Chapter 47: Do it fast
"You have been talking like you know him since ages, Sam! " Jake blurted.
"I do! " She answered.
"What!? "Jake says, turning his face towards Sam.
" Nothing.Just drive. "
They pulled in front of the apartment. Samantha stormed out of the car without bading goodbye to Jake. He stood there with the car keys on his hand trying to figure out what she meant. Later he walked to his own room.
The next day;
Jake woke up with an annoyed face as he somehow managed to walk towards the door.
"I am coming! God, if the door breaks you are gonna for it! " He said, rubbing his eyes.
The person knocked again as if it was of no use what Jake said now.
"Aah… who is this bustard? "
He finally opens the door with that same annoyed face to see Sam standing right in front of him.
"Oh! Samantha. " He greets with a smile.
"Keys." She brings her palm just in front of his face faking a smile.
"Yeah, wait. " He goes in but when he did not return in a minute Sam went inside to check.
He was in the kitchen making breakfast.
"I am waiting outside for the keys and you are here cooking? " Sam asked.
"Come on! Join me. " He said.
"It's 11 already and you are having breakfast now? We have to go for investigation. Remember? "
Sam takes a seat in the counter to face Jake.
"I remember and that is why you have to wait for me. Let me at least have a toast? '
" Do it fast. "
Jake quickly stuffs his mouth with a buttered toast and they headed to the location. He did not get to dress up because Sam dragged him by his hand.
They reached the politicians house and saw the team already waiting for them.
"I guess we are late. " Jake confronted.
"You guess?! " Sam said, rolling her eyes.
"You are late. We already found the documents and now we just need to send them to the police. " Mon said as soon as she saw them.
"Where were you, Jake? " Sid snaps with a sharp glare at Jake and Sam.
"We were stuck in the traffic! " Sam answered before Jake could answer.
Jake glanced at her in confusion.
"If there is nothing else I think I can call it a day." Sam stated looking at Mr Dayal for permission.
"Okay if you have something important you can leave. " Mr Dayal said.
"Thank you. Jake, let's go. "
"Am I going too? " Jake asked.
"Of course, are you not coming in the same car? "
"Oh yeah. "
Sam left the campus and was now waiting for Jake outside the gate. A few moments later he came running towards her.
"What was that? " He asked huffing.
"What? "
"What what? Why were you talking as if something really big happened. "
"Nothing.We don't have anything to do now so it's better to leave. " She said and turned to walk on.
Jake grasped her by the arm and turned her to face him. She froze the moment their eyes met as the breeze continued to sway her hair all over the face. Jake now holds her a little tighter as puts those hair strands on the back of her ear.
"Why don't you just make a ponytail."He said.
Sam took a step back and then released herself from his hold.
" Why don't you just talk without touching? "She snapped back.
Jake could not help but smile at her words.
" Okay now tell me what is all this? Last night you were behaving strangely and now too. What's going on? And by the way,Sid asked me a question not you. That's not even important, why did you lie to him? " He asked.
"Are you done? I was just thinking of going home early so I guess that's the reason. " She replied.
Jake stared at her with narrow eyes.
"That's all? " He asked again.
Sighed "Okay, I was also planning to go on shopping! " She somehow managed to put something out.
"All right. I am coming too. " Jake said.
