Chapter 198: Hunt For Evilus X
"Taking our findings into account, his group is likely to have at least two but very possibly more Level 7s. We should stick to our current operations and consider that seed lost but put a greater focus on accumulating more strength. I shall report this to Enyo-sama." Zwei spoke.
Revis seemed to agree and Olivas reluctantly did so as well, even though abandoning the seed was not something was even remotely okay with.
While this conversation was taking place, Nox was already convening with his group's members in the 18th floor safehouse which was the meeting spot closest to the incident they were meant to discuss.
Riveria had taken the liberty of bringing the Loki familia members present there as well since Finn was not letting up.
Being one of the smartest guys around town, he immediately realized Nox and his cohorts which now included Riveria and Tiona who were right next to him during the whole debacle, knew more about the situation and he was not intending on letting that pass.
Actually, he was not able to glean anything from Riveria but Tione gave her sisters a weird look as she had noticed she was onto something and Finn caught onto that.
Being the vice leader, Riveria could make such decisions at her discretion and it was perfectly fine since the 18th floor safehouse was not a location that was unsafe to expose to the top members of the Loki Familia that were not a part of their group.
And, since all of them but Bete and Gareth knew about them at this point, Nox decided to tell them later as well and straight up make the location and pit stop for the high level members of the familia on deeper dungeon dives.
"So now that Nox is here, mind explaining what this is about?" Finn asked with an impatient expression.
"Speaking of which, why did it take you so long to get here Nox? You're usually first." Riveria suspiciously and perceptively pointed out.
"I was sneakily following the chick that whooped Ais' ass." Nox revealed, hisw wording earning him a resentful pout from the sword princess.
He gave her a taunting grin in return.
"Were you watching the fight?" She asked.
"I was. In fact, I was following your opponent around since before she even went after you Lefiya and Lulune." Nox revealed.
"By the way Ais. I noticed you did not recognize her." He then pointed out, earning a confused expression and cute head tilt from the sword princess.
"Ein over there has already briefed everyone on her former associates no? That was Revis." Nox pointed out. As there were outsiders present, Filivis was wearing a mask and going by Ein, her former codename.
"Oh." Ais had an airheaded realization.
"So it was indeed her." Riveria said.
"Mind explaining for the less informed?" Finn requested.
"Right. In short . . . There is a group connected to the Demi Spirit creature we faced. Those creatures are created when a special item commonly referred to as a Jewel Fetus or just "seed" parasitizes a monster." Nox started the explanation.
"Depending on the growth stage of the seed and the infected monster, the resulting Demi Spirit's power changes drastically. These Demi Spirits can create special magic stones that are different, we have already seen those from the monsters were fought before the Demi Spirit itself." He continued.
"When one of these stones is implanted in a dead adventurer, there is a chance they will become a "creature" a special adventurer/monster hybrid. Revis, and previously Ein here, were a part of a small group of such creatures under a god who goes by Enyo who has connections to Evilus."
"Following me so far?" Nox asked and then, without waiting for a response, he kept going.
"Revis came to the 18th floor to recover a seed stolen by the murder victim which resulted in her clash with Ais. I followed her to learn more about who they associated with and to recover said seed." He concluded.
Seeing Finn and Tione were overloading, especially the latter, Riveria decided to proceed with the conversation while they caught up.
"Did you get it?" The elfess asked.
"Of course. I've stored it for study and they didn't even catch my shadow." Nox confidently replied.
"If they're smart though, they'll probably figure out who's behind the theft though." Aisha interjected from the side.
"How so?" Haruhime chimed in.
"Ah!" Nox realized it.
"What?" The remaining members asked.
"There is really no one in Orario who could do something like that right under their noses other than me." Nox face palmed as he came to the realization.
Everyone then showed realization on their faces and as they processed the fact that Nox actually made a mistake due to being way to capable, Finn and Tione finally caught up to the conversation after much internal processing.
"Details. I need details." Finn declared.
"Specify." Nox replied.
"These creatures, how do they work, their characteristics also, the Evilus connection, how does it fit. Enemy numbers, comprehensive strength, areas of operation, everything you know." The pallum specified as requested.
"Well, my group has its own agenda so I'm not going to tell you EVERYTHING . . ." Nox started and Finn's expression twisted a bit.
". . . But . . . I can tell you a fair bit. Enough for you to make preparations on your end." He concluded.
"So here's the deal and there is new information mixed in so my members ought to be mindful as well." Nox warned before he got to the meat of the matter. Based on the most recent encounter, he indeed felt that some revisions were necessary.
