Chapter 14: It's Where My --Hide
Levi find himself in another vast space of cosmos. However, unlike Lei Jian's deep dark area where light is unable to penetrate, here is filled with brightness of white. Thick veils of clouds are flying to the highest stratosphere as they descended as soft fog which may prove this is heaven. He walked on the invisible surface of ground. His footsteps echoed loud along the quiet place.
A dark entity appeared in front of him. It's facade is not at all visible as it was smoking real intense with black haze. Opposite the bright atmosphere of the background, the entity is darker than any dark could be.
Levi could not see his true form aside from its eyes glowing crimson red.
"What are you?"
"The question should be What are you? Do you know who you are?", it was a raspy voice and is booming within the space.
"I.. am Levi. I am a human."
"You are not a mere human. There is something more inside you. Something that varies greatly from the race which you are raised with. And now I'm going to show you your real form."
The entity shrunk into the size of a kid and its black smoke seeped into his body. The figure was revealed to be a seven-year-old form of Levi. However, even though their appearance is strikingly familiar, the aura is very vague, different, and foreign. It was the complete opposite of him. The kid has a piece of paper sticking to his left cheek. On it are written something that resembles sealing array. But aside from that, his eyes is nothing but pure darkness. And when he spoke, only blackness was seen behind the mouth.
Levi was startled.
"I am you. And you are me. I am what defines the very deep of your soul. I am what sees through your heart and inner desires, I can read them. I am what intrudes your nightmares when you are asleep. I am the result of all the fears, sadness, despair, madness and resentment accumulated throughout these years. I am... your demon."
Levi was taken aback. The truth of having an inner demon is not surprising. But that the demon is as vast as the empty space he was in. That's why he can its prescence wherever he goes. It's because he was inside the demon itself. The figure in front of him is just a fragment of the actual entity.
It smirked. "That's right. I am all around you. Do you know how big exactly I am? You won't believe how much. That I can control your body whenever I want to. But Levi, your soul is far more valuable than any physical being. It is because you are the breed of a mixed race, the amalgation of two opposite fractions resulted by forbidden joining of good and evil. Don't you know about it? You yourself is only half portion of your whole self. The problem is that you don't realize that as you are only thinking of a goal. Levi, tell me. Do you consider me as part of your life?"
"Ah.. I..."
"You are most ignorant to yourself. You keep forgetting all the things I've done for you, pushing them all in the back of your head, for fear of being discovered, and be sentenced brutally of death. But the truth will always be truth. And you can't do anything to change it. Am I right?" An image hologram appeared in between them. There in the screen is the eye viewpoint of young Levi running away from a mad man who's trying to stab him with a bloody knife.
Levi watched in horror as the scene unfold. The scene finished when the screen turned crimson and scream of the man resounded along with a squishing sound of slashes.
"No. This can't be. I did not... You did it! It was you who did it!"
It laughed maniacally now sounding a lot demonic. The evidence was clear. With him as the witness of the crime himself, he is no doubt the perpetrator.
Levi fell on his knees and covered his face.
"Oh. Guilty are you? Here's another one." The screen changed to another scene. Still in the viewpoint of young Levi. He was flying a kite with his younger brother. But a tall boy came and grabbed his kite. Levi tried to reach for it but the tall boy pushed him back. He got mad and attacked him. Receiving a strong kick, he was thrown with his younger brother to the edge of the cliff. The loud cry of his brother getting distant and distant until it vanished and never be heard again, drove Levi insane and his vision turned crimson red. A loud boom was heard, like a mason smashing a coconut.
Levi keeps shaking his head. "No. This..." But something is blocking his throat and he can't deny anymore. He gulped. "This is not my own doing. You did it! You controlled me!"
"Nonsense, a**hole! It was clear it's you who did it! Still gonna blame me? I told you we are the same. We are one. We are half of each other, synonymously living as twins. But I have given up my role just for you. So you could live normally like any other children. Years, Levi. I counted years. And finally, it's my turn. You have to give me your soul. You have to let me devour it entirely."
Levi froze.
"Time has come up for you. For thirteen years, you have received all the blessings and freedom to do your desires. Now it's my turn. Come here and embrace me. Wear the seal that has been bounding me for eternality."
But Levi wouldn't respond. For years, he has tried to forget all horible events in his life. The life he was born in was full of tragedy. Every year, death after death has slowly destroyed his only foundation, which is family. What is most painful is the things he had done to this foundation of his. He can't admit that he is the reason for his solidarity. That's why he dug and dug a deep hole to bury those memories in his deepest heart. After a long time, those memories resurfaced in a form of demon. His demon.
"What I have done... they are already revealed. I can't take it back anymore. And even how long I will apologize, nothing will change. I am still Levi -an orphan boy who grew up in the slums. I won't argue back to anyone or anything if that is my fate. Because I deserved it. However, I am still alive. And that's the greatest reason why I still believe in hope. The heavens or hell may have set a dangerous path for me, but I will take it, accept it, cherish my remaining time until the day I die. Boy, we are not the same. No. Actually, we are complete opposite. We are both evil, however, I Levi has complete freedom whilst you are bound by a seal for eternity. That is my greatest power. To control my life, and walk the destiny I want to create. That is until the day I die. And before that happens, I will look at you in pity, as you are still caged in my dark past like a shadow without material form. Poor boy. So don't you dare take my freedom, because that is my greatest power!"
This time, the demon was stuck speechless. His brows turned into a frown and then madness. His eyes glow crimson red once more and he spoke into a voice of a great demon.
"I AM THE GREAT LORD OF HELL! HOW DARE A MERE HUMAN DEFY MY WORDS!! I STOOD IN THE PINNACLE OF CULTIVATION, HIGHER THAN ANY GODS! I AM HELPING YOU REACH A GREATER POWER. IT WAS A GREAT HONOR TO SERVE THIS HONORABLE LORD! BUT SINCE YOU DIDN'T LISTEN, I WILL CRUSH YOUR PUNY LITTLE SOUL!"
Saying so, the entire area shook vigorously and the heavens seems to crumble. Levi felt a devastating headache crushing his brain, and he shouted out loud.
"Aaaaaggghh..."
He trembled when a electrifying shock entered him. A dark liquid devoured his blood as it flows to his veins that they instantly blackened. Next, his bones cracks, his skin withers, and his inner organs freezes. The poison is forcefully stopping his brain cells from working. Levi fell down on the ground, still shouting very loud.
"Aaaaaaggghh..."
Then finally, the poison reached his heart; it thumped loudly for the very last time. And he dies.
Before his vision faded, he saw his family looking over him. They were all crying. Levi knows it may be the last dream he'll ever have. And he was satisfied to see their faces for the last time. He wants to apologize very much. But his throat was as dry as sandpaper and he can't gather energy to even open his mouth. Tears filled his vision. And before he closed them, he felt a cool drop of liquid caress his forehead.
"No! Stop that!"
