Chapter 12: Chapter 12: The talk.
Melanie wandered around the garden for some time and sat down on the grass, away from the crowd and the loud music.
*SIGH* ' it's so nice to stay away from loud noise and people.' she thought, as she stared at the moon which was faintly visible in the evening sky.
' As if you have people in your life ' her sub-conscious mocked. Mel ignored her as usual and hmphed.
The bonfire party started a few minutes before her arrival, making the place loud and noisy (as per Mel.) The entertainment club had put up a disco, karaoke, a stage to dance on, huge speakers were set beside the stage and the lighting was done to give it a club-kind of feeling.
Melanie was a person who was most talkative in her own comfort zone and with a selective number of people whom she felt comfortable with ( only family and Alex - who was her cousin!! but let's ignore that..). She was quiet and cold to people whom she felt weird or uncomfortable with. She usually relied on her intuition in making friends.
She, herself, was surprised as she got so close with Steph, Hayden, and Lucas. She couldn't get herself to be close to Scarlet and Bryan as they never got along with her, it was like they weren't interested, unlike the others.
Well, the weird geek was an exception, he usually had a stoic face, but her heart skipped every time he smiled. Her heart skipped its beat every time he looked at her, let alone smile.
Thinking about him Mel smiled unconsciously, looking at the moon.
' Does Love-at-first-sight really happen? Only with the eye as a criterion or did I just imagine that his eyes were so ...good?' She could only see his face while thinking of it.
" What are you smiling at?" a gentle voice brought her back to the present, from her thoughts.
" You!" she scoffed, looking at the person behind.
" My name's Brenden, Not YOU!" he corrected sitting down beside her, leaving some space between them.
" Oh, nice. So, where is your fiancé?" she asked.
" Probably with Bryan and the others." he shrugged.
" Aren't you jealous that she is with other guys or, is it because you trust her?"
she asked, her set of awkward questions as usual.
" No, I don't trust her. She has her freedom, practically were not responsible for each other." he frowned as he told that. ' Why am I answering her? ' he asked himself but couldn't find an answer.
" We were engaged for pure business purpose. The best part was that, I didn't even know that I was sold off for months. It's not like it's going to last." he chuckled bitterly.
Mel frowned as she saw his pained expression," Don't worry. Everything will turn to be alright. Just believe in love."
" Love? Do you believe in it?" he asked seriously looking into her brown eyes.
" Not until I met someone, in an unexpected time and situation." She answered, thinking about the first time she met him.' Did I just confess indirectly??' she flushed at that thought.
" Maybe. I understand," he nodded, thinking about how unexpectedly they met. 'Wait... So this is ..... the feeling's weird but nice.' his lips curled upwards. ' wait what feeling? He's the Dark Prince - not a lover boy!! '
" So, would you be with me for this trip?" she blurted out. Realizing what she asked her eyes went wide and she explained hastily," I meant can we be friends?"
'Oh my god can the earth just swallow me up!!' she flushed.
He smiled at her for her silly question and nodded." Silly."
" Hey, whom are you calling silly?" she pouted and glared at him.
" We can be together too." he smiled at her cute flushed face.
" Do you believe in 'forever?" Mel wondered, getting off topic, curiously.
Brenden chuckled at her cute puppy eyes and ruffled her hair.
' Not in my world little sunshine. ' he smiled bitterly.
' Did I ask something which I shouldn't have?' she thought but kept quiet. She really enjoyed her time with him, she had just met him!! That makes things even narrower.
' But they aren't forever are they?'
