Chapter 12: Handsome...
Adam was not expecting Irulan to always follow him but was shocked by suddenly being without her. She was a cute-scary-awesome beast, but he had learned to rely on her with time and felt safe by her side.
Thinking back, he had arrived in this world a couple of days ago. At first, he was sure that he had just discovered a new stage of the game, but now he was not so sure. After all this time, he had not been able to log out or even access a user system.
Adam bent over the short grass and grabbed his head, his eyes glued to the shiny crystal on the ground. If this was a game, it had to be some new technology that allowed the body to be taken care of without the player being conscious about it. More and more, he had to admit that he just did not understand what was going on.
He clenched his jaw and stood up. He was not going to let himself feel self-pity. That was not the character he wanted to embody. This place felt like a video game. He would be the same he was while playing his games. Bold. Strong. Decided. All the things he was not in the real world. It was time to own this world.
Adam grabbed the cristal and walked back into the village. He decided to take as much advantage of the benefits provided by Irulan for as long as he can. Internally, Adam started to list all the things needed to prepare to pass this beginner zone and reach an important town. Surely, once he got there, he could join a guild and solve quests for experience points, like in all games.
"This is not a game" popped in his head.
"Oh shut up" he said. "There is no point in giving up. I might as well treat all of this as a cool new game. That is where I do my best work".
He found Yorki and got him to sit down by one of the fires the tribe has on. A host of smaller tengu was playing nearby a rather intense game of you're-it.
"What do you guys eat? What resources do you need? Is there a source of water nearby? What is the biggest problem the village has right now?" he asked at a rapid-fire pace.
The small humanoid looked back at him with big round eyes.
"Savior what is... resouces?" Yorki asked back.
However, Adam was already not paying attention. After asking, thoughts popped in his mind that he had no way of knowing previously.
"Tengu are known to eat whatever is available. Traces around the mouths of the ones present indicate a mix of small prairie animals and plant-based products are prominent in their diet."
"Tengu do not require too many resources. A stable source of food and shelter will allow them to naturally evolve by absorbing the mana from other creatures they eat."
"No water sources detected nearby."
"Not enough input to answer the query. Please provide context."
