Chapter 2: Jedi Knight Iolande Warrior Part Two
The room was dark when she entered. She felt that she should go to the middle of the room, which she did. After she stopped, a circle of lights lit up the chamber. Encircling her were the Jedi masters who were on the council.
"Padawan Warrior, your trials were very impressive to watch. We were positive before we called upon you last week, that we were making the right decision of making you a Jedi knight of the Grand Rebuplic. And your trials have only backed up and reasurred us of our decision."
"Step forward, Padawan Warrior. As grand master of this council, pleased am I, to announce Jedi Knight Iolande Warrior of the Grand Rebuplic. Rise, Jedi Knight."
Iolande rose with pride on her face.
"Congratulations, my Padawan. You are now the youngest Padawan to achieve such a status."
"Thank you master. Thank you masters of the council. This is such an honor and I will not disappoint you."
"We have no doubt. You are dismissed."
Iolande left the counsel room with a smile on her face. It might have been the first real smile ever since Keenan died. She ran into Anikan on her way down to the Jedi knight training area. The masters told her that she may now tell whomever she wanted about her success in the Jedi knight trials.
"Hey, Xapa. What are you doing heading down to the Jedi knight training area? Padawans aren't allowed into that area."
"Well, I'm not really a Padawan anymore. This week, I took the Jedi knight trials and passed them. And I just came from the council room where they told me that I'm now the youngest Padawan to become a Jedi knight. So, I'm allowed to use the area."
"You're the new Jedi knight?! Why didn't you tell me when we were trying to guess who it would be?"
"I didn't think i was allowed to tell anyone until the council had come to a consensus about it."
"Well, what are you going to do now, Jedi knight Warrior?"
"I was going to see what the training room looked like. Wanna come?"
"I don't think I'm allowed in unless under the supervision of a Jedi knight."
"Hey. I'm a Jedi Knight now, and we would stick together and just have a look."
"Oh...right. i forgot. That's gonna take some time getting used to, I guess."
They two entered the training room. Inside, they found that this training room didnt really have anything special about it. Except that it was full of Jedi knights.
"Hey, you two aren't supposed to be in here."
"Uh oh."
"I'm gonna have to call your masters."
"That will be unnecessary, Jedi Knight Hammer." Master Fisto said while entering the Room.
"Master Fisto, I must apologize but rules are rules and those two padawans have just broke it."
"That is were you are wrong. You see, Padawan Warrior is no longer a Padawan anymore. She has passed her Jedi knight trials and has become a Jedi knight herself. And Anikan, though he may still be a Padawan, he was with Jedi Knight Warrior, therefore, permitting his presence in here."
"I am sorry. Please accept my most humble apology Jedi Knight Warrior. I was not informed about your passing of the trials."
"It's okay, Hammer. We were just leaving to get some lunch."
Anikan and Iolande left the training room and went to get something to eat. After they had finished eating, iolande got a call.
(Over comm.) "Jedi Knight Warrior, you are needed in the meeting room."
"Of course. I'm on my way."(turned off comm.)
"Guess you have to go."
"Yeah...duty calls. See you soon?"
"Wouldn't miss it."
"Tell Padme hi for me if you see her."
"Will do."
Iolande hurried to the meeting room. When she entered, she found her old master and a few others from the council.
"Ah, Iolande. Thank you for being able to meet us in such short notice."
"Certainly, Master Windo."
"I know that you have only just received your title, and you have been doing the trials all week and haven't had a break, but you are needed for a mission."
"I understand. What am I to do?"
"You are to go to Mandalore."
"Mandalore?"
"Yes. And you are to safely escort the Duchess back to Corasuant."
"Will I be accompanied by any clones?"
"Your Commander Jax has been informed. Your ship is waiting and your troopers are aboard your ship. You are to head out immediately."
"Of course, masters."
Iolande left the room feeling a bit odd. She was told that she was going to be accompanied by her clones, but no one else. And that she had her own ship. She got the impression that she got to name her ship. That's what all Jedi knights get to do when they have command of their own ship in the Grand Rebuplic's army. She made her way to the main hanger which was huge. She had no trouble finding her ship because it was the only one that was not damaged or being repaired. Outside the entrance of the ship was Commander Jax.
"Commander Jax, it is good to see you again."
"You too, General. I hear that we are going to Mandalore?"
"Correct. I'll debrief you on the mission once we've set a course for the planet."
"Iolande."
"Master Kenobi."
"May I have a word with you before you depart?"
"Certainly. Jax, have the ship ready to leave when I'm done."
"Sir yes sir."
"Iolande, do you know anything about the Duchess of Mandalore?"
"Not really. Besides that Mandalore's duchess leads her planet and many others in the neutrality movement."
"Yes, she is. Be mindful that you do not upset the duchess. She has quite a mind of her own."
"I understand, Master. But may I ask, how do you know so much about her?"
"Lets just say, we have a history."
(Over comm.) "General, the ship is ready to leave whenever you are."
"Very good, commander."(turned off comm.)
"I must leave, Master Kenobi."
"May the force be with you, iolande."
Iolande headed up the ramp. Heading for the bridge, she found that it was a bit odd, to be commanding a ship of her own. Upon arriving at the bridge, many of the crew were surprised when she walked in.
(Whispering) "is she the Jedi knight?"
"She's so young and little."
Iolande cleared her throat. "I know that many of you are used to working with Jedi knights and Jedi Masters with their Padawan. And i can see that many of you are a bit shocked that i, a girl so young, is commanding this ship and mission. But I promise you, that if you have very little trust, I will earn it."
There was a pause. Iolande was a bit nervous of what her commanding officers thought of her. Suddenly, they all broke out in applause.
"I think you just earned their trust, General."
Iolande smiled. "Admiral, set a course for Mandalore."
The main bridge commander, Admiral Kane, nodded. "You heard the general."
The ship came out of hyperspace some time after they had entered it. Mandalore had one main city. The rest of the planet was just a white ball with little to nothing on it. The Cruiser landed in the main docking port. Iolande exited the ship without her lightsabers. Even though she knew little about this planet and its inhabitants, she knew that weapons, of any sort, were prohibited.
"Welcome, master Jedi. You must be the one escorting the Duchess. I'm am Lord Minimums, the Duchess's head advisor."
"It is a pleasure to meet you. I'm Jedi knight Warrior. We will be ready to leave for Corusant whenever the Duchess is ready."
"Wonderful. In fact, the Duchess would like to see you and your head officer in her council room before we head off, if that would be alright."
"Of course. If you will give me a moment."
"Certainly."
"Commander Jax."
"Sir yes sir."
"Leave your pistols on the bridge. We're going to see the Duchess."
"Sir, if i may ask, why must I leave without my pistols?"
"Mandalorian tradition and regulation. No weapons permitted inside the main city."
"Yes sir."
"Lord Minimums, we are ready."
"Perfect. If you would follow me."
The two followed the lord who led them to a waiting transportation vehicle. When they had arrived at the palace, the two were greeted by a spunky boy of 4 years old.
"Lord Minimums!! Did you bring the jedi?!"
"Yes little Corky. This is Jedi knight Warrior. I am pleased to introduce the Duchess's nephew, Corky."
"Wow. You're a real life Jedi?!"
"As real as real one can be."
"Where are your lightsabers?"
"I had to leave them aboard my ship."
"Jedi Warrior, this way."
They were led into the palace and into the Duchess's council room. They were given a seat in front of the throne and waited. They Duchess arrived a few minutes later, escorted by her palace guards. Iolande and Jax stood while the Duchess took her seat on her throne.
"Welcome to Mandalore, honorable Jedi. As you may be already aware of, I am Duchess Satine."
"Thank you, Duchess. I am Jedi knight Iolande Warrior and this is my head commander, Commander Jax. We are honored to be meeting with you."
"Ah yes, you are the Jedi Master Kenobi mentioned that would be asscorting me to Corusant. If your ship and your crew are ready, we may leave for Corasuant this instance."
"Certainly, Duchess. My ship and crew have made the necessary arrangements for your comfort aboard the Serenity."
"Very well. To Corasuant, then."
The group left the throne room and headed back to where the speeders were waiting to take them back to the ship. Then onboard, iolande showed the Duchess where her quaters on the ship would be and that she was welcomed to come to the bridge of she felt like it.
"Thank you very kindly, Jedi Warrior. But I think I will stay in my quaters."
"Of course. I will come inform you when we are in orbit above Corusant."
Iolande left, heading to the bridge.
"Set the course for Corusant, Admiral Kane."
"Yes, General."
