"This place is nice." Tiana praised settling herself on a rock.
I nodded in agreement. "So...how can I help you?"
"I checked around at your previous school and it's shocking that there are some people who liked you despite your disrespectful attitude." Tiana started making me confused about why she brought this up.
"Well" I coughed "I wasn't disrespectful to everyone." Talking like I was actually the one who made such brain dead mistakes is very annoying.
"I thought so. So, even though some people hate you there's a very small population that likes you otherwise you wouldn't have lasted that long in the academy and along with expulsion you would've lost your money."
I spread my hands indicating that I still lost the money while cursing Rowena in my head. 'I really have changed. Rowena really brings out the worse in people.' I agonized.
"Yes such a shame." she commented. I feel like she isn't as indifferent as they describe her to be. It's obvious she taking pleasure in this. "What's interesting is if you had stayed in Illia you wouldn't have been scammed because there were people protecting you. But you left and their personal connections extends only that far."
"Wait. So if I had stayed in Illia I wouldn't have been scammed and would still have money with me." I fantasized seeing money signs in my head. 'Sigh this trash can life really messed with me.'
"Not really." she shook her head "The money would be spent eventually. It depends on how you manage your spending and besides your enemies are over there in high positions you wouldn't be able to get a job because you having lack of conduct would be all over Illia and no one would want to offend and aristocrat for you unless they are rivals and if so you'll probably be used as a chess piece."
"And you're not afraid because?" I raised my brows.
"Believe me it can't get worse."
"I'm not the only one you approached." I stated a fact.
"That's true but you can reject the proposal if you're not interested."
"I need to know why you need my help before deciding." I shrugged.
"I need your ability." she replied and I looked at her through narrowed eyes. She shouldn't know I'm a sensitive so she's talking about something else. What could it be?
I forced a smile. "I don't understand." I said slowly while trying to sense her emotions and the prominent one was curiosity.
"She's always expressionless, I can't associate that emotion with her." Rowena exclaimed.
"Well for someone like that she has quite an active mind." I concurred.
Tiana answered. "Your ability to manage people. Even with your previous character you still had friends that had your back in the academy. That ability, I need it."
"Give me a moment to process this." I said then asked Rowena a question. "In your previous life what was your answer?"
Rowena winced. "I agreed but I didn't think too much about how to help. In my mind I thought since she's the princess her reputation would correct itself over time but I was wrong. When more bad rumours spread I opted to just suppress them alas in the eyes of others she was trying to hide something by doing so. Even I started having doubts."
"Alright, I will do it." I gave Tiana a reply.
"Astonishing...but good."
"You'll have to listen to everything I say." I gave her an heads up.
"As I should." she agreed.
"Everything." I emphasize and paused. "Even though it sounds completely stupid."
"You're going to ask me to do something stupid?" she peered at me.
"Maybe?" I asked.
"Alright we have to try new things. I'm willing to be your test subject."
"...Rowena, do you think...your master was swapped?"
"She's now your master too and yes she's acting weird."
"Well back to the topic should I tell her now?"
She shook her head "Later, wouldn't it be strange if we suddenly found a solution out of nowhere it'll make it look like a joke."
"Ok." I snapped out of my reverie and look towards Tiana who was staring at me. "Is something on my face?"
"You spaced out."
"I was thinking of what I could do to solve the problem."
She nodded slowly. "Quite efficient but we're not done with the conversation."
"What?" I looked at her puzzled.
"You've not said anything about your compensation." She reminded.
"Oh." I've not thought about that. What should I ask for? A house? The probability of it being given to me without me asking is high. I sighed. "What should I do Rowena?"
"You're the one being compensated I'm not going to interfere." She paused. "This is also my compensation to you. Without my urging you wouldn't be doing this, you've helped me a lot. Thank you." She said sincerely and politely.
My face cramped. "Why are you suddenly so polite, it's scary."
Glaring she countered. "Just accept it, why must you comment on everything..."
"That's better, you're back." I commented relieved.
"You...you're so lucky I don't have a physical body unless..." she threatened.
"Unless what?" I gave her a meaningful smile. "You're the one that's lucky."
Shivering she retorted "I...I'm not..." she gritted her teeth and yelled. "I'm not afraid of you."
This is fun. This is the first time I'm having fun in my entire existence.
"You've spaced out again." Tiana cut in and startled me.
"You're going to see me do it...a lot." I said wryly. Tiana nodded scanning me with a penetrating gaze.
"You're not allowed to cut me open."
"That wouldn't happen." She replied and I sighed in relief. "You're still useful to me." She continued and I tensed up again while Rowena blabbered on about my disrespect. Seriously, she shouldn't be the one talking about disrespect. *sigh* I'm regretting this already.
