Chapter 11: Chapter 11: Spoon-feeding

KONSTANTIN

The pain in his chest is starting to manifest. He breaths slowly while clutching his chest. Konstantin is resting on Geraldine's bed while the woman runs to the pharmacy to get medicines for him. The bedroom looks cold and lonely, there are boxes at the corner and unpacked books laying still. Konstantin thinks of the worst thing that can happen. Geraldine abandons him on purpose or did the Twelve abducts the women.

Where is she?

The sound of footsteps outside the door makes Konstantin nervous. His grip on his chest becomes heavier although he tries to relax faster, the trauma he has is like everyday torture. Soft knocks on the door heighten his anxiety but the familiar voice that calls his name gives him relief.

"Konstantin, are you awake? I have your pain killers." Geraldine says in a mild tone. She does not want to wake up the man in his deep slumber.

"Come in," Konstantin answers with a lower hush voice. The pain in his chest is taking all his strength and vigor.

"How are you feeling?" Geraldine asks with her eyes low. She let herself sit at the bed beside the patient she is taking care of. Setting the brown paper bag at the table beside the bed and picks up one pill to hand it over to the man. She reaches for a glass of water at the table and assists Konstantin in sipping water.

"Thank you." Konstantin sincerely gives his gratitude. Looking at the woman's eye with pure kindness.

"Tell me why are there people after you?" Geraldine asks. She knows that it is connected to her mother's job.

"You don't want to know." Konstantin tries to stop Geraldine to ask more questions.

"Are they the ones who killed my brother?" The woman pursues to ask for more information and Konstantin finds it difficult to lie about his situation.

"No. Your brother jumped from the rooftop." He told her the truth. The details are far direr to elaborate for the woman to know.

"Kenny wouldn't kill himself without a good reason." Geraldine retorts. Her grief continues to grow.

"He has a good reason. I was there when he jumped off the roof." Konstantin clarifies he can barely hide the justification from the woman.

Geraldine's eye becomes misty hearing the words of clarity from Konstantin. Yet the reason behind her brother's death is still unclear.

"Tell me what was his reason?" Geraldine's voice stutter. She has assumed a lot of theory but none of them connect logically to her notion.

"I'm sorry, I can't. It would be better if you know nothing." Konstantin answers with a heavy heart but he knows the implication it will cause her and her relationship with her mother.

"Does it involve my mother?" Geraldine asks the obvious reason that the man chooses to be speechless rather than help her.

"It is safer for you if you don't know anything," Konstantin adds. He has put a lot of people in danger and that includes her daughter who he must find.

Geraldine reaches for the brown paper bag at the table and stares at Konstantin. Her fierce eyes express hateful sentiment towards the man. She stands up from the mattress and takes the medicines away, stepping towards the door without any word to say.

"Wait..." Konstantin says calling the woman back closer to the bed.

Geraldine turns around but not a step forward to Konstantin. She wants to establish a firm decision to know the truth behind her brother's unexpected passing.

"I'll tell you everything you need to know," Konstantin says with a serious affirmation. His honesty is a good enough payment for the kindness of the woman he owes his life for. He stares at Geraldine's eyes with all of his sincerity and starts to unravel the details of the day he went to see Kenny.

EVE

Villanelle and Isobel had sex.

Eve's mind is full of thoughts about the two women. It's natural to feel jealous about the knowledge. The woman is gorgeous. Hotter than hell. Eve presumes the natural flawless tanned skin comes from being Asian and the strong jawline, perfect nose, and height come from a foreign part of her parent. She's not Latina or Hispanic, Middle Eastern is not close to her guess.

Eve's face reddens with thoughts of Isobel. She blames the information that Isobel likes women too like Villanelle. Her fascination with assassins and their brilliance is giving her a quivering feeling to know more about the woman.

Their travel took them hours until they reach a small remote place outside of London. The villa has a large garden at the front and facing the bay where she can see a small port and a boat.

"A villa? You are staying in this place?" Eve exclaims admiring the large house and magnificent garden noticeable even at nighttime.

"Thank you. I own this place." Isobel brags watching Eve's delight and be amazed by the elegance of the house.

Two men comes out of the house and assisted Eve to get her suitcases inside the premises while still scouring the place like a tourist.

"Now, I know why I never heard of you. You are not a psychopath like Villanelle. You kill for money. Your every work is efficient and perfectly executed because you get paid. Your loyalty to the organization is not because you want to kill but because they can pay you to kill." Eve states her assessment with a profound tone of confidence towards the woman.

"You think I work like The Ghost?" Isobel counters with a delightful expression. Eve is as predictable as any woman. Presumptuous and Arrogant. However, she finds comfort in that notion. She understands that maybe Oksana feels the gravity of Eve's constant variable. Unchanging. Secure. Dependable.

"How did you know about the ghost?" Eve begs for an answer. The shock in her face is obvious with her wide eyes peering at the woman. Isobel's knowledge of the assassin they call "ghost" is unexpected. The task to get information from Peel is a covert operation. So secretive that there are no trace or paper trail of her working at the MI6 mission.

"Did you ever wonder why The Ghost knows Villanelle and calls her demon's egg?" Isobel inquires as she stares at Eve's eyes. Walking towards the woman and closing the gap between them. She wants Eve to smell her womanly scent and put down the walls the woman likes to create. Eve is not gullible. She pushes people back so you let her go down easy, you seduce this kind of woman.

"I get it. Jun works for you. She was hired to kill Alister Peel and was never from the twelve, unlike Villanelle." Eve clarifies. The realization that there is another organization of assassins working hand in hand with The Twelve is terrifying. The unlimited manpower they could get their hands into and no one going against them is something the MI6 will have a hard time to handle.

"You are smarter than I expected you to be. I think I know now why my little sister is fascinated." Isobel smiles playfully. She tries to touch Eve's cheeks with the back of her hand.

"Villanelle loves me." Eve declares tenaciously. She knows Isobel is taunting her from the start and she wants to fight back from all the teasing.

Isobel scoff hearing the phrases from the woman, "I know she loves you. I know Oksana is capable of loving someone. The question is, do you love her? Will you still be thrilled when she stops killing people? When she becomes "normal" for you?"

"I do," Eve answers with certainty. Her conflicting sense of obsession for the woman is clear. She loves Villanelle and she accepts the woman no matter who she is.

"Then prove it. Do something to set her free. To set both of you free." Isobel demands glaring at Eve's eyes.

"How?" Eve pleads as she put her face closer to the woman.

"Kill The Twelve," Isobel says.
