Chapter 3: Interconnection
The skies had already darken and the streets were illuminated by the tall buildings and streetlights. Eli checked the time, it was already 10.25pm, and could not believe that he was at the Beacon Bureau for over seven hours.
The way he was questioned by the Overseers almost fooled himself into believing that he is one of a head ringleader of an illegal syndicate, minus the torture of course!
The Overseers has confirmed that Eli's statement matched with his whereabouts by verifying GPS location on his mobile phone as well as few other background checks. He is just relieved that he can leave with the Wisps.
There were a lot of paperwork needed to be filled in and completed as well as getting the Wisps to be individually registered under the whoever found the Wisps. The Beacon Bureau had tried to seize all of the Wisps nationwide but it was futile as the Wisps would not let anyone to lay a finger on them apart from their Guardian.
Eli was officially recorded as one of the Guardian of the Spectrals. 'I guess I have to stop calling them Wisps now since the Beacon had it classified as Spectrals', he thought to himself.
When he brought up his concern regarding to the Spectrals' dietary needs, the Overseers has established based from other Guardians and analysis that the celestial being has shown inclination towards chromium.
Great! Not only he is struggling to support himself, he now also has to find ways to raise the Spectrals. Turns out silverwares and metal are not the only source of chromium.
Broccoli, potato, whole grains and eggs are thankfully rich in chromium to name a few.
There were a few Guardians at the Beacon but they were not allowed to mingle and kept in seclusion prior to their interview. Eli wanted to approached them but figured that they must still be as clueless as he was.

The marking on his index finger has been puzzling Eli. The more he examined it, the more captivated he become. The marking covered nearly the whole of his distal phalanx – the top section of his index finger to where the first crease folds.
He just realised that the marking eerily resembling the eye pupil when light is shone upon it and mushroom spore print. It is simply aesthetically stunning no matter how long he stared at it.
From his earlier observation, it seems that Bolt is the alpha of the three Spectrals that he recently acquired. Bolt could be the eldest or the only male, who knows? Gender might not even play any significant role in this if gender even exist for their species! Eli chuckled at that thought.
It seems that snapping fingers makes Bolt alert like how a dog obediently sits when a treat is being held in front of it. Any of Bolt's actions are imitated by both Solace and Glum simultaneously.
It is only a theory but Eli's concluded that Bolt's accidental zap had by some means created a link between both of them – like a bond. Now to figure out how to re-create the 'bond' with the other two.
The first time the Spectrals emerged from the meteorite, there was a high possibility of them feeling disoriented and scared. Maybe that was the reason of Bolt's zap. They are less hostile now and becoming more docile.
Out of curiousity, Eli typed 'Guardians of Spectrals' into the search engine on his phone, and received a lot of results. There were now numerous sites that host forums for Guardians to exchange knowledge on the Spectrals.

Nobody on the forum mentioned anything about markings or being zapped by the Spectrals. They are either still clueless like me or being cautious and refusing to share their findings.
Interestingly enough, there were Spectrals of different colours! Eli assumed all would be blue like his but so far colours red, yellow, green, white and black has been mentioned online.
The official Beacon Bureau website has already updated their main page posting a stern warning for those who has yet to register their Spectral. Failure to do so will result in the government to take legal action towards you and spend time behind bars along with a hefty fine of $1 million.
Responsibilities of the Guardians have also been listed down.
i. The Guardian must always adhere to local ordinances and to not misuse the Spectral(s) for any illegal purposes.
ii. The Guardian must ensure to prevent the Spectral(s) to negatively impact other people, animals and environment.
iii. The Guardian must make arrangements and contact Beacon Bureau if unable to handle the Spectral(s).
iv. The Guardian must never leave the Spectral(s) out of their sight.
v. The Guardian must always update to Beacon Bureau for any new findings.
Eli just could not digest all that information for today. A mobile phone app is currently being developed for easier tracking and provide latest updates for the Guardians as well as monitoring any new development on the Spectrals.
'Never leave the Spectrals out of sight? This is a joke! How am I supposed to go to work now?!', feeling extremely exasperated he plopped himself on the bed and tossed his phone to his pillow.
Eli succumbed to exhaustion and fell asleep instantly in that pose. The fan setting was still on high and the cold air fluttered his hair making him quiver.
As soon as his eyes was closed, he suddenly appeared in a unfamiliar space, it was complete darkness. Bolt unexpectedly appear in front of him and started showing him visions.
He experienced roller coaster of emotions as the vision was projected at a rate that Eli had inadequate time to process. His brain was pushed to the limit with all that information. Yet at the same time, he feels that something is changing at a molecular level, subtle but it made him feel invigorated!
Eli woke up in soaked in sweat. 'What was that? Was it just a dream or did Bolt just tried to communicate with me?'
