Chapter 17: Training room
The group split in 3 straight lines [carrying 5 people each] and started following 3 other Arena masters out of the training to reach their own place of business and progress. The title is fancy but it just means that they will eventually kill each other.
Throughout the talk from Fin, Aaron had a few seconds to check his surroundings and see what the Arena has to offer. Although there are decorative swords everywhere, the most attractive feature in this structure is the big crowd of people.
Throughout a quick thought, Aaron guesses that many low ranks live here since the opportunity is offered to them once they join the Arena plus who would reject it? A free bed and free food as well accompanied by a promise of gold and fame for those who survive long enough.
Those who manage to climb ranks usually have the gold they need to buy a home and maybe even build a private training room!
However for those who don't have private training rooms can use the Arena to their disposition, there are places to train in its yards or indoors too. However the yards are usually filled with more drama since there are 4 metal net fences separating the big teams of the Arena.
But thankfully regardless of the number of people competing for fame, there still is enough space to fit everyone. This being a wealth yielding public attraction, allowed the King to invest here more.
When this training yard is combined with the space the actual Arena takes, it's about 300 meters wide in a circular measuring way.
So the Arena along with the training yards and other small or big buildings on those training yards take 300 meters of space. They have all the space they need and the Arena grounds are basically a luxury hotel for those who have what it takes to climb the ranks.
After those 3 other groups left, Arena master Fin turned to the 5 Bear bloods in front, moving his head from left to right, observing, taking a few seconds before he yelled out an order. "Alright Bear bloods! Names and powers now!"
Aaron broke the silence first by introducing himself. "Aaron James, Level 1 Earth quaker." The level at least, is something he can recall and the way he shouted shows that one here has watched too many army movies before.
"Aaron, you can't even hold a sword up right?" Asked Fin, stroking his own beardless chin, trying to recall if he remembers it right while a couple of men were giggling about Aaron's lack of skill.
This is the first time that Aaron managed to see Arena master Fin clearly.
This man has a thick black line running through his face, it's clear that he belongs to the Kasteremas race.
Furthermore the Arena master doesn't have hair on his head either but that characteristic doesn't look ridiculous, it befits him come to think of it and the black line running across his face enhances his looks.
Tad teasing perhaps towards a bit of trauma, Fin asks. "How does it feel to see the sunlight again?"
"I feel less depressed." Hearing himself, Aaron instantly realized his mistake.
He used a modern world which here can confuse the masses because they don't really understand what it is. Thankfully it can't cause any trouble apart from getting asked a few questions but Aaron has to be more careful with modern references so he doesn't get labelled as crazy.
Silence stretching a few seconds, a firm look on Aaron's face, Fin demands. "Now I have no idea what this depressed thing is but if it slows you down, get rid of it and replace it with charisma. Are we clear Ground Tapper?"
Glad that this possible problem slipped by, Aaron gladly answers "Yes sir!"
Pointing at another man standing next to Aaron, Fin cites. "Name and power!"
"Tristan Black Bear, level 3 Earth quaker!" Shouted the bigger man near Aaron. Standing 6 foot tall and being as wide as 2 men, it is a surprise how he didn't advance to level 7 yet.
"Level 3 aye? Aaron take some lessons from this fellow, you can at least survive a couple more rounds with his help." Smirked Fin, giving a small laugh, making short eye contact as well.
"Let's get this over quick Ground tappers, we have a lot of training to doo." Right after he points at the other man in line and shouts. "You! Name and power!"
"Inigo Cassinade, level 4 Earth ripper!" Shouted a 5 foot tall man, his tone grabbing attention although his size isn't.
He isn't too physically fit which is weird because pure brute strength is the base of any Bear blood's power but somehow this one seems to be Level 4, breaking stereotypes.
"Perfect., next one!" Hearing the Arena master practically skipping a longer introduction for Inigo, he got rather jealous.
What listening to others introduction pointed out is that he is the most powerful one of the 3 but yet he got the shortest introduction.
That got him emotionally triggered but the man refused to show it and certainly didn't put Aaron, Tristan and especially Fin, on a close friend list.
"Bacada Theras, level 1 Earth ripper." Interesting enough to see another Bear blood being level 1, but this man doesn't even seem like he is 20 years old.
"Our youngest warrior, do you think you can survive in the Arena as a 18 year old?" Queries Fin with a rather deep curiosity and lightness on his tone.
Apparently not so hesitant with his expressions, the young man hoots. "My opponents won't know what hit them!"
"Confident aye? Lets hope that you aren't over confident, the Arena isn't a playground!" Afterwards FIn proceeded to yell for the last one to introduce himself.
The fact that this level 1 Earth ripper got a longer introduction, made Inigo tad more furious but he fears to speak anything about it as his life here started as a slave after all,
Pointing at the one hiding a bit behind Tristan, the Arena master orders. "Last one. Introduce yourself!"
This individual is rather... unique. Mostly because she is the only female to ever step foot on the Arena.
"Auica Hynde, level 2 Earth ripper." Shouted the lady standing 5.9 foot tall.
The reason why a few men lacked concentration throughout this introduction, is because of her. A female in the Arena and no doubt highly attractive.
"Aaaa right Auica, you must be sir Arthur's employee. The gold he threw for you to join the Arena, I hope you don't disappoint." The wordplay tad harassing but it can be worse because after all she is breaking an order that lasted since the Arena was built.
Afterwards Fin turns towards the 4 other men in front of him and shouts a clear order. "As you heard me she is sir Arthur Hare's employee. If you thought of touching her, kill that thought because sir Arthur will have all of our heads cut off if not our penises."
Seeing a couple of men swallow their spit, he added. "She is under his protection, understand?"
