Chapter 3: Chapter 3
"What!!!" Jimin tugged Yoongi's arm so that they can keep following Yumei and he whispered. "Mr Kazuma made it clear that she needed to be protected at all times."
Yoongi let out a frustrated sigh, "But why me and not you?"
Jimin paused at the wall and watched as Yumei entered the university doors. "Because if it was me she would know instantly that I am lying but with you, " Jimin's grin widened, "No one would know because you are way too serious."
Yoongi bit his lip, "I don't want to do this..." Jimin went behind him and gave him a light push to the front doors. "Oh, you have 3 classes with her." Yoongi turned his head back at Jimin, "I what?"
Jimin gave him the thumbs up. "Enjoy!" He started whistling and went back to the limo. Yoongi slowly approached the doors, his legs turned into jelly. He didn't like crowded places at all, what would his father say if he saw him now?
How will he explain this to Yumei? She was going to freak out! 'I am going to kill Jimin for this...'He lost his train of thought when he saw a familiar face in the crowd and he ducked behind the corner. 'Why is my brother here?'
Yumei was standing behind a couple of other kids that looked at the notice board. She was short and couldn't see what was happening. A few kids were excitedly talking among themselves when they heard a stern voice. "Our fellow freshmen, please follow us to the auditorium."
The talking stopped, Yumei blinked and saw two good looking seniors pointing in a direction. The crowd was slowly walking when she felt someone brush silently against her and she turned her gaze right. Her shock turned into anger but when she tried to open her mouth Yoongi pressed his finger against her lips.
Her eyes widened but gave him a nod and he removed his finger. They entered the auditorium and Yoongi dragged her towards the back row. They sat down and Yoongi sunk deeper into the chair.
Yumei turned her angry glare towards him and whispered. "You said father was more than happy to let me do this alone!"
Yoongi didn't look at her, his eyes were darting around to the front. Yumei pinched his underarm, "Look at me when I am talking to you." Yoongi let out an angry hiss. "I am not here to spy on you... I actually joined the university as a student."
Yumei wasn't convinced but before she could retort a voice filled the auditorium. "Good morning, freshmen." There was a mumble of 'Morning', "We are the welcoming committee of the university and we will be giving you a short initiation which will only be two weeks."
Yoongi gulped, his fears had been realised. He had to skip this initiation the one way or the other. "So let us introduce ourselves." The one on the right was waving at them with a bright smile. "I am Jung Hoseok." The one on the left gave them a salute. "I am Kim Jin." Yumei heard some of the girls squealing in delight and she rolled her eyes when she turned her gaze back at Yoongi, her eyes widened, he was sweating.
She tapped his leg, "Yoongi are you alright?" He finally turned his gaze to her and wiped his brow. "I am alright, when do you think we can leave here?"
She narrowed her eyes. "Yoongi you do not look alright at all. Are you-"
Yoongi held up his hand at her, "I am fine I promise you." Yumei rolled her eyes, he always did this, when they were smaller and he just got to their mansion he was drawn back into a shell. Jimin got him out of the shell but each time she showed any concern for him, he would shrug it off.
Yoongi averted his eyes back to the stage. " So freshman, we are only going to start with the initiation tomorrow, so we will divide you into two groups and take you on a grand tour."Yoongi grabbed Yumei's hand and gripped it tight. "Yoongi, you are hurting me..." He blinked and looked down.
"I am so sorry," He let go. "Would you mind if we skip the tour?" Yumei cocked her head at him and confusion was written all over her face. "Yoongi..." Something was definitely wrong with Yoongi and she is not going to stop until she found out what happened. "Okay, I can see you want to do this stupid grand tour."
And there he closed up to her again, she learned it the hard way when they were smaller, she asked him one day if he was an orphan because he didn't talk about his parents. He pushed her to the ground and pulled her hair, she cried out and that was when Jimin came to her rescue.
He mumbled an apology to her and she gave one in return. So that was how their rocky friendship started she tried her best to get him to open up and he would just close up on her. One thing was certain, Jimin she could count on any emotional support but Yoongi was always there when something bad happened.
Yumei will never forget that one of her father's friends brought his pit bull terrier upon his visit and she was afraid of dogs. She was playing tag with the smaller children when the dog came rushing at her and she closed her eyes, waiting for the impact but it didn't come. When she opened her eyes, Yoongi stood before her and the dog clutched his arm, he looked back to her and asked if she was okay... Her knees had buckled and she sat flat on the ground with her eyes wide.
Her father's friend wanted to get rid of the dog but she and Yoongi defended the dog, they said in unison that the dog was afraid that she, Yumei was going to hurt them and the dog only acted out of defence. That evening she helped him to bandage his arm, they were 15 at that time.
Yumei blinked. Yoongi was waving his hand before her face. " Sorry, I have spaced out. Why don't we go to Hoseok's group?" She swore she could see relief in Yoongi's eyes but didn't mention it.
The got up from the chairs and followed in the direction of Hoseok. Yoongi pulled lightly on her arm." I am Kiryu Shoma."
She was still convinced this is planned but replied, "Nice to meet you Kiryu. I am Yuki Dodjima."
