Chapter 40: Chapter 39

Robin memorized the locations that Hakai said. "Is that all?"

Hakai nodded. "Yup. There's more, but those are the ones that I know right now."

Robin already knew that there was a poneglyph in Alabasta, but she didn't know there were 2 poneglyphs. She also didn't know that there was a poneglyph in Fish-Man Island, and Skypieia.

"Ok, so what do you want me to do?" Robin asked him.

Hakai laughed. "Nothing really. I know I asked you for help, but I really just wanted you for my crew. I can handle Crocodile myself."

"I don't mind being in your crew as long as you fulfill your promise, but aren't you underestimating Crocodile a bit? He's stronger than you think, and he's one of the Seven Warlords of the Sea," Robin said.

"Don't worry. He can handle himself fine," Makino said as she approached Robin, inspecting her.

Hakai stretched a few times, entering the basement and finding Crocodile sitting down. His footsteps echoed loudly in the large basement, alerting Crocodile of his presence.

"Robin? No... This isn't Robin." Crocodile turned around, seeing Hakai moving towards him. "Who are you?"

Hakai took out his sword from his storage, unsheathing it. "The guy who is going to kill you."

---

"Guys! Look! These pirates are so cool!" a man with a straw hat said as he held up a newspaper. "Wait a minute... He looks familiar."

This man was Luffy, the captain of the Straw Hat Pirates.

"Let me see," Nami said, grabbing the newspaper. Each page had the bounty, and picture of the pirate it represented. As she flipped through the pages, she saw her sister Nojiko, making her fall on the ground. "They said Nojiko joined a pirate crew, but I thought they were lying. It's actually real."

Nami was shocked. Never in her life could she have predicted her sister joining a pirate crew. She just hoped she wasn't being forced. From what the residents from her home-town told her, she wasn't being forced, but she was still a bit worried.

"Wait," Luffy said, grabbing the newspaper from her hands. "I still haven't seen all their members."

Like Nami, Luffy was shocked when he saw Makino with a big bounty in a pirate crew. "Makino?! What is she doing being a pirate?"

Usopp jumped a the name. He still hadn't forgotten the people that took Kaya from him, not that he had her in the first place. "Do you know her, Luffy?"

Luffy nodded. "Yeah, she was from my hometown and owned a bar. She was pretty cool, but now she's cooler for being a pirate."

Usopp stood behind Luffy, watching Luffy flip through the bounties until it showed Kaya's bounty. He smiled, seeing Kaya but then just about died when he saw her bounty. "What the, why is her bounty so high? At this rate, she'll become a great warrior of the sea before me."

Zoro came over too to see what the fuss was about and saw Hakai's name. This reminded him of what Mihawk told him. "He's strong, huh. Guess I'll have to train more."

Sanji also came over. He didn't care about Hakai, and only wanted to see the girls. "Damn, how does he have so many women for himself."

---

"Are you now? A lot of people have told me that, but it hasn't happened yet," Crocodile said, as he took out a new cigar.

"Well, I might not actually kill you. It depends on if I should hand you in alive, or dead." Hakai began emitting an intense amount of killing intent as he swung his sword, coating it with haki, and sending a wave of compressed air towards Crocodile.

"Haki?!" Crocodile dodged the attack as he swung his arm down, sending a wave of fast sand towards Hakai. "Desert Spada."

"I have to admit. I didn't expect someone in Paradise to know haki, so you surprised me there." Crocodile knew it was rare for people to know haki in the first half of the Grand Line, but it wasn't unheard of. It also seemed that he would have to take this seriously since haki was the counter to logia's intangibility.

Hakai dodged the sand attack, but Crocodile wasn't going to let up. He swung his arm forward, sending out a trail of sand behind it. "Barjan."

This was a deadly attack as anything hit by the trail of sand would be instantly robbed of all moisture, but nonetheless, Hakai dodged that too.

"Is this all?" Hakai asked.

Crocodile's eyebrows twitched at the question as he sent out another wave of sand. "The fight has only started!"

"In my eyes, I've already won." Hakai used his superior speed to dodge the sand attacks, ducking down, moving to the left, or right, and dodging the attacks. As he did this, he slowly but surely got closer to Crocodile until he was what he called his 100% range.

The 100% range was what Hakai called for his range that he could hit 100% of his attacks. Meaning that his opponent would have to either block or take the attack directly which isn't very smart.

Hakai swung his sword down, coating it with haki as he used the special ability of his sword. The attack hit directly on Crocodile's chest, leaving a big mark that was leaking blood.

The sword began releasing a black aura as it absorbed all the light in the area and spread darkness everywhere, making the room pitch black. Along with getting rid of vision, the room also dampened people's senses, except the owner who was holding the sword.
