Chapter 18: 18. Lunch Break
(Sorry for the wait. The chapter kept going missing and I didn't have the energy to rewrite it.)
Yuki stood in front of Hina as she sat by her desk. He was no longer concerned about what she brought him here for.
His mind wandered as he thought about the food in the cafeteria. 'Will there be anything left to eat?'
Yuki knew about the lunch rush this school had. Normally he wouldn't be this hungry around this time of day, but his increased stats and his morning exercise had increased his need for food.
In fact, Yuki had barely eaten anything in the last 24 hours. It was no surprise that he was starving now.
But Hina had the chance to say anything, a growl came from Yuki's stomach.
"..."
An awkward silence followed as a blush crept onto Yuki's face.
Hina looked at her student and released a sigh. She didn't want to keep him long.
"You should pay more attention in class Takahashi-kun. While I understand that the lessons aren't always entertaining, it doesn't give you an excuse to..."
Yuki phased out as he automatically nodded to everything Hina said.
"Um...Is everything okay at home?" Hina finally asked the question on her mind.
Yuki looked at her in confusion. He didn't understand the reason for her question. Still, he gave a light smile as he responded, "Everything's good."
Hina looked at Yuki's sincere expression and gave up, she knew she might have been overthinking for a bit there.
"Alright, you may leave. Just make sure to pay attention in class next time." Hina said as she waved Yuki off.
Yuki gave a slight bow and said, "Thank you, Tachibana-sensei." as he basically sprinted out of the staff room. All he could think about was filling his stomach.
As Yuki fled from the room, he missed a sight he definitely wouldn't want to.
A light blush appeared on Hina's face after Yuki left the room. It took a lot of effort for her to keep a straight face after Yuki smiled.
Shaking her head to get rid of her distracting thoughts, she simply continued to plan her next lessons.
...
Yuki sighed as he stood in the cafeteria. It didn't take a genius to figure out that the was no longer any food left. With that, Yuki left the cafeteria dejectedly.
A thought came to his mind as he checked his pockets.
"I forgot my wallet..."
Yuki felt more dejected when he realised that he didn't even have his wallet. He couldn't even get a snack from one of the vending machines.
Yuki retreated to his classroom in defeat. For the first time in his life, Yuki felt a bit of dislike for one of his favorite waifus.
"Hey Yuki-kun! Over here!" Yuki heard a call as soon as he entered the class and realised it was Shu.
Shu was sitting with his usual friend group.
Yuki felt a little shy about joining them but decided to do so anyway.
"Hello everyone." Yuki greeted everyone as he sat down. He received some greetings in return.
"Oh Yuki, let me introduce you to everyone." Shu said when he noticed Yuki's awkwardness.
"No, it's okay. I know everyone. Ichijo-kun, Onodera-san, Miyamoto-san, nice to meet you all." Yuki said with a light smile.
"Never thought you'd actually talk to someone. Glad to see it's actually possible." Raku said with a smile.
"Nice to meet you too, Takahashi-kun." said Kosaki.
"Likewise." Ruri added.
"Are you guys ready for PE (A\N: Physical Education)?" Yuki asked the others.
"No, I didn't sleep well yesterday, so my body's a bit stiff." said Shu as he opened his lunch box.
"I guess I am, I just don't like getting sweaty." Ruri said.
"Same, what about you Ichijo-kun?" asked Kosaki.
"Hmm?" Raku was in a daze and didn't hear Kosaki's question.
"Is everything okay?" Shu asked when he saw that Raku was unfocused.
"I guess, I was just thinking about my necklace." said Raku.
"Necklace?" Ruri was a bit confused.
"Yeah, it's a memento I've kept since I was young."
"What happened to it?" Shu asked.
"It went missing after I ran into that stupid gorilla." Raku said with a hint of anger.
"Gorilla?" Everyone was a bit lost when they heard that.
"I meant Kirisaki-san." Raku cleared up.
"Are you sure?" Shu asked.
"Yeah, I'm pretty sure I had it on before that."
"I can help you look." Onodera quickly said.
"Thanks, but I don't think I'll need your help." Raku said as he didn't want to make Onodera labor for him.
"I see..."
*growl*
Everyone turned to Yuki only to see a faint blush spreading across his cheeks.
"Cute." said Ruri.
The red spread further as Yuki wished he could disappear.
