Chapter 166: Spell Upgrades
It was our second day of training. The old man told us that today we were supposed to be improving on our magic but he was still yet to show up.
"So what do you guys think he meant by upgrading our spells?" I asked.
"Did I not tell you when I was teaching you the basics of magic?" Alice asked.
I shook my head. I didn't have a clue what she was talking about. With everyone giving me a worried look I began to think that whatever this was must have been important.
"All spells come with different forms, each one being incredibly stronger than the last. Of course it's not easy to unlock the next form." The old man appeared on the scene as if he wasn't twenty minutes late.
"He's right. I'm sure if you can unlock the next forms of your Flame Slash you'll be able to have it look like Akira's." Alice said.
That took me by surprise. I always thought that the spell he used was a completely different one from Flame Slash. Either way, I still wanted to learn how to do it.
"That's great in all but how do I unlock a spells next form?" I asked.
"Training, experience, you name it. Of course you'll have to change your spell's incantation. Akari, could you show them an example?" The old man asked.
Akari nodded her head and created a large distance between her and everyone else. With how her arms moved, I could tell she was using Wave Crash but something seemed different this time.
"Wave Crash: Form Two." She said, suddenly thrusting both her palms out.
A gust of wind with the force of a large wave blew all around the area. Unlike the first form, this one make a wind that surrounded the entire area. It also felt stronger by at least ten-fold.
"Impressive right?" The old man said.
My friends and I all nodded our heads in agreement. The world of magic just seemed to keep growing with no end in sight and I was all for learning all there was to it.
"Well now that you've seen it and understand what you have to do, I'll go ahead and put you to the test." The old man said.
"Wait what?" Akio said, his face filled with confusion.
With the snap of the old man's finger, we had been transported inside of a dark cave. Red eyes began to appear around us and just stared at us from a distance.
"I'm going to severely hurt that old man when we get back." Alice said, taking her staff and aiming it at a group of red eyes.
I unsheathed Genki and put myself into a fighting stance while Ichiro and Akio got into their own stance. We all braced ourselves for battle and waited for someone to make the first move.
