Chapter 42: Chapter forty two- YOLO!!!
Gabriel kept running ducking down and evading every so often as he ran, he didn't have to evade so much now that Luffy and Sanji were going all out. He was still surprised that they had become this strong already because of watching him and learning from his training but he wasn't going to look a gift horse in the mouth and kept running.
But as he did his eyes widened as he felt vibrations growing up ahead of them and he reached out with his senses and that's when he felt them, a group of Lapahns farther ahead of them were jumping up and down and instantly Gabriel remembered what was coming next, "Crap!" he yelled before looking back at Sanji and Luffy, "Avalanche!" he called in warning.
Both Luffy and Sanji looked to him and then ahead of them just as the snow began to shake loose and fall.
"Run!" Luffy yelled as they started running back down the mountain.
Gabriel cursed as he crouched down before launching himself up into the air with Geppo and kept climbing until he was above the avalanche and watched as it kept falling before turning and started to head towards the mountain once again.
Traveling through the air Gabriel found his way to the mountain much quicker and landed at its base in the snow to catch his breath before looking back down the snowy slops not seeing either Sanji or Luffy anywhere.
'I don't have time to wait around, I need to get Nami up there, she's first priority right now' Gabriel thought to himself before looking up the vertical slope of the mountain in front of him, it was bloody tall.
'this is really going to be pushing my limits climbing this with Geppo, but it will be good training' Gabriel thought to himself as he held Nami's legs a little bit more tightly before crouching down to launch himself and once more took off into the air using Geppo.
The air got cold and thin as he climbed higher and higher still. He waited until the apex of his jump each time before kicking off the air again to launch himself higher, jumping about three of four feet with every bound. It was doubly as taxing on his stamina because he was carrying Nami with him also and although she didn't weigh as much as him it was still straining.
'Damn I wish I had left more points to put into Geppo to make this easier' Gabriel hissed in his mind as he kept going.
Gabriel lost count of how many bounds he took after he reached somewhere into the two hundreds and he still had a ways to go, his legs were burning, his chest was feeling heavy and his grip on Nami was starting to loosen but he powered through and kept going kicking the air with everything he had until finally the apex of the mountain was in sight and he let out a sigh of relief as he made it to the edge and launched himself and Nami over it.
Landing on shaky legs Gabriel took a knee panting trying to get his breath back after his climb knowing that now the hardest part was done. Shaking his head, he began to get to his feet after a few minutes and started to make his way to the castle one step at a time.
'Next time I'm freaking taking the lift' he thought to himself before pausing and groaning, why hadn't he thought about that before. He just hadn't been thinking about the lift that was connected to Kureha's old house it could have saved them a pile of trouble if they had just taken it, 'oh well its good training, I'll have to go down and get Luffy and Sanji after this anyway' he thought to himself as he finally reached the doors of the castle and made his way inside.
The interior of the castle wasn't much warmer given how the front doors were laying wide open, but he didn't care. Making his way to the stairs Gabriel began to look for the room there the doctor pair had set up shop and it didn't take him long to find it.
Getting Nami inside he closed the door and got her to the bed and covered up to keep warm the second she was in bed Gabriel heard the familiar bell sound in his head and he turned away to view the screen that it brought up.
Quest Complete: Doctor Doctor

Get Nami to a doctor as quick as you can
Don't stop to fight any Lapahn

Gabriel smirked when he saw the first screen, apparently just getting Nami here was enough to fulfil the quest so he guessed that everything else would play out as canon dictated, and it also seemed that he had received his first optional quest, and it looked to be interesting.
He wanted some payback on those Lapahns after they had given them such a hard time getting up here, but at the same time he didn't want to kill them, so defeating them seemed like the best option to him. Plus he really wanted to test himself out against those Alpha's that the system had created, if they knew both Soru and Geppo then they should prove to be a challenge at least.
But he didn't think he was in any state to take them on right now, he needed to rest after that climb of his, his legs were still a little shaky. So, he made his way to an armchair and sat down to rest for a bit and decided to spin the two silver raffle tokens that he had gotten from the quest to see what he could pull.
So, with a mental command he spun the silver wheel twice and two screens came up in front of him showing his rewards

Gabriel looked at his two rewards and smirked, they were good, bringing up his profile he could see after his latest quest he was sitting on just over a thousand AP, so more couldn't hurt, and the AP increasers were also something that intrigued him, he didn't know just how much they increased his skill limit so he went into his inventory to check them out.
Grade two AP increaser
Increases the maximum AP limit of any skill by 500AP per use.
That made it pretty clear to him after reading that screen, with those four that he had just won he could now increase the max of any of his skills by two thousand, and after the last island and the skill book now sitting in his inventory gathering dust he knew just what skill he was going to use them on.

Gabriel grinned seeing that and knew his limit was now only a few more upgrades away before it would reach the amount required, but he would still have a long way to go in terms of swordsmanship before then. With that in mind he used the three silver AP tokens he had gotten to get some more AP.

Gabriel smirked seeing the numbers he had just gained, they weren't the best he could have gotten but that didn't matter, he could make it up in the long run with more training. He opened his profile to look at his numbers.

Gabriel nodded to himself, his points and cash were looking good it was time he upgraded himself some more and opened his skills to browse them before after a few minutes just decided to divide a portion of them up between his swordsmanship and combat strength, putting five hundred into each of them before putting three hundred into his combat stamina, and rounding up his Geppo skill to two hundred to make it easier to use.
Closing the screens after a moment he closed his eyes as he felt his body and mind flood with energy as the knowledge of how to use swords more effectively flooded his mind and his energy returned to him the same time as his muscles on his body grew warm and started to swell and contract at the same time. It took several long seconds for the feeling to pass before it finally faded away and Gabriel smiled as he stood up, his legs no longer shaky. That was more like it.
Taking a couple of seconds to stretch Gabriel left the room and began to head back outside leaving Nami in bed as he walked over to the edge of the mountain and looked down as a smirk came to his face, 'well, let's see if my guess about that hidden quest is right… YOLO' he thought before holding his arms out by his side and let himself fall forward and off the mountain.
The air rushed by him as he fell, his heart thumping in his chest as he fell. He had never been sky diving in his past life and he always wanted to do it, this was intense. He could feel the air cutting at his skin as he flew down towards the ground at high speed letting out a cry of excitement that was lost on the winds and grinned as the ground came into sight.
Orientating himself as best he could he began to kick off the air to slow his decent, but as he fell he knew after a few seconds that he was still coming in to fast and winced, this might hurt. He kicked faster but he only slowed down a little bit before with a mighty thud he hit the snow at the bottom and found himself buried in a mound at least twenty feet deep.
"ow" Gabriel groaned as he lay there shaking his head, yep that had hurt but luckily not by a lot, 'thank you system for the battle endurance' he thought to himself, if he still had a regular body he was sure that he would be in a lot more pain than what he was.
He lay there panting letting his heart calm down from his free fall, and as he did a quest completion screen appeared in front of him and he smirked realising that the jump had been what was needed for the hidden quest to be completed but when his eyes reached the rewards his mouth hung open as he saw what the last reward was.
Hidden Quest: Base Jumper
Goals:
Jump off the Drum Rockies and freefall to the ground
Reward: 1 gold raffle token, 500AP, Devil fruit radar feature
Gabriel did not know what to think other than what immediately came to his mind, 'hell fuck'n yeah!'
