After investigating the portal more closely, John noticed that the amalgamation that had appeared on his left looked like one of those portals that you would see in a cartoon show, or manhua that involved dimensional traveling. John realized that he might have been reaching with this thought, but he so badly wanted it to be true as he wanted to escape from his mundane life. For the last 16 years of his life, he had just been doing what his parents had wanted him to do, or what society had deemed as important. He had never solely focused on what he liked to do. If this was really what he thought it was, it could be a chance for him to have a fresh start. After contemplating for a few moments, he decided to just go for it and walked straight into the portal.
A few seconds later he appeared in front of a small town in what appeared in the middle of nowhere. After taking a look around him at his surroundings, he noticed that there was a blue window that appeared in front of him. On the window there was a line that said "Congratulations on being the 1st player to reach the other side!!! You can have your pick of a reward from any of the B ranked items on the list." After reading that John was ecstatic, it looked like his dream had really come true, and he would finally have an out from being stuck in his boring old world, and could have some fun in this new one.
John took a look at the list of items in it were 20 items that he could choose from. There were 6 swords, 2 daggers, 5 staffs, 1 pair of gauntlets, four pairs of armor, and 2 fruits. Immediately John was drawn to the fruit section. John had never heard of fruits in a game so he was interested in what those were specifically. The two fruits were the fruit of yin and yang, and the fruit of ice and fire. John pretty much guessed what the fruit of ice and fire was, he thought that he would either get the abilities of someone able to control those elements, or some type of body comprised of those elements that granted him resistances. He was however confused about what the yin and yang fruit could mean. It seemed rather open ended to him.
John decided that instead of going down the safe route like he had in the other world, he would try a riskier approach and took the fruit of yin and yang. After eating the fruit, a message popped up "User is granted the ability to split the mind in 2 and multitask on 2 things perfectly". This fruit seemed very useful in the later stages, and John could already think of a couple of uses like dual wielding swords/daggers flawlessly or just having it be a convenience for daily life so he wasn't disappointed at all with this fruit. After eating the fruit, he got another message from the game window telling him to choose a class.
