Chapter 3: Hunt for Mason
After gathering a light information and buying the food she got inside the grocery stand, she went straight outside holding the paper bag on her hand and a bag of potato chip on her other hand. She bit the plastic wrapper of the product to open it, when she succeeded, she poured some on her mouth enough to turn her cheeks grew steeply.
"Let's go again," she said to herself while munching the food in her mouth.
Patricia took a gulp on her soda before maneuvering her car to the bridge where the old woman told her recently.
When she was still with her elder sister, Bianca Smith, they were happy even though they only living in an old, delicate, and disorderly house they inherited from their late parents, she could say that she experienced happiness. They could eat enough with the use of the money they got from selling vegetables and fruits at the market, they had spent many moments with each other in which their favorite bond was watching the stars at night because they believed that their parents were watching them from above. Since they were still a kid, they accept the fantasy they heard from elders saying that their parents really didn't leave them, they just turned into a beautiful stars and rose up the sky.
"So this is the bridge." Patricia glanced what was under the bridge but won't able to see any suspicious act.
She waited and kept watching until one skeptical man wearing a white cap, mask, white t-shirt with a blue jacket on top, lounge short, and sneakers showed up. She took her binocular to see clearly the man's face, but she couldn't take shot because of the man's agility.
"I would design a binocular with a camera that can capture a fast movement of a person," she kidded to herself.
Patricia went out of her car to follow the man but to her disappointment, that wasn't George. They were currently under the bridge reason why Patricia continued her surveillance in the place. There, she saw walls and post surrounded by vandalism.
When she glanced at the other side of the walls where she was currently at, she saw the guy a while ago, pulling a bag of white crystal in his pocket. The time he completely brought out the bag, Patricia immediately took her move to catch the act of the drug user.
"Don't move or else I have no choice but to dig a bullet in your head."
"Okay, I'll surrender," the guy said before raising his both hand as a sign of his submission.
"Do you have any idea how dangerous this area?"
"What do you mean? I'm always hanging out here but nothing happens to me."
"How about those rumors circulating here? They said that when you go here, you will not be able to come back."
"Then why are you here if you know that rumors?"
Patricia's eyebrows lowered and her upper lips slightly raised because of disgust. "I can handle myself. I can save myself without the help from others. By the way, I know you heard the name, George. Do you have any idea where I can find him?"
The guy laugh which made her more displease. "Wait, don't tell me that you followed me here because you are expecting that you will see that psycho. You've got a wrong information because we only spread that rumors for us to do our transaction here freely."
Patricia teased him and and grinned. "Thanks for the info, now, I have a reason to arrest you, Idiot!"
"You're going to arrest me? Let us have a deal. I have an idea where you can find that psycho. I will help you if you'll let me escape."
Patricia considered what the guy said. She would ride to his mischievous idea but it didn't mean that he would withdraw him or let him leave.
"Okay, deal," she agreed in lies but as soon as she walked, the guy secretly picked his knife to target her.
She noticed it but act as if nothing else happened. However, when the guy finally ready to prick that knife to her, she immediately took her response to it, groped the arm of the guy and positioned the tip of knife against him.
The expected scene exchange because the guy was now in uncertain situation. "Are you high? Do you think you can harm me that easily? If I were to decide, I would make sure that you are in the grave now because of what you did!"
"Be calm. I'm just testing you!"
"Testing your face!" Patricia moved the knife closer to his abdomen which made the guy pale.
"Stand straight and bring me where the psycho is!"
In an instant, the guy walked with no complaints and brought her to the bar located underground. According to Lucas, the guy with him, the bar was the place where all of the users and pushers were staying in their free time. He said that there was a man named Mason accidentally discovered where did the psycho was resting. They didn't dare to ask Mason because they were also afraid to him. Nevertheless, there was a gossip that Mason was a secret friend of George, the psycho.
After a moment of walk, they succeeded entering inside the bar. The wall inside was painted with dark color and fixated with wine racks. The hardy bar table sized exactly for twenty stools, attested how wide the table was.
There was also a bunch of guys, fooling around, teasing each other, chatting in a loud voice, and swearing as a sign of enjoyment in conversation. There was also a drunk people whom creates a violence or demanding a fight.
"Ma-Mason," Lucas called with stuttering voice.
A giant man, looking like a big boss, turned around his head to see who was behind.
"What do you want?" Mason asked in deep voice that whoever could hear would surely stumble for shivering.
"Someone is looking for you."
"Who?"
Lucas changed his attention back to Patricia reason why Mason sharpened his stare to Patricia.
"You didn't inform me that it's hottie woman...what is it, honey?"
Patricia feel irritated when Mason grabbed her waste, but in a blink of an eye, Mason tumbled down on the floor.
"Answer all of my questions if you don't want to die inside this place!" Patricia threatened Mason.
Because of what just happened, the scene created a crowd where in the three of them, Patricia, Mason and Lucas was the star.
