Chapter 26: Would you like a drink?

Ashley tried to look calm as much as possible but in her mind she was screaming. What was she supposed to do now? It turns out it was the freaking box's fault!

Her brain cells were currently on fire as she tried to absorb everything he said.

"So do tell me how you went inside that box? " Ramier asked pryingly.

Ashley cleared her throat and answered. She recounted how she arrived in this 'new world'. She didn't know what she would call it.

"You see... I climbed a flight of super long stairs and there was this.. This small door in the ceiling and I reached out to open it and I entered it." she explained. "And when I came out, I arrived here and then I fainted."

She didn't tell him about the holes and the lake with the golden waters thing. He might think she was spouting nonsense. She just said the most important part.

Ramier leaned backwards and touched his chin. From her explanation, it was indeed unusual. He stayed quiet since he didn't know what to say.

"Is it okay if I ask you a  question..Ramier?", she asked hesitantly.

" Of course. "

" Where am I? Why am I here? What's the purpose of being a legacy? What am I supposed to do? How can I go home?" she asked continuously.

Ramier sighed. That was a lot of questions.

" I'm afraid I can only answer one of your questions. Unfortunately, I do not know why you're here and what you're supposed to do." he said earnestly."I only know that you're in Altria. It is in Malithe. Malithe is one of the continents here in Prux. Prux is the name of this world."

He paused and looked at her uneasy expression.

"As for how you can go home, I do not have any idea. I don't even know where you're from."

Her expression sank. Ramier continued to eat his food and she just stared at him blankly. She didn't know if she would listen to him. He seems to be serious.

But...

Can she really trust him? What if he was lying? What if this is just a ploy to trick her into being his future meal. She didn't want to believe anything he said. What if there was still hope?

Ramier felt her stare. She was spacing out in front of him and she unintentionally looked at him suspiciously. Her facial expressions gave her away.

"There seems to be a misunderstanding here." He clarified.

Ashley immediately snapped out of her gaze. She returned to her calm expression and asked him,

"I'm sorry, what was that?"

"I can see that you doubt my intentions, do not worry. I only told you the truth." he said.

"No.. I don't mean that." she looked to the side and laughed awkwardly at the end.

' Well.. let's see about that.'she secretly narrowed her eyes when he wasn't looking. Nobody could blame her. She has trust issues.

Ramier raised his hand to signal the servant at the corner of the room. He immediately understood his Highness and approached him.

The servant leaned down his head for Ramier to whisper something. After listening to his Highness the servant left to get something.

Seeing this, Ashley was alerted. What was that supposed to mean? She was only being paranoid because she saw him look her way briefly while whispering. She wondered if he was saying something shady or ...

Was she the main course?

She slowly chewed her food. She looked at Ramier from time to time to decipher his thoughts. He secretly laughed at this.

'There she goes again.. 'he thought.

A minute later and the servant came back holding a bottle. From her point of view, it looked like an expensive bottle of wine but she will soon find out that it wasn't the case.

The servant carefully placed down the bottle on the table. He removed the Cork and there was a 'pop' sound.

Ashley relaxed. Maybe, she was just misunderstanding Ramier from the start. He didn't even do anything bad to her. In fact, he was nothing but good towards her. She was even accommodated in his Palace. Why was she being overly paranoid?

She only thought of this because of the wine. She loved wine and for her, wine was only used on special occasions. She thought that Ramier was treating her like a special guest. That was so flattering. But she didn't know that, that assumption would soon be broken. It was far from her expectations.

He then let the servant pour him a glass. He looked at Ashley and asked her, "Would you like some?"

Ashley nodded and said, "Yes. Please."

She wore a small smile as a sign of her gratitude.

Ramier was surprised at the sudden change of her mood. A while ago he felt indifference in her aura and now, it was the complete opposite. The servant also gave Ashley a glass and she said her thanks. After giving them their drinks, the servant returned to the corner.

Ramier raised his glass and smiled at Ashley. He took a sip and simmered the drink in his mouth.

"Delicious as always." he murmured.

Ashley looked at him and slowly took her glass. She repeated what he did while also smiling. Finally, she took a sip.

She looked at the drink with a wrinkled nose.

'Pleh'

What is this? Was this how wine was supposed to taste? She knew wine was bitter but this? It tastes like rust or metal. Perhaps, even her tongue was impaired. The taste was sour bitter and sweet at the same time. She wanted to bard it out but that would be disrespectful.

He was anticipating her reaction to see if she liked it. She could only smile awkwardly at him and take another sip. This time she drank more to determine what it really tastes like. She was about to swallow it when Ramier spoke.

"So you like Silver deers? Actually I think Red Bear blood tastes better." he said trying to start the conversation.

Ashley looked at him with surprise and her body turned stiff. She wanted to know if what she heard was right. She was wide eyed as she stared at him. Ramier instantly understood this and said,

" What you're drinking is Silver deer blood but I recommend Honey bears' blood. It actually taste sweeter tha—"

"Pfffffffffffttt—"

She immediately spit the blood in her mouth and looked at him with a shocked expression. She couldn't bring herself to say anything back to Ramier. This was the biggest shock in her life.

Ramier was equally shocked. His eyes widened at her reaction. The blood she spit unfortunately, showered on his face.

'Oh my God! What the hell!', She wanted to throw up and faint on the spot.
