Chapter 4: Moon's End

'What the fuck!!... Am I dead?!'

Magnus examined his body after suddenly waking up. Seeing that there's no stab wound in his neck and the sheets being spotlessly clean, he concluded that what happened last night was a dream.

'I say that's a strange dream! Anyway, where's Tris?' Magnus looked around as he tried to stand up.

But when Magnus tried to get off the bed, he suddenly felt something heavy pressing against him.

'So she's here huh?' Magnus thought excitedly as he quickly lifted the sheets with a lecherous smile on his face as if looking forward on doing something again.

Magnus wanted to surprise Tris into waking up by shouting, but instead of seeing Tris he was greeted with a strange sight after finally lifting the sheets.

"What the fuck is this thing?!" Magnus looked as if his soul left his body. His face went pale as he screamed.

"So you're finally awake, I'd strongly advise not to scream."

Magnus suddenly heard a woman speak and so he turned around to see where the voice came from. Magnus saw a figure leaning on the door frame.

"Tris? Is that you?" He asked curiously.

"That's right." Tris replied in return.

"Why is my body laying down here lifelessly? Am I really dead?..." Magnus wanted to ask Tris about many things, but in the end he couldn't muster up the courage to do so.

"You're surprisingly calm about all of this... seeing how passionate you were last night," Tris chuckled as she spoke.

"I'm not calm! It's just too many things are happening way too fast, and maybe my emotions can't keep up." Magnus's face flushed, but he replied with a cold tone.

"I know that you have a lot of things on your mind, but you should have a look outside first." Tris replied as she pointed at the window.

"Is there anything to else see? I didn't really believe in anything when I was alive so maybe one of the gods punished me and it'll be just me in a dark endless void," Magnus said in a low voice, he unwillingly turned around and slid the curtains to the side so that he could get a good look outside.

It was at this time that Magnus became shocked yet again. Magnus saw a city outside his house, it looked as if it was nighttime but the bright neon lights made it difficult for him to decide. He saw things that he hasn't seen before, even in movies, shows, and the games he played when he was alive.

"Is this the afterlife?" Magnus looked back to ask Tris but this time he didn't have a sorrowful expression but had an astonished look on his face instead.

"Beautiful isn't it? Some people call this the afterlife, but we call it 'Moon's End'. You'll know why when you get to spend a bit of time here," Tris answered Magnus.

"Do you remember that I've also said that your pitiful life would end last night?" She asked.

"I remember it clearly, what did you mean by that?" Magnus replied

"I didn't bring you here for no reason, also you aren't dead yet. I just brought your soul here and given some time you can come back here with your actual body."

"You stabbed me, how can I not be dead?" Magnus asked curiously.

"The thing I stabbed you with wasn't a normal knife, it was a special key that was only given to candidates." Tris answered Magnus.

"Special key given to candidates... what that?" Magnus asked once again.

"We're the unofficial successors of endless realms, planets, universes, dimensions or whatever you may call it. I'm fighting for the position of a lower dimension monarch." Trista replied.

"Tris, I just want you to know that what you're saying sounds completely ridiculous to me, but seeing where I am right now it makes believing you inevitable."

"I need your help, Magnus." Tris replied.

"You need my help? What could a puny human being like me do in a fight that involves dimensions, that's right, I also remember you saying 'That's three', what did you mean by that?"

"There's two other servants besides you."

"What? Have I also become your servant?" Magnus was curious.

"You can also call it that, but I wouldn't do so. You will hold a special position among them because you're a person of significance to me."

"If that's how it is, then I suppose that being your subordinate is better than living aimlessly. At least now I have something to do." Magnus accepted the fact that he became someone's subordinate pretty easily. Before he asked Tris again.

"Do i know that other two?"

"You do Magnus and you know them very well"

"Can you tell me who they are?" Magnus inquired.

"It's Xiong Min and Wang Ley, I used them in order to get you."

"What? Does that mean that the rumors were all made up by you?" Magnus was dumbfounded.

"That's right, I wanted to know how you would react if something like that happened to me. You didn't disappoint." Tris replied.

"Th-then does that mean that you haven't really done it with the old man?"

Magnus asked in a quiet manner. The entirety of his face was painted with a shade of red at the moment. But he only saw Tris laughing at him, so he became embarrassed. Magnus could only scratch the back of his head before asking again to divert Trista's attention away from his embarrassing question.

"Now that I'm here, what am I supposed to do?"

"I'll explain it when the time comes, but for now go have a look around Moon's End, meet me here tomorrow afternoon."

"Alright then, I'll head out for now."

With that, the long conversation between the two ended as Magnus leaves the place he's staying in to take a stroll and see what Moon's End had to offer.

Magnus saw a building that protruded even from the countless building here, so he wanted to go there first since that thing was probably the equal of a city hall back in Lucenia. On his way, Magnus passed by several places that made his mouth gape in awe.

Moon's End was like a nightless district that never becomes dark. He saw people in flying mounts, people who were using flying swords and even people who were just flying with nothing and several more. It was a strange sight, yet bizarre.
