Chapter 3: Chapter Three: Kaneko Clan
(Kakashi's POV)
I sighed deeply to myself as I looked out of the window of the Jonin's lounge. Today was one of the few days where we didn't have any missions as a team so, I had decided to give everyone the day off. "And then I told him Lee my boy, never give up hope on a brighter future!" The annoying voice that belonged to no other then Might Guy filled the room as He and Asuma walked in. Asuma sighed deeply as he sat next to me, putting a cigarette to his lips as he glanced over at me.
"I'm surprised to see you here Kakashi, no missions today?" He questioned as I shook my head. "No, thankfully not." I leaned my head back against the large green couch I was sitting on. Mayumi had been apart of our team for about a week now, and unfortunately nothing has changed. Breaking down this girls walls seemed to be a harder challenge then I had originally thought.
"What's wrong Kakashi? Something about you seems off..." Guy asked, oddly curious about my mental and physical state. "Is it Mayumi? I heard Lord Hokage assigned her to your team. That has to be difficult." Asuma commented, lighting his cigarette as he spoke. "Mayumi?" Guy looked extremely confused as I nodded. "Mayumi Kaneko is my problem. I'm trying to train her to be a better Jonin, but it's like she doesn't care whatsoever." I sighed deeply, oddly confiding in my fellow Jonin. "Well I mean, she does come from the Kaneko clan." Asuma stated as Guy raised his thick black bushy eyebrow.
"What do you mean?" Guy asked as I looked to Asuma. Right before I spoke Kurenai walked in, closing the door behind herself. "The Kaneko clan is a newer clan in the Hidden Leaf. Only dating back four to five generations ago. They are a clan of hired assassins." Asuma explained as Kurenai nodded, sitting down next to Asuma. "Have you heard of their Kekei Genkai?" Kurenai asked as I nodded in response.
"Ishi Kettei-Sha, Also known as the Decision Maker. It's a rare Kekei Genkai only found in certain members of the Kaneko clan. It gives the user the ability to see different options in certain situations and how they will play out, they see everything in a mere second and it gives them the best chances for success in different situations." I explained as Guy's eyes widened a bit.
"Wow, a Kekei Genkai that powerful? That's an extreme asset for any village to have." Guy stated. "She's an incredibly talented woman, she just doesn't communicate well." I groaned, images of that frustratingly beautiful woman flashed in my mind. "Have you tried getting to know her Kakashi? Not just as a ninja, but as a human being? Maybe she will open up more to you then." Kurenai suggested. If only they knew trying to get to know Mayumi, was like trying to talk to a wall.
"If anyone can do it, you can Kakashi! That's why you're my rival!" Guy exclaimed. I sighed deeply, still feeling lost on what to do. "Just go with your instincts Kakashi, your instincts are normally correct." Asuma stated calmly as he took a drag of his cigarette. Asuma was right, I had no idea why Mayumi made everything difficult but, I've dealt with far more difficult situations before. The door of the Jonin lounge opened, revealing my fellow comrade Iruka.
"There you are, Kakashi." Iruka spoke as he closed the door to the lounge behind him. "Lord Hokage is requesting you in his office." He explained as I raised one of my silver eyebrows. "Oh? What for?" I questioned as I stood up, slowly walking towards Iruka. "I'm not sure, something about a mission he would like your team to handle." Iruka stated as I nodded and headed to the Hokage's office.
After the short five minute walk from the Jonin's lounge to the Hokage's office I gently knocked on the large doors. "Come in." The Hokage's rhaspy voice was heard through the door as I slowly opened it. After closing the door behind me I turned to face the Hokage. "You requested me, Sir." I bowed politely as he smiled. "Ah yes, I have a specific mission I want to assign your squad." He stated as I raised an eyebrow.
"What mission sir?" I questioned as he held out a dark red scroll. I took the scroll in my hands and broke the seal, slowly opening it to reveal our mission details. My eyes widened when I saw the large C on the top of the scroll. "A C rank mission? Sir, I don't know if they are ready for this." I explained as I read the details of the mission. "They are ready Kakashi, it's a simple body guarding mission. The extremely rich daughter of the Sato family needs escorted from here to the Villiage Hidden in the Rain." Lord Hokage stated as I sighed.
"You think my team is ready for this, Sir?" I asked as he nodded. "I do, Kakashi. Have faith in your squad and their abilities as ninja." His simple words caused all of my doubt to disappear. "Okay, we will do it." I stated confidently.
