Chapter 4: Talking to the babies

According to the guide time flowed differently in the labyrinth.

Time flies quickly here, while on the outside time flies slowly.

Hmm. . . That still doesn't explain how those adventurers managed to clear 117 lvls but then again it's not like I had a clear concept of time I spent myself.

At most, I think I spent more than 5 hours designing the new structure of the labyrinth. Would that be just 50 or 5 seconds in the outside world? Hmmm….

I watched the group, it was like watching a video game playthrough. All the characters were all cool and good-looking. But… it didnt look like they were moving together?

It looks like the group was divided into smaller teams, meanwhile, there was a person who didn't have any team. The longer I watched them the more I felt put off.

They would argue over who got the drop items even though this singular person was the one doing the most damage.

At this rate, it wouldn't surprise me if they tried to kill him in his sleep. If you're going to die come to my forbidden labyrinth so I can get your soul points, someone as strong as you is bound to give me a lot hehehehe.

Ding!

Ooooh! I was excited someone had finished cultivating? I quickly switched perspectives and found myself blinking.

Who? There's a little girl in my forbidden labyrinth? An intruder? How? When?

"Silence, peon. It is I Giant Bee." The little girl announced.

Similarly to jack-o-lantern she took on human characteristics… but she looks too much like a human with her golden blonde hair, honey brown eyes, and milky white skin, wrapped around her neck was a furry scarf. There also seemed to be fuzz where her crotch was but I couldn't tell whether or not it was underwear.

What is that the fuzz from when she was a bee? So is that like her body hair or-

"S-silence peon! I can hear your thoughts!"

"Who the hell are you calling peon?! You better respect me or I won't feed you any more stones!" I didn't catch it the first time because I was too surprised at her talking to pay too much mind to her tone.

This made her flinch.

"I-I can just go to the golden beach, hmph!"

(How do you know about the golden beach?!)

"I can sense it, it is near yes? I suppose I must thank you for providing me with my new homeland. Yes, I will upgrade you from peon to my servant."

So the gold sand was pollen? More importantly...

(If you don't show me the proper respect I'll throw you in jail.)

The jail in the monster village had a special ability that nullified monsters' powers preventing them from breaking out.

"You would be so petty as to throw me in jail over something like that?"

(But of course! Since I am the queen of pettiness, showing such disrespect itself towards me is a crime.)

"Oho?" Giant Bee, smirked.

[You have earned Giant Bee's respect.]

Eh? Just from that?

"Then I must beg your pardon, your pettiness."

(...Very good then. Giant Bee because calling you Giant Bee is so annoying I've decided to give you a new name.)

Technically Giant Bee's race name was Honey Waspbee, the offspring between a monster bee and wasp, she was a queen class beast which meant from the moment she was born she was meant to have her own colony.

No one could ever rob her of it, it was her own birthright. Man, must be nice.

"A new name?" Her antennae twitched, clearly, her interest was piqued. "Do go on."

I hummed.

"What about Beatrice. . .or maybe Polly? Or Honey?"

"The first will do. Beatrice Pollen has a nice ring to it." Beatrice said thoughtfully. It seems the queen had decided. Personally, I like Polly better. I decided I'm going to call her Polly in secret.

(Then Pol-Beatrice, I suppose I don't need to feed you stones anymore since you have the gold beach?)

She pointed her nose up in the air and looked elsewhere to hide the tinge of red on her cheeks. "Not yet, I still need to lvl up once more in order to learn the knowledge required to refine it."

So all that talk before was her bluffing huh?

I tapped on Beatrice with my stylus to check her again.

To begin with Beatrice was a mixed breed between thunder wasps and Honey bees.

Wasps are like warriors while honey bees are like farmers.

Specialties are completely different but if mixed together she could become pretty scary.

The gold beach was the homeland of the honey bees but a biome called Thor's cliff was the homeland of the thunder wasps.

Ah, I had a biome like that I hadn't used yet right?

"Here you go then."

I hand her one last stone. She climbed up the tree and disappeared. Her fur was blocking the view, I only saw her small little butt and had to resist the urge to laugh by filling my cheeks with air.

I added Thor's cliff as the seventh biome(west).

Ding! Ding!

Two at once?

From the Haunted valley, another person.

Jack- I'm assuming he's Jack because of his orange hair, it seems jack has become a teenager.

Currently he was planting seeds in the cemetery beds. He had outgrown his underwear a bit, so every time he bent over I felt as if the scene belonged to something out of a smutty yaoi manga.

"The dirty-minded one is back." Teenager Jack-o-lantern looked up at me.

He seemed to have matured somewhat. He went from being an innocent and shy person to someone blunt. I'm sure deep down he was still the same though, just a little pumpkin-headed boy with a big heart and di-

"S-stop monologuing!" Jackolantern interrupted my thoughts.

See? He's blushing. Still so shy.

"J-just drop down some more stones for me and leave already!"

Ahohohoho (^ 0 ^) I dropped down the stones.

(Where is angry sheep?)

"The angry sheep? He left for his homeland."

(Homeland?)

"The holy forest. He goes back and forth between the two, there was a Giant Bee he fought with every time he went there but now that her homeland is here, he can go back."

(Ah.)

No wonder he was always so angry. Beatrice, why did you fight with him? More importantly, I hope he doesn't interrupt her cultivation.

I scrolled over there to find a pair of horns in the bushes. When I dropped more stones on top, they rustled.

A little boy with cloudy white hair and horns emerged out of the bushes to glare at me before quickly disappearing back into the bush.

S-so cute! It was only a quick glance but he looked so adorable! I felt shook to my core. I wanted to tease him out of the bush so badly, but I don't think I could take it if he hated me and yelled, it might interrupt Beatrice. Uhuuuu, but I wanted to see him again!

Instead, I went to go bother Jackolantern who was still planting seeds.

(Angry sheep is so cuuuuuuuuuuuuute!)

He covered his ears.

"But he always hiding in the bushes, whenever I see him. boooo!"

"Yeah, I know. I told him you were a weirdo so he should make sure to hide from you whenever you come."

(Eh why did you do that for? Also, How do you guys know when I arrive?)

"The air feels less private I guess? I dunno. We can just sense when we're being watched."

(Hmph! All of you are so rude, you should be thanking me!)

"When did we say we were not thankful?"

(If you were you would show me respect!)

"Being respectful and thankful are. . .two different things." Jack made a disgruntled expression.

(Why don't you put some clothes on?)

"There is no point if I will just get bigger and bigger."

He had a point there.

(When will you stop growing?)

"When I want to!" He looked up at me defiantly.

(I'm not telling you to stop, I'm just asking. It'd be off-putting if you become a wrinkly old man.)

"Certain monsters stop aging when they reach their peak, but other monsters age too, though it takes a long time. I imagine it'd take a millennia before I get that old."

(Hmmm. . .then which one are you?)

"Why don't you just wait and see?!"

I humphed at him.

(I'm not going to talk to you anymore, happy cultivating.)

Jackolantern nodded with a frowning expression.

"Yes, thanks."

Brat! Breaking my heart here! None of the monsters aside from Beatrice seem to like me waaaah!

Ding!

Oh? Is Beatrice done? It wasn't her.

That's when I suddenly remembered Jelly angel and Black tortoise.

Black tortoise was still cultivating, but it seems like the jelly angel became smaller.

"Hello." She greeted me first.

(Ah? Hello.)

"Thank you for the stones."

Her soothing bell-like voice and politeness caught me off guard.

(Y-your welcome. . .)

"Can I have four more?"

(Four at once? Are you sure you can handle it?)

"Mmmmm. . .maybe, anyways I feel like I'm behind. I want to catch up to the rest of the others quickly."

Weird. Could she sense the levels of those around her? Was that a special trait or was it something all monsters could do?

(Don't overdo it.)

I dropped four stones.

She gingerly accepted all four with her tentacles. "Thank you for your concern but I plan on pacing myself."

(Oh, okay then.)

All the stones began revolving around her like a sun. She seemed to be cultivating.

(Then. . .bye!)

She seemed so nice. That surprised me. Talking to her was refreshing. None of the monsters had thanked me, well, Beatrice was the only one who came the closest to thanking me, but she worded it in a way that was hard to stomach. Still, both girls didn't seem so bad.

***

I am pretty much halfway through the guidebook now.

The Archaven Labyrinth, was a spiritual realm woven into the realm of humans, daemons, elfman, and mermen.

Those that clear the dungeons are rewarded with floating islands, it is on these floating islands that spirit sects are formed. They are gatherings of cultivators.

I was never fond of the world of cultivating whenever I read mangas, it just seemed pretty boring and complicated. I only liked seeing the fights and drama.

Though there were still a few that were interesting, it didn't change the fact the universe was so complicated. I'd have to study a lot more.

As I continued reading, the void around me shook. I glanced at the monsters who were cultivating but they seemed to be fine.
