Chapter 5: Will you be my partner

Elizabeth's p.o.v

"Betty you are not going to believe what i just heard" izzy my best friend said as soon as we met in the hallway

Considering the fact that my long lost best friend appeared out of the blue and is also joining our school i don't know what i can or cannot believe.

We would have walked to our lockers but unlike those high school stories you read and watch on TV , my school didn't give us lockers if you can't keep your things in your bag don't bring them to school is what our principal says.

Without waiting for my reply she continued

"you remember Brenda right" i nodded and she continued

"well you know she hasn't been coming to school for a while ,can you guess the reason why"she asked and waited for my reply .

I had nothing in mind so i just said the first thing I could think of,

"is she pregnant"

"wow how did you know that"

"i just guessed. wait is she really pregnant , how is that even possible"

"you sound like you don't know what her friends and her do with boys in this school..apparently Brandon is the father of the baby but he denied it"

"Rrrrrriiiiinnnng"the bell for class rang

"See you during lunch"we both said and went separate ways.

It's so annoying that Izzy isn't in any of my classes this year meaning we can only see each other during lunch and before and after school . I really need her in my classes some teachers are really boring so I need someone to pass the time with .

I stepped into the class and took a look around nothing had changed Brandon and his minions were sitted at the back making noise and for sure talking about the girls who they were planning to do stuff with this year. After them were the two B's officially three but since Brenda is M.I.A they are only two I looked for an empty seat in the second row and sat down there. the teacher came in like two seconds after I had settled down.

I just couldn't help but wonder how Jake was doing ,had he gotten his schedule ,was he lost had he....

The door to the class opened and i was interrupted from my thoughts as Jake walked into the class.

"you are late" Mrs Williams the literature teacher said raising a finger at him

"sorry ma'am I am a new student i got lost on my way here" he answered so politely

"wow you have such good manners do you mind introducing yourself to the class" she smiled

"No thank you " he says and takes a seat beside Jeremy

All the girls in class started staring and giggling while making small talk about how cute he was .

"All right class since today is our first literature class I won't teach " the whole class started clapping

"Don't get to happy you are all going to do a project , you each get a partner a girl and a boy" the teacher had not even finished talking and yet they were already pairing themselves what if she already paired us

Someone passed me a note and it read.

"Hi I'm Zach I don't know if you know me but I sit two seats behind u I was just wondering if you would like to be my partner" then there was a yes or no tick

After reading it I internally scream I've had a crush on Zach since I started school here I didn't even think he knew I existed .

Of course I want to be his partner but before I tick yes

Mrs Williams says "I've paired all of you up now I know you might not like the idea but you need to know each other and not just a group of people"

The kids in my class groan and I join them .

Why me? This could have been my chance to get close to Zach .

"Here's the list . After this class you all can look and find out who your partner is " we all nod our heads in reply.

She hasn't even told us what the project is. If we don't know what to do then we don't have to do it right , I quickly look at my phone few more minutes and the period will be over this is great and just as I'm about to do a victory dance in my head Mrs Williams stands up to announce what the project will be about she explains that we have to write a script for a short play and we must do it together and explain how we came up with it she also said that the best script will be acted by the drama club and it will be graded .

The bell rang just as she was done explaining .

Curse you bell where were you when I needed you.

I waited for everyone to leave the class cause I didn't want to have to squeeze myself to see who I was partnered with.

I'm not really a physical contact person plus do you know how much germs could be on an average person talk more of an entire class struggling to look at a list.

I guess I'm not the only one who had the idea in mind cause Jake was still sitting in class

Finally the last person left, I stood up and made my way to the list .
