Chapter 271: Pidgey's Training
"Flappy, from today I would train you personally.", said Axel. Pidgey was excited about this. For the past week, Axel had just told it to learn new moves, which it easily learned with the help of TM. He had then told it to continuously master those moves and had not concentrated on its training.
Pidgey had seen how Axel would help other Pokemons like Shedinja and Nidorino in creating new moves. It wanted a new move for itself.
"First of all, I want to ask you about something. You cannot improve all of the stats to the maximum in the future. You have to select a route. I think you should have a good speed and attack. Do you think too?"
"Pi.. Piiii"
It immediately agreed. It liked the sound of wind when it flew. This was a question that Axel had asked all of these Pokemons during its training. It was important to know what they wanted to become in the future.
"So, first of all, you should increase your speed. You should concentrate on your moves 'Agility' and 'Tail wind'. You should also concentrate on attack moves. Let's just start with 'Aerial ace'."
"Pi.. Pi.. Piiiii"
Pidgey started to complain. Axel could not totally understand what it meant but he knew why it was complaining. He had seen its greedy eyes when he was teaching Nidorino about the new move.
"Flappy, if you want to learn a new move, you would have to first have a good foundation in existing moves. If there is no good foundation, it would hurt your progress in the future. Do you want that?"
Pidgey shook his head saying no.
"Ok, first of all, is 'Tailwind'. It would be hard for you to master 'Agility' faster. So we would go with 'Tailwind'."
Axel then went to a giant tree and made a circle with a marker. Then he made another circle inside the big circle. Then another and another…
He had made what seemed like a sheet where one would throw the dart. There were 6 circles and 1 single point in the innermost circle.
He then turned towards Pidgey and said, "First of all, use 'Aerial ace' and try to hit the point in the innermost circle. Don't concentrate on attack power, just try to hit the point."
Pidgey nodded its head and then used 'Aerial ace'.
It flew high in the air. Then it suddenly dropped down straight till it was just half a meter above the ground and then it turned towards the trunk of the tree and directly slammed its beak and body in the trunk.
Axel then looked at the trunk and saw that it was in the third innermost circle. Pidgey looked disappointed with the result. It was not easy to hit the exact point when one was flying at such a high speed.
'Aerial ace' would let a Pokemon increase its speed and turn in another direction for more power and then it would hit the target. This made it hard for Pidgey to accurately hit the point.
"Don't worry, that is why we are training. We out get the point in the future. Now I want you to use 'Tailwind' and then 'Aerial ace'."
Pidgey flapped its wings and a small turbulent whirlwind started to form. The wind from the whirlwind increased the speed of Pidgey and then it used 'Aerial ace'.
However, this time, the move didn't even hit the trunk. Pidgey was flown out in the other direction due to the wind itself.
It crashed into the ground and Axel told it to rest till it was better to train again. He didn't use potion to heal its wings. He didn't want it to be too dependent on potions.
So, what had happened? Why did Pidgey crash due to its own move?
There were 2 reasons for it.
First, was the increase in speed. The increase was so high that Pidgey could not hit the trunk. It could not control its speed. The speed of 'Aerial ace' was already too high for it to hit the point.
The next reason was the move 'Tailwind'. The move would create a whirlwind around itself and the surrounding. This would drastically increase the speed of the Pokemon. But, the whirlwind moved in only one direction. Pidgey didn't have enough mastery of the move that it could control the direction of the move itself.
So it was thrown out when it changed its direction while using 'Aerial ace'.
After some time, Pidgey was healed and was ready to train again.
"First of all, we would only train 'Aerial ace'. First, use your lowest speed while using it, and then try to hit the point. After you have hit the point 10 consecutive times, we would increase the speed by a little."
"Pi,, Pidgey….", it shouted
Now, It used its lowest speed and surprisingly, it hit the point in the innermost circle. It was happy with the progress. But the second time, it only hit the innermost circle, not the point.
It knew that it needed to train a lot. For a whole day, it only trained in 'Aerial ace'. By the time it was evening, it was able to hit the point at half of its full speed.
"Flappy, this is the final 'Aerial ace' for today. Use it with half of your full speed."
"Pi…"
It flew around and struck the trunk with its beak. Axel had told Ivysaur to make the tree strong for practice.
Ping….
It had struck on the point.

Pidgey's Aerial ace has leveled up to 20. It has moved to competence stage.

The tree was now broken in half. This was the 2nd tree that it had destroyed today.
"Good work Flappy. Now we rest for today."
"Pi.. Pi.. Pipi…."
"No, you cannot train more now. You have to rest. If you want to be strong, you have to follow me. Your body needs to rest. We will train tomorrow."
Pidgey wanted to train more and improve its powers. Axel had strictly told it to rest so it had to.
Other Pokemons also congratulated it for its training. It puffed its chest in pride.
