Chapter 9: Double Gym Battle
Pokemon: Wandering Soul Chapter 9
Sorry about my weird update schedule, I just have my exams right now and some other stuff.
Please leave a review if you think there is something wrong with my writing and if there are a lot of mistakes.

"Surprised?" Viola asked Soul with a cheeky grin. Soul looked at her expression then sighed as he readied his Pokemon. Both Gym leaders did the same and threw out theirs.
"Come on out, Vivillon!/Go, Aurorus!" Both Gym Leaders yelled as they chose their respective Pokemon.
Both Pokemon stood/hovered in the field as they yelled out their cries.
'What do you think the challenger will pick?'
'Heh, I reckon that his Pokemon are weak.'
A tickmark formed beside Hunter. He was really annoyed with these rich kids. Unfortunately, he won't get to show off.
"Arch, Shade," Soul said as he let out his Pokemon. All knew what a Banette was because it could Mega Evolve, but what was a Runerigus?
The Banette named Shade was released. It laughed sinisterly as he stared down his opponents. He then looked at his trainer and laughed at his attire. Soul shook his head and just smiled and waved at the Banette. Shade let out his cry and looked beside him and just stared at the huge 'rune'.
All of them except Soul weirdly looked at the 'rune' that was in the field. Shade cackled as Soul did a miniature facepalm and motioned Shade to do something. Shade stopped cackling and went to the 'rune'. Shade then knocked on the rune as it shook. The ruined kept shaking and arms came out surprising everyone.
"You can sleep later, Arch," Soul said as the rune shook.
"Runerigus..." It spoke in a deep tone as it scared the Vivillion. Viola and Grant shook out of their trance as Zap appeared behind Soul.
Runerigus, the Grudge Pokemon
Runerigus was formed from a painting imbued with an ancient curse, which was activated by absorbing the spirit of a Yamask and brought the painting to life. Anyone that touches its shadowy body will have the memories behind its painting's creation forced onto them.
Zap then returned to Soul's pocket. The crowd shivered at its description. Viola and Grant just stood there and prepared themselves for the battle.
"Let's start, Aurorus!" The Aurorus roared and hail started to form. Viola glared at Grant who looked at her questioningly. Grant then turned his vision to her Vivillon and saw it taking damage from the hail. Grant sheepishly scratched his head as Viola sighed and commanded her Pokemon.
(Disclaimer: The stats of the base stats of Pokemon are different in my fanfic. For example, Vivillon has 411 total stats, it will be boosted up to about 550 or so since it is a Gym Leader's Pokemon. I won't really use this concept though since this IS a fanfiction, I can make a Dunsparce OP for all I care.)
"Stun Spore." Spores came from behind Vivillon as its eyes glowed.
"Use Psychic on the spores." The spores glowed blue as Vivillon's eyes. The spores then darted towards Shade.
Soul narrowed his eyes on the spores but kept an eye on the Aurorus if it will come and attack.
"Will O' Wisp, then Taunt." The Banette cackled as wisps formed behind him and dashed towards the spores. The status inflicting moves clashed together with both fading. Shade took the chance and taunted the Vivillon who glared at him.
'So much for that strategy...' Viola thought. Even if Taunt's effect would fade, he can just set it up again.
"Power Gem, Aurorus!" Grant commanded as rocks formed behind Aurorus and glowed white. A beam was formed and it shot towards Shade who was taunting Vivillon more. Soul noticed this and made his next move.
"Arch, block the attack in your rune form," Soul said. Arch then fell into a shadow and appeared in front of the beam. It closed itself and the attack hit the Runerigus, dead-on.
The beam then faded and they saw no damage to its form.
(I know that they don't have much HP, but maybe they did some EV training?)
'A shield, huh?' Grant surmised as he scanned the Runerigus.
"Shadow Claw, Arch. Shadow Ball, Shade." The Pokemon nodded to their trainer's command as they readied their attack. Arch's shadowy arms flapped and turned into claws while Shade laughed menacingly and formed a Shadow Ball.
"Bug Buzz!/Ice Beam!" The Bug Buzz attack was directed towards the Shadow Ball while the Ice Beam was aimed at Arch. The Bug Buzz and Shadow Ball collided and a huge dust cloud formed. The Ice Beam went through the dust cloud and they waited.
"RUNERIGUS!" The Grudge Pokemon shouted as he appeared behind Aurorus.
"Don't you think you have used that Phantom Force tactic too much?" Blaze said. Soul looked back at Blaze and snickered. Blaze glared at him.
"HE MADE ME WEAR IT!" Blaze said, pointing to his partner, Infernape. Infernape just whistled innocently and ignored Blaze.
Arch then slashed at Aurorus and landed a critical hit. The Tundra Pokemon cried in pain as it Grant called in his move.
"Ancient Power!" Glowing boulders formed behind Aurorus as its eyes glowed blue. Soul's eyes narrowed.
Grant was trying to get the boost that Ancient Power gives rarely when it hits...
The rocks hit the Grudge Pokemon as it just shrugged it off. Suddenly, Aurorus's body glowed. Soul facepalmed.
'Just my luck...'
Grant smirked. Viola on the other hand was having a hard time with the Banette.
"How is it even fighting without you commanding it?!" Viola said in an annoyed tone. Shade just laughed at her which made her more annoyed.
"Quiver Dance!" Viola commanded. The Vivillon flew up and danced around...
Its body glowed.
Shade forgot to use Taunt because he was getting cocky.
Sand and Shade shared a look. Soul glared at him to which he just laughed.
"Ancient Power!/Psychic!" They both commanded.
Rocks formed behind the Aurorus faster than before. The rocks then glowed blue and the rock shot towards Arch.
Without needing the command. Arch turned into rune form and closed himself. The attach hit and the Grudge Pokemon let out a grunt as he took the attack. Arch was more damaged and 3 more hits to him would end it.
Viola and Grant were ready to attack again but they were interrupted by Soul. Soul just looked at Arch and nodded.
"Haze," Soul said as a black cloud surrounded the field. Viola and Grant looked at each other and just attacked.
The haze covered the whole field and made contact with Vivillon and Aurorus.
"Hurricane!"
It was too late, their stat boosts have been reset.
A hurricane formed and the hail particles joined with it.
"Shadow Ball and Will O' Wisp, Shade. Earthquake, Arch." Both Pokemon did their respective cries then attacked.
The hurricane headed towards Shade, he cackled and quickly hid behind Arch. Arch blankly stared at him and... sighed?
Arch 'jumped' in its coffin form and the ground shook. Aurorus cried out in pain and glared at the Grudge Pokemon, but he was nowhere to be seen...
They heard a cackle from below Vivillon. A Shadow Ball with wisps appeared in front of the Vivillon and it also cried out in pain and fainted.
They all saw a Runerigus and Banette beside each other.
Viola returned Vivillion and threw out a Scizor that had a Mega Stone.
(I am sorry if the Mega Evolution thing is getting really redundant...)
"Blizzard!" Grant commanded. A huge gust of wind came out from Aurorus's mouth and was directed towards Arch. Before the attack hit, Soul decided to return him since he would it would be defeated if it would hit. Shade took the attack but survived.
"I forfeit, Arch..." Soul said as he switches his Pokemon. The referee nods and tells him to release his other Pokemon.
(I changed Chapter 8 and said that no substitutions were allowed for both sides, sorry. Also, I accidentally replaced Chapter 7 with the content of Chapter 8... so yeah, this chapter got delayed a bit and I needed to fix some things.)
Soul releases Dusk, the Aegislash.
"Shadow Sneak." As soon as he released Dusk, he commanded him to attack. The Aegislash complied and used Shadow Sneak on Aurorus before it could react. Due to the damage, it took from the Earthquake, it fainted.
Grant smirked and released his next Pokemon.
"AERO!" It screeched as it was released, and as per every battle, it also Mega Evolved.
Both Mega Pokemon stood side by side while Shade was hiding behind Dusk.
"Bullet Punch." The claw of Mega Scizor glowed and disappeared in a flash and reappeared behind Shade and punched him right on the face, landing a critical hit. Shade smirked as he threw a Will O' Wisp at the Scizor as he fainted. The Mega Scizor grunted as it was enveloped in flames.
Soul returned the Banette. He then released his next Pokemon, Snow.
The Froslass floated and suddenly, Viola was on the battlefield taking loads of pictures of her.
"..." All was silent, with the crowd looking at the scene with confusion. The Mega Scizor sighed along with the Mega Aerodactyl.
"Scizor..." The Mega Scizor said as it got the attention of Viola. Viola sheepishly smiles as she returns to her place.
Soul was silent the whole time with Blaze also copying him.
'I will definitely ask her to give me some pictures...' Hunter thought as he will plan to negotiate with Viola...
The referee then said to continue the battle.
"Are you finally going to use Mega Evolution?" Blaze yelled. Soul shook his head as he focused.
"Shadow Ball." A ball formed and shot towards the Scizor.
"X-Scissor." The Mega Scizor made a cross with its class and blocked the attack. It kept its cross position as it closed in on Snow.
"King's Shield." Dusk then blocked the attack as it changed stance.
Suddenly, the Mega Scizor was hit in the side by an Ice Beam. It took a step back as it shrugged it off.
"Rock Slide!" Rocks started to form in the air as it fell towards Soul's Pokemon.
"Blizzard." The move stopped the falling rocks and threw it towards the Mega Pokemon. The Mega Scizor was about to dodge but stopped as it felt a cold feeling on its wings. The rocks hit the Scizor, taking a direct hit. The Mega Aerodactyl dodged it all easily. It stopped flying and got hit in the air by a huge sword.
It was Dusk.
"Phantom Force." The Mega Aerodactyl grunted as it glared at Dusk.
Then, the battlefield started going dark. The Mega Scizor immediately went into a defensive stance along with the Mega Aerodactyl. All looked at Soul and had something glowing on his wrists...
"Never Ending Nightmare..." Soul said as shadow hands took hold of bother Mega Pokemon and they both disappeared down the floor.
(I know they don't hit both Pokemon but LOGICALLY, it works."
The shadows then turned to fire as it quickly changed to normal and showed both fainted Pokemon.
It was silent as both Gym Leaders returned their Pokemon.
"B-Both Pokemon are unable to battle, Soul Ecto wins." The referee stuttered as he was shocked at what happened.
Dusk just stood there as he stared at Snow who was holding a smile...
Hunter got the chills as he saw his 'mate' wreck 2 Mega Pokemon.
"How are you not the champion of your region?" Grant asked as Soul just shrugged. Grant just stared at him as he let out a laugh.
"Well, here are both of our badges," Grant said as he gave Soul the Bug Badge and the Cliff Badge. Viola had her camera out as she looked at Soul with stars in her eyes.
"Can I please take a picture of your Froslass?" She said quickly as Soul tried to understand what she said. Soul then returned Dusk and looked at Snow. Snow was giggling with Hunter 'smiling' and Infernape looking at them in amusement. Infernape waved at Snow who waved at him back, Hunter glared at him. Infernape laughed at him.
"If she doesn't mind," Soul said as Viola nodded and let out a small cloud of dust as she appeared in front of the Froslass. She asked the Froslass if she can take pictures of her. Snow then agreed as Viola readied her camera, that was gone. She quickly panicked but soon heard a lot of...
*CLICK* *CLICK* *CLICK*
They all turned to the sound of the clicking and saw Hunter with Viola's camera, taking pictures of Snow. Hunter then used some Phantom Forces to seemingly appear around Snow in fast speeds.
They all looked at the Decidueye who finally stopped taking pictures and gave the camera back to Viola that had a note. Viola who was in a state of confusion looked at the note and it read.
"Give me a copy of those, please." Viola then looked at the owl, who was awaiting her response. She gives him a smile as she nods. She turns towards Soul as she approached him.
"Your Pokemon are strong... and they also have some unique characteristics..." Soul wryly smiled at her.
"Well then, I will make sure to give some pictures to Valerie." She says as she takes 10 pictures of Soul in a tuxedo.
"Are you guys leaving now?" Grant said as he looked at both Blaze and Soul.
"Soul is the one making decisions here, but can we stay here?" Blaze said as he looked at Soul. Soul then gave him a look that asked 'Why?'
"They are holding a buffet here and I got pretty hungry watching you battle, right Infernape?" The ape nodded to his trainer's statement.
*GROWL*
Blaze smiled while scratching his head. Soul shook his head and let out a chuckle.
"We will leave later," Soul said as the 4 of them laughed.

Welp, this is a huge problem...
Something happened to my keyboard and has broken my spacebar, meaning I will have a hard time writing chapters on my laptop.
Sorry for the late update and it took like, a week to finish this, hopefully, you understand...
This will be the final battle chapter for now and the following chapters will mostly be a slice of life. Again, sorry for the late update.
If there are any grammar mistakes, I will immediately replace them after finishing the chapter, so no worries there.
