Chapter 76: CHAPTER 76
Ivan Dreyar, the disgraced son of Makarov Dreyar could be seen looking at the numerous documents in front of him. If any of these documents ever got into the hands of any authorities then it would immediately cripple the guild's ability to earn money. The documents pertain to how the guild gets its income. Ever since Enzo Lockhart had started working with the Magic Council, every dark guild that hasn't been destroyed yet were suffering from money problems. Clients were now wary of making deals with a dark guild due to fear of the retribution of the Magic Council. They didn't want Enzo, the Magic Council's attack dog to come knocking in their doors and sending them to prison.
It was because of these issues that dark guilds started making other methods of making money. Raven Tail was also part of this. Currently Raven Tail is making money by running multiple black market casino games. But Ivan was pissed because he couldn't expand his business in fear of the Magic Council catching wind of it.
"KNOCK! KNOCK!"
Ivan was suddenly removed from worrying about the financial matters of his guild when he heard someone knocking on his door, "Come in".
The person who entered the room is a short, stocky, visibly hunched, and yet quite a well-built man with blond hair, which is kept slicked back, with a widow's peak and prominent sideburns. Oddly enough, his skin color is pale violet. He possesses a massive head, round black eyes, a flat nose, and a distinctive black goatee on his massively bulbous chin, which splits into two points. He seems to always carry a wide smirk on his face, showing his clenched teeth. His torso and head are quite large in comparison to his thinner arms and legs. This person is none other than Nullpudding. One of Ivan's most trusted subordinates.
"What is it? Don't you see I'm busy?", Ivan said with annoyance in his voice.
"Forgive me, master. But our members just reported a person arriving at the guild and I believe that this person would greatly interest you", Nullpudding said.
Don't let Nullpudding politeness fool you. The man hides his true nature in the facade of being a polite man. He is a sly and sneaky man but one thing is certain at least, he is loyal to the guild.
"Not many know the exact location of the guild? Tell me, who is it?", Ivan said with curiosity in his voice.
"Your son, master. Laxus Dreyar is currently in the entrance of the guild", Nullpudding said with a wide smile on his face.
Ivan immediately became interested when he heard the news. He remembers that he told his son where he could be found when he just started but the possibility of his son showing up in front of him was something that he thought would never happen. But as a guild, especially that of a dark guild. Ivan immediately thought that this might be a trap sent up by his father, "Is he being followed?".
"I have already sent out a few scouts to check the area but I believe he went here alone", Nullpudding replied.
"I see", Ivan said. He then stood up from his seat and said, "I might as well have a reunion with my son".
With Nullpudding trailing behind him, Ivan went to the entrance of the guild to meet his one and only son. When he was a young boy, Laxus was weak and before he left the guild, he was able to implant a dragon slayer lacrima inside of him. And it was because of this Lacrima that Laxus was able to become an S-rank mage in Fairy Tail.
"Laxus", Ivan said as he laid eyes at his son.
Laxus remained quiet and just stared at his father. Ivan knew that by just looking at the eyes of his son, Laxus bore him no love. But it doesn't matter. As of right now, his guild was suffering from financial problems and it was because of these problems that he couldn't recruit more powerful members. But maybe the arrival of Laxus could change that. The lacrima that Laxus has in his body would fetch a high price in the black market. In fact, his dragon slayer lacrima could even make the top 3 dark guilds of the continent of Ishgar compete among themselves. The earnings he could make would be astronomical.
"Why are you here, Laxus. Miss your old man?", Ivan said with sarcasm in his voice.
With annoyance written all over his face, Laxus said, "Gramps kick me out".
Hearing the news immediately made Ivan start out laughing, "HAHAHAHAHA. Like father like son I see. HAHAHAHAHA. You definitely have my blood flowing through your veins".
One thing that Laxus didn't like hearing is that he was the same with someone due to the blood that is flowing in his veins. For Laxus, he was his own man, and being compared to someone because of blood relations is an insult to him. Without any warning, Laxus stretch out his hand and delivered a powerful lightning blast towards his father.
"BANG!"
A powerful explosion soon followed. The guards that were assigned to watch Laxus previously were shocked that Laxus just casually attack the master of Raven Tail.
"You have your old man's temper as well, I see", Ivan said.
Laxus was surprised when the voice didn't come from the direction where Ivan was standing previously. It came from behind him. Laxus then turned around and said, "Thought projection magic".
"I'll ask again Laxus and this time, give me an answer. Why are you here?", Ivan said with seriousness in his voice.
"I wish to form an alliance with you", Laxus stated.
With one eyebrow raised, Ivan stated, "Alliance?".
"Yes, I want an alliance. With you and me working together, we can defeat the old man", Laxus stated.
'What a naïve boy', Ivan thought. Ivan knew that the current Fairy Tail is a guild that he can't attack and win. Not even if Laxus is working by his side. The arrival of Enzo Lockhart to Fairy Tail is a boon to the guild and a curse to Raven Tail. Enzo has shown himself to be a powerful wizard, and even if Ivan doesn't like to admit it, he knows that attacking Fairy Tail now would be his downfall. But he also knew that this might be the best time to retrieve the lacrima that Laxus has in his body. Due to him being an excommunicated member of Fairy Tail finding him in the future would be troublesome. So, in order for Laxus to stay in the guild for a while, he needed to act interested. He only wanted enough time to prepare the necessary equipment to remove the lacrima inside of his body.
Ivan also doesn't even believe that Laxus knows what the prize possession of Fairy Tail is. Once he has enough money from selling Laxus' lightning dragon lacrima, he will assemble a powerful team and find Lumen Histoire himself.
"hmmmm….Your offer is interesting but tell me, do you have a plan?", Ivan asked.
"Of course, I have been preparing to take over the guild for a while now", Laxus replied.
Ivan motioned Laxus to entered the guild and said, "Then let us discuss strategy".
Laxus with full confidence in himself didn't even think that Ivan would place him in a trap. He immediately walks inside Raven Tail with the hope of being the Guild Master of Fairy Tail.
