Jace says to Christian and I freeze on my spot. Slowly I draw my head up to see, what he replies
''Yeah,'' he says directly looking at me with a smirk, a challenging look crossing over his face, as if telling me what-will-you-do-now?
''Really?'' I sounded surprised, ''it's my brother's sweatshirt'' I reply to Jace and smirk towards Christian, who looked pissed.
''Brother?'' Christian asks sounding annoyed
''Correct. Brother.'' I say emphasizing 'r'
‘’oh, now where was I? yeah um, so Katherine on Saturday there’s a party and you are invited’’ Jace says flashing me a million-dollar smile.
‘’I will think about it, can I bring some friends?’’
‘’you mean Emily?’’
‘’yeah I mean Emily and Cyrus’’
‘’yeah sure no problem, I will be more than happy if Emily comes’’ he says the last part softly but I catch it but let it go.
I don’t go to numerous parties but Cyrus and Emily force me to go and abandon me so, I stay home most of the time. I don’t even want to go to this party but I guess it can’t be that bad. I texted Emily and Cyrus asking if they wanna go and they immediately replied by saying yes! and Yes! Honestly, there was no necessity of asking them. Even if I informed them on Saturday, they would have agreed.
‘’cool they agreed, though I knew they would have never disagreed’’ I say rolling my eyes at the thought
‘’Then I can pick you guys up from your place?’’
‘’I don’t wanna bother you’’
‘’trust me you are not, it’s fine with me and I am quite familiar with the address so it’s fine’’
‘’Okay, thank you’’ I gave him a genuine smile
After talking for another 20 minutes the librarian dismisses us. I walk towards the parking lot and groan forgetting my SUV’s probably with baby mum I was going to exit the parking lot in the hope of catching a bus but then a familiar voice shouts my name
‘’Williams!’’ I turn around and see Jace calling my name and Christian standing beside him
‘’yes!’’
‘’need a ride?!’’ Jace asks
‘’Nope’’ I say waving my hand
‘’come on! I know your car’s not here and the bus left about 5 minutes ago’’ he says checking the time
‘’urgh! I am so sorry, I don’t wanna fret you’’ I say nearing them.
‘’for the millionth time Katherine you are not bothering us, secondly, I need to be familiar with your house to pick you guys up on Saturday right? And also stop saying you are bothering me or anyone of us because we are friends, this is the least we can do’’
I kept staring at him for 10 seconds and ‘’that was a hell of a speech’’ I say clapping my hands and he rolls his eyes,
''Please get on the car before I change my mind'' he says in a playful manner.
Soon I hop on the back seat and Christian sits in the front, I tell him my address and zone out when they start talking about football. I keep staring outside the window and soon my eyelids start being heavy and I blackout.
