Chapter 3: Chapter 3

The absurdity of the memories inside my new mind left me breathless, this world was actually a world where individuals took something that the Heaven and the Earth naturally birthed, something that was entirely not in my previous world; called Spiritual Qi, they took this peculiar energy that was like a new form of essence into their bodies, tempering their constitution completely from impurities as the more they absorbed the Spiritual Qi, the more they mended their mortal flaws, strengthening themselves as the Spiritual Qi they stored into their body converted into energy then strength outwardly, allowing them to shatter mountains, cross and split open rivers, use many astonishing abilities, and even fly.

This sequence of tempering one's body with Spiritual Qi was called cultivation and was done by most of the population in the Mortal and Heaven Realms, nevertheless, more unsuccessfully than not.

Everything came with a price, although cultivating could allow oneself the strength to protect their loved ones, possess a more deep and profound understanding of the world, and even increase their fame, fortune, longevity, and status, it was an immensely cruel, expensive, and difficult occupation.

As one would say, ignorance is bliss, mortals in my previous world had no worry of imploding oneself for taking in the Spiritual essence of the Heaven and the Earth into one's body incorrectly, having themselves and their entire family dying a pitiful death to various mystical abilities as they unluckily offend the wrong person, or being in a constant state of unrest, knowing that the probability of dying for direct or indirect consequences was extremely high in a world where powerful Demon Beast's roamed and other various beings that would do anything to strengthen themselves.

Demon Beast's were various creatures that this world birthed with it's Spiritual Qi, these were beast's that were born with a high enough intelligence or a constitution that allowed them to strengthen oneself with Spiritual energy (Qi), essentially cultivating in their own way, allowing them to become powerful and evolve, just as humans in this world could. They had different, but increasingly higher grades of cultivation stages that also rivaled humans, they were termed as demon-like because they were extremely destructive, most likely due to the impurity of the air that was now tainted by the many nefarious cultivators in the mortal world.

It couldn't be helped, the mortal world was riddled with these devilish cultivators as many humans would rather take the easy way out and cultivate methods that made cultivation faster and easier even if the contents in order to complete them were evil.

They were bound to be disappointed and never reach the pinnacle of cultivation, these quick and nefarious methods may give instant gratification but in the long term it would result in a shaky foundation and damnation from the heavenly tribulations, cultivation was an act of defying the Heavens in the first place since cultivators were stealing the essence from the Heaven and Earth and turning it into their own strength, using these unstable mortal devilish techniques that would harm another for ones owns gain for easy and quick strength would usually result in an inevitable death in one form or another.

It seemed like young Zero had an insurmountable amount of information about both realms before being sent down here and especially loved to read.

I took a second to catch my breath, and actually realize how crazy all of this was, I used to live in a world with no such power and monsters, but now I suddenly appear in one with immortals and demon beasts? I was surprised I didn't go crazy in either excitement or shock.

Though, I had always wanted to fly.

As I continued to sift through the memories of the life of this 8-year-old body, I came across the reasoning as to why he was in this situation in the first place; the Visum Family Trails.

The Visum Family Trials were as what the other Ancient Guardian Families condemned, it was a barbaric practice leaving your male heirs in a desolate world such as the Mortal one, one overrun by many Devil cultivators and Demon Beast's all by their lonesome, their family gave them only their talent, bloodline, and one cultivation technique to survive, but this was what the Visum Family did every single generation, even his father had to go through the same circumstances and he ascended to the Heaven Realm with cultivation and strength that rivaled the top genius's that cultivated in the Heaven Realm since birth, showing his immense talent and power all by himself.

These trials not only tempered their mind, soul, and body to the extreme, it also tempered one's personality, giving the surviving genius's of the Visum Family Trials a profound disposition that could not be found in the arrogant and unaware Heaven Realm Genius's that were fed with a golden spoon all their lives.

The other Ancient Guardian Families tried replicating it by putting their younger generation in similar circumstances of having to fight for their survival, but they just didn't have the audacity, strength, or dignity to continue, they would always save their younger generation once they were on the verge of death, so their tempering would never truly work, and they would never be in an environment where they had to endlessly struggle to achieve greatness; breaking through their limits, not given immense resources and care as they are just born.

Another reason this practice was seen as absurd was that the other seventeen Ancient Guardian Families did not have the capital to send all their heirs to the Mortal World as it cost an immense amount of immortal jades; a valuable Heaven Realm currency of the cultivation world that was generally used to activate powerful arrays and increase one's cultivation.

Even if they did have the capital, they were proven to only have a survival rate of less than 30% of their descendants compared to the Visum Families almost 50% survival rate for sending their descendants to the Mortal World at the tender age of 8.

This had to do with their bloodlines and was another reason that the Visum Family was on the very top of the Ancient Guardian Families, as the Visum Family bloodline was accompanied by a top Supreme-Graded Martial Spirit that had great survival abilities.

Many individuals showed mysterious abilities not long after they were born, and these abilities were called Martial Spirits. Some had the power of lightning, some could control nature, some could use the earth as their own, some could use the frost of ice, some could regenerate a limb with a thought, and some were capable of communicating with demon beasts...

People with these various abilities would all become cultivators, and their abilities were referred to as Martial Spirits and were further divided into different grades.

Individuals with a higher grade Martial Spirit would find cultivation easier, meanwhile, those with lower grades would find it difficult. Hence, the rule was made that people with higher grade martial spirit have high potential and are known as geniuses while others with lower grades have low potential.

But, these rules were meant to be broke, although small, there were a handful of individuals who managed to reach the pinnacle of cultivation through their own blood, sweat, and tears or lucky chances with either none or a low-grade Martial Spirit.

14 different grades

* No Martial Spirit

* Grade One to Three – Low

* Grade Four to Six – Medium

* Grade Seven to Nine – High

* Grade Ten – infinitely close to Supreme talent martial spirits

* Grade Eleven to Thirteen – Supreme Talent Martial Spirit

* Grade Fourteen ????

Martial Spirit's were all possessed at birth, and awaken once one reaches the age of 8, they increase in strength as the owner's strength increases, some having the chance of transformation in their Martial Spirit in rare occurrences. Only a few could acquire a Martial Spirit through luck, in fact, the majority of cultivators did not have one.

Cultivators can increase their strength, but not obtain a Martial Spirit through training, this meant that between two cultivators who had similar strengths, the one with the Martial Spirit would most likely be the strongest of the two.

Martial Spirits inherited through bloodline were the most common occurrence, a child had a high possibility of inheriting the same/similar Martial Spirit of their parents, and if both parents had a Martial Spirit the child was almost guaranteed to have one, it was extremely rare to not be born with a Martial Spirit in that circumstance, but even rarer was having the situation where a child inherits both Martial Spirits of their respective parents. This type of Martial Spirit was called "Dual Spirits" and those types of individuals who inherited them were called the "Son/Daughter of Heaven" which only happened in the rarest of circumstances.
