Chapter 15: Extra 4

Crecylla wakes up in a cold sweat. She feels hot tears rolling down her face, and she feels her breathing grow ragged. What was she dreaming of, why was it here, she hadn't had a nightmare in so long, and she swore she couldn't feel anyone next to her. She jumps off the bed, and she runs around the cottage looking for Cyrus. Where was he!? She races to find him at the balcony, and he wraps his arms around her when he finds that she's crying.

Cyrus is worried when Crecylla runs to him sobbing, she hadn't cried since she had ran from the kingdom. So to find her shaking from her tears was a little concerning. He holds her close, and he lets her cry her eyes out. Her breathing grows normal eventually, and when he hears her crying go softer, he whispers to her. What happened love? Did you dream of something scary? I'm right here love. He hums a soft tune to her, and she relaxes slightly in his arms.

Crecylla doesn't know what she dreamed of, but it was so lucid, so alive, and it scared her. The feeling of overwhelming loneliness, and it felt like drowning. She mumbles that it felt like home in her younger years, and Cyrus' heart nearly breaks when he hears. He rubs circles on her back, and he carries her to their cushioned floor. He carries her, and places her down gently. Cyrus turns to light a candle, and Crecylla clings onto him. He chuckles.

The cottage is lit with candles. and he holds Crecylla to his chest. She whimpers, and he sings her a soft melody. He wanted her to calm down, forget her fears temporarily. She still shakes by the end of the song, but her breathing stabilizes. She lets her emotions out, and she hiccups. He pats her on the back gently, in an attempt to get her to stop hiccuping. At least she wasn't crying anymore.

Cyrus listens, and he always does, he takes in all the words she throws at him, and when she finally stops speaking, Cyrus smiles softly. He wipes her tears away gently, and his rough hands feel comforting against Crecylla's soft skin. He kisses her on the head, and lists all the reasons why she no longer had to fear her dreams. He was there for her, he would fight them off for her, and he would never even think of leaving her. He loves her, and that was all it took to fight off her fears.

Crecylla sleeps much better after his words to her. She falls asleep against the rising and sinking of Cyrus' chest, and he loves her too much to move. He falls asleep on the floor, and drapes the end of the rug against them as a makeshift blanket. He thinks over what else he could've done to help the girl, and grows satisfied when his answer is nothing more. He didn't mind sleeping like this as long as she could sleep well.

Cyrus gasps when he feels Crecylla slipping out of his hands. His dream felt so real, and when he finds a cup of tea next to the bed and Crecylla's hand sticking out the window, he calms down a little. He hugs Crecylla from her back, and she turns around so that she's hugging him. She soothes him with soft words and fragile songs. Her voice is serene, and she blends in with the peaceful night of the farm.

When Cyrus wakes up from a nightmare, Crecylla draws circles on his chest, and he rests his head in the crook of her neck and shoulder, and cries softly. She didn't mind his sniffling, and while he cried, she moved the clouds so that the moon could shine through. He exhales softly when he sees the gentle glow of the moon, and he paces his breathing. He tries his best to recompose himself, but he usually couldn't. His breathing struggles for a bit, and finally, he's able to somewhat calm down.

He didn't get nightmares often, so Crecylla could feel whenever he was having a nightmare, his tossing and turning was evident. She always preps him a nice cup of tea, and then starts on the clouds for the night. She doesn't sleep often, and when she does, she has nightmares. Her dreams are awfully realistic, and her sense of reality and her hallucinations are blurry sometimes. So when Cyrus has nightmares, she's there for him. She wants him to know that he didn't need to worry, and that she would be there for him. She wants to provide a safe place for him, and she wants him to feel loved.

His words are whispers, and if you didn't listen closely, you might miss them. He lets out his insecurities freely, and his voice is fragile. His lungs might give out on him at any moment, and his breath comes out in fragments. His body shakes softly and when he finally calms down, Crecylla runs her hands through his hair. He's half laying on the girl, and he clings onto her after calming down.

They stay that way for a long time. The silence is comforting, and they both reflect over the day. Crecylla kisses the top of Cyrus' head gently, and she coos at him to sleep. She massages his head lightly, and he relaxes against her chest. He hums along with her after awhile, and Crecylla's voice gradually fades into Cyrus'. He found that singing his old lullaby songs were always helpful. He sings them often, and they described the night's beauty by itself. He didn't need to sing the song to know how gorgeous the night was.

Cyrus sleeps fast after. He didn't fear the night, not when there was the night's ruler with him. He slept wonderfully thanks to her. He clings onto her waist after he has a nightmare, and Crecylla resumes whatever craft she was doing from before he started tossing and turning. She hums softly, and Cyrus falls asleep quickly, but she doesn't stop humming until she herself feels tired and tucks herself in for the night.
