Chapter 22: Resentful
During the first few days he stalked her all day long. After some time, he moved in as her neighbour so he could keep a close watch on her. She was the one who came and introduced herself. From then, she started to behave in a friendly manner as he made her believe that he was a good man.
At first he was plotting to kill her but eventually he started to like her company. Hunter was an orphan by birth. He had an unpleasant childhood. There was no one to love and take care of him even a little bit. So even though they merely ran across each other once in a while and their meetings were short, Hunter began to cherish them. He started liking to see her very often. Started to feel at ease around her.
After many days of continuous discussions, he convinced his clan to give him some time off.
He joined the gym she was going and became her gym instructor.
And thus he gradually forgot the actual reason he was there.
Suddenly he wanted to have a normal life. The life with a wife and children. The life which would give only happy memories to cherish. The life he never had. He wanted to live it with Ann.
He understood that she had forgotten about her past life. She didn't remember any bit about her parents or Michael. Not even himself, who she clearly had seen pushing her to the vast ocean without any mercy. He thought everybody forgot about her existence. After all, it had almost been four years now since that incident had happened.
And thus he started to make advances towards Ann. But he always knew something was off, something was holding her back. Even though she smiled there was no sparkle in her eyes. The sparkle she had when Michael was around.
Four years back, when he had initially got the task,
He had stalked Ann for almost a month to plan her murder.
During that time he had seen her true happiness. She was always bursting with joy. Sunshine flooded her soul. And that sunshine was Michael. Michael was always there beside her. There was pure love. No words were necessary to explain. Just their gaze towards each other was enough.
Her giggles, his laughter and their love towards each other could make anyone jealous of them. All this made Hunter resentful too. The happiness he never had and the love he never got made him want to kill her and make Michael miserable as soon as possible.
And that was why he rushed to execute his plan to murder Ann.
But he was somehow glad now that he had failed in his mission.
Else he might not have see life in a new angle . She made him think about things differently. He started to have dreams about a new life. He didn't yet know whether he loved her. Love was a difficult word for him. He wasn't sure he could love anyone in this life time besides himself. But one thing was sure - He liked her. He had a soft spot for her.
And he was surprised at how much worried he was just now when he heard she had a panic attack.
His thoughts drifted back to his chance encounter with Michael Smith. Suddenly his face turned venomous. A dark aura surrounded him.
"Why is he here? When did he find out?" His eyebrows collided with eachother. "I will not let him take her." He clenched his fist. If it meant killing him, then I will be happy to. " An evil grin spread on his face.
