Chapter 5: Bill

Bill was a large man older in age with white hair. He bore brown eyes and sun kissed skin due to constantly working in the sun. The man stood about 6 feet high. His brown eyes wide and his smile kind. He wore a white t-shirt and blue jeans with two boots on with an intricate embroidered design on the top.
Bill watched the two girls approach him one a small black haired latin girl with tanned skin the other another petite woman with black hair as dark as the night sky and a soft warm complexion. She was sun kissed as well but more in a native american way with high cheek bones and full round lips. He couldn't help cracking a wide grin at the thought of not having to be alone anymore in a strange place.
"Hi Bill, I'm So-chee." Greeted Xóchitl, elongating each syllable again when they finally reached him.
"Hi Zoey" replied Bill turning to look at the other girl "that must make you Aspen." Aspen nodded her head peeking at Xóchitls exasperated look from the corner of her eye. "Well darlin, you were mighty talkative not too long ago. What happened?" he asked as he cocked his head to the side.
"She's shy. She'll warm up soon, if we live long enough. She gets terrible anxiety from meeting a new person. It's a long story." Xóchi said as she dismissed the topic. "This place is very strange."
"Now as a chance of survival I think we three oughta try sleeping in shifts. I would say let's find the highest or darkest spot or corner, but the l can't fine an edge it's like walking in space. I was convinced I was dead to y'all showed up." he said
"Mmm... we should try sitting in a triangle and assess what we as a group have in our pockets." Aspen quietly mentioned
"Quite right. I reckon I have a bill fold with 700$ in it a pocket knife and course old Bessie." he said grinning he lifted his pant leg to reveal a sharp knife tucked into his hidden leg sheath.
"I wish we had $700.00. She has us on a ramen noodle, school cafeteria food, and popcorn diet. I'm always hungry." Xochi complained
"I tell you what Sully, if we get out of this mess I'll give you what's in my billfold." replied Bill with complete honesty. Xóchitl smacked her head with her hand completely annoyed the man could not get her name right. She didn't dare correct him though as she could use $700 if they ever got out of the situation.
"I have a pen, my ID, an extra pair of socks, a couple of unused hand warmers and a small first aid bag which has alcohol pads, a lighter, some disinfectant, gauze and aspirin. What about you Xochi?" asked Aspen quietly
"Peanuts and Scrunchies" replied Xóchitl. When both of them stared at her with a surprised expression. "What I wasn't expecting to get abducted and Aspen always packs our bags full of equipment and extra stuff. I never worry with her around and I definitely didn't think to add anything in my pockets at the time."
"Right..... So we all agree on trying to make it out of here together right? Seems to me that Aspen is very smart, I'd put money on it that Aspen and I could brain storm something up together."
"Hey.." cried out Xóchitl
"Listen Chewy, my best pardner growing up was Dustin. Now Dustin was a total badass. Dude could fight any man of any size. As we got older Dustin got all the muscle and ladies while I stayed scrawny. It's not that I can't fight, I can handle my own you see, but Dustin was always better than me at fighting. I on the other hand as we grew got smarter and learned to outwit my enemies and used what power I had at the opportune time. It's not that Dustin didn't know how to fight or wasn't smart it's just we had different qualities. He learned over time to just trust me and my plans. I'm asking you to do the same here. Young Aspen and I need to get to know each other as you said she's shy and all I spect we will all be together for awhile." Xóchitl pouted but nodded her head she knew he was right. If anyone could come up with a plan it's her best friend.
"What happened to Dustin" she asked
"He's same as ever. Man took a job with a private military company when he was younger. Sorta like a military for hire he never did well with authority but he's a killer good shot. Old as we are now he settled down out in the mountains of Alaska and lives like a mountain man out in the middle of no where took an Inuit woman as his wife. She's too darn nice for that man. She balances him out real nice. Now for right now it would be good if you slept so you could take a later shift of watch." commented Bill. Xóchitl nodded and tried to get comfortable on the hidden floor. She was tired and it didn't take her long to fall asleep. Aspen sat nearby and stroked her hair like a mother trying to lull their child to sleep. When Xochi finally started breathing deeply indicating she was sleeping Bill spoke softly. "I think it is only a matter of time till our Alien friends out yonder come looking for us. When they do one of us creates a distraction while the others use my handy dandy knives to cut them open." Aspen winced at the thought "clearly you'll be the distraction, unless you think your friend there would be a better one she's awfully loud." he commented
"No, she's a fighter like you said." she replied
"Well I suspected that was the case." he said looking over her and her posture "You know you remind me of my wife. Not that you look like her but she's just as sweet as pie. Which is what I think you are." Aspen looked over at him worried "I ain't gonna touch you...." he laughed "I myself have 4 daughters and 2 sons. Beautiful as you are I could never look at either of you as more than anything than daughters. Ya see my wife when I first met her had the same look in her eyes as you. She gets nerve racked real quick like you. The thing is it's due to her past..... her daddy has nothing but real mean words for her. And I suspect you were or are put through the same thing." he stated looking at Aspen for an answer.
