Chapter 3: lottery
its 9 25 am in the morning and the market is lively as business is good . there is a small shop in the farthest corner of the market and an old man is sitting on the counter smoking a cigarette. a young man with height of 178 cm and fit body wearing a black tracksuit is searching for something from the tickets scattered on the table of the counter .
the young man is our mc yamamoto Ken and the shop is a small tobacco shop in the market near his apartment. this morning, ken recieved a call from his mom . there was a small talk about family finances between mother and son but mom brushed off the subject quickly . ken is smart when it comes to guessing the tone of his mother so knew instantly that there must be shortage of money for something again .
ken really cared about his family so he decided to bet on his power THE EYE OF TRUTH and searched for a place where he could buy the winning ticket of lottery in Tokyo and the place turned out to be this unexpected small shop . there still exists doubt about his newfound powers inside Ken but he decided to believe in them anyway.
the tickets scattered on the table are all lottery tickets that are remaining . there are multiple companies sponsoring this lottery from all over japan and the first prize is 50 million yen . this is a law certified lottery and the results will be announced in today's evening newspaper . ken is searching for ticket number xxxx22022 while acting like he is just trying is luck . he finally found the ticket and is purchasing it from the old man .
he acts like he is reluctantly spending his money and says " old man , I have decided on this one . just pray that I win a prize , this month I'm really broke ."
old man gen accepts the money and gives Ken a form to fill his information " yes yes .. what's gotten into you Ken chan .. this is the first time you are buying a lottery ticket from me . do you need urgent money ? I can lend some .." old man says gently ..
" old man gen , you should save the money for your old age man .. you are 56 already "
" bakamono .. I'm only 52 right now "
" it's pretty much the same, anyway dont get angry old man . you are old already " ken replies while laughing . he quickly places the ticket carefully in the right pocket of his pants and runs off ignoring old man gen's angry face .

a small apartment in an old 2 story building. there are 2 rooms on the first floor and a ramen shop on the ground floor . the rooms on the first floor are rented by a young girl and a boy . inside the right room , ken is searching for the lottery prize announcements desperately in the evening newspaper .
he found it and the results erased all the doubts Ken carried about his powers now for good . the announcement read as follows -
5 th prize- xxxxxxxx.. tv set

1st prize - xxxxx22022 50 million yen cash
ken tries to control himself from shouting aloud in excitement as he realised that his power is great . he picks up his smartphone in a hurry and dials the number of his mom .
" hello mom , its ken ."
" how rare , what's the matter son ? its really rare for you to call me at this hour "
" mom , sis wanted to enroll in a medical college right ? guess what .. she can do so now ."
" this talk again . look son , you know that we cannot afford the absurd fees..."
" oh my lovely mom , who said that we cannot afford it . your son will take care of it . mom , I won a lottery now . hehehe .. it's the first prize . try to guess the prize " ken says while laughing lightly..
" 1 million yen ? son you know that ..."
ken interrupts and yells " mom , its 50 million yen cash prize hahaha.. your son is amazing isn't he "
mom stutters and says " really ? dont try to tease your mom "
ken assures her and hangs the call after explaining her that he is going to call the number written on the ticket and get his prize money quickly ...

ken calls his mom after settling everything and arriving back in his room .
" mom , it's me. I just took 500,000 yen and transferred the rest of the prize money into your account . now you wont have to worry about money for a while . your son will take care of the family now .." at the end of the last sentence, tears start flowing from Ken's eyes as he remembers the hardships he and his family faced in these last years .
he hangs up the call and lays down in his futon . he starts staring the old ceiling and thanks the truth god for her gift from bottom of his heart inwardly . after crying his frustrations out , his eyelids closed and he goes to sleep peacefully . he hasn't slept properly in a long time now because he was going through a hard time ..
