Chapter 163: First Elemental
"Axel you should be calm right now. Ranking up has never had an accident, you as a trainer should be calm. You are the one who taught us about it.", said Lance. The sentence from Lance jolted Axel to reality. He calmed down and started to motivate Shedinja for a good rank-up.
Lyra and Lorelai were recording the entire process. They had never seen an elemental rank up and were fascinated by it.
"Elemental rank, the first hurdle. More than 80% of the trainers could not rank up their Pokemon to elemental rank. Congratulations Axel for your first elemental rank up.", said Lance in a deep voice.
"I won't count my Torchic until they are hatched.", replied Axel
"Oh come on, live up a little.", said Ryker patting Axel's back. The rank-up took more than 30 minutes. The environment started to get gloomier. The team could actually feel a powerful presence coming from Shedinja.
Elemental rank was the most important phase of Pokemon's life. A huge number of Pokemons could never reach such stage. There were higher ranks than Elemental rank but reaching Elemental rank was a feat in itself. So, Axel's Pokemon reaching Elemental rank jolted others to reality. The power difference between a new Elemental rank Pokemon and a late rare ranked Pokemon could not be compared. The gap was very huge.
From Ryker's comments, Axel could tell that this was not a normal Elemental rank-up. Ryker didn't say much but Axel could see the sweat falling from his face in panic too. Shedinja was not a normal Pokemon. It had already mastered its ability and created a new move. So, Axel speculated Shedinja to be more powerful than a normal Elemental rank Pokemon.
The evolution was finally completed. The sky started to glow with sunlight. Axel and the team ran up to Shedinja to know how it was. All the black glow had disappeared. There was not much change in Shedinja's physique. This was a rank up, not an evolution.
Axel could see some minute changes. Its shape looked more refined. It looked much more healthy than 30 minutes ago. There were other changes too but Axel could not figure them out. He thought that he was missing something. Shedinja flew over to Axel and gave him a big hug. Axel could feel that Shedinja had gotten stronger.

Reward 1: Move stages comprehension
The host is already aware of the stages of moves. They are:
1. N/A(N): When a Pokemon first learns the moves
2. Understanding (U): Next step
3. Competence (C): Pokemon is competent on the level of the move.
4. Good (G): Can only be achieved after reaching elemental rank. The move has qualitative change and can add effects too.
5. Epic (E): The move effects a larger area and on cellular level. The move is upgraded to extreme.
6. Extreme (EE): can only upgrade 2 moves to extreme.
Normally a move reaches the next stage in every 10 levels. However, it is always not the case. The reward will help the host to see the stages of each move of the Pokemon in real time.
Reward 2: Elemental overgrowth (Overgrowth)
Since Shedinja has evolved in record time, already learning a new move and already mastering its ability, the host is rewarded with a new talent, 'Elemental overgrowth'. This is a part of the 'Overgrowth' talent that the host has acquired before. 'Elemental overgrowth' is a sub-talent of 'Overgrowth'. The sub-talent enables the host to rank up his Pokemon faster than the elemental rank. It would enable the host to meet the condition faster than normally required.]

Axel stared at the notification screen for some time. These 2 rewards, especially the last reward would be monumental for Axel's growth. The first reward was just an easy way for Axel to view the system. Axel could see the move stages of his Pokemon but with multiple clicks on the system. But now, he could see it in real-time. This would be time-saving for Axel.
The second reward was what caught Axel's attention. This would rapidly decrease Axel's time to rank up his Pokemon to elemental rank. Another thing great about the second reward was its description.
The description said that his Pokemon would rank up faster up to elemental rank. Not from rare ranked to elemental rank but from baby form to elemental rank. That meant, until his Pokemon had not reached elemental ranks, they would receive the bonus.
'System, can the second reward be stacked with the talent 'Overgrowth'?' asked Axel.

This was Shedinja's first-ever rank-up, so Axel didn't know how it would react after the rank-up. Axel was afraid that its personality would change but he was worried for nothing. Axel could feel the same amount of love that it had before. It was very surprising how long they had come along. From being the weakest Pokemon in his team to the strongest. Shedinja had proved itself time and again and it deserved to be the first to rank up.
