Chapter 1: Chapter 1 We're Doing This Again?
I'm dead.
I'm positive I'm dead.
I felt myself crashing into the roaring waves and my bones cracking from the impact. Sure, it was only a split second of mind-numbing pain but I know this body. The body that can barely take a common cold enough to realize that there was no way I could've survived the fall.
So why am I not dead?
Su Qingtang wanted to curse. So I committed suicide for nothing? Nothing at all? What the hell is this? Damn is this some type of joke? Well it's not very funny.
She hopped off her bed and headed to the bathroom only to see a seventeen-year-old face. Her bright eyes shining with innocence and curiosity with red lips and an oval face. This was absurd! She wanted to cry even more.
Rebirth?
The heavens couldn't have been so cruel as to have rebirthed me again could they? Damn cant someone die in peace?
"System! Get yourself out here! Don't pretend to be dead!"
The system rubbed its nonexistent forehead as it tried to explain what happened. "Sigh. There was an error in this world. There must have been some plot malfunction or maybe a character rebirthed and as the only character with awareness you were pulled back in time with them. I'll investigate and get you the answer by the latest tomorrow."
The system technically didn't have a body but as a part of her conscious she could instinctively feel its emotions and gestures. The system was particularly fond of having a body so projected itself as a handsome young man. But underneath it all it was nothing but a pile of scrap. Trash!
"Let me get my knife! Which evil goblin stopped this old lady from achieving my mission? My poor babies will be so lonely without me. Sob Sob "
The system sighed. Why did I, the amazing and powerful system, get such a host? "Host, your wealth is not a living person they won't feel pain without you being there with them!" They're not even alive!
"Scram! You're just a pile of scrap! How can you understand my feelings or heartache?!"
The system retreated with a mouthful of old blood.
Su Qingtang was mad. She wanted to vent her feelings.
"Qing-er?" A middle-aged woman peaked in. A warm smile on her beautifully matured face. "I heard talking in here. Are you okay, love?"
The kind voice made all of Su Qingtang's piled up grievances overflow at once. She rushed into the woman's arms and cried. While the system almost had a heart attack!
"Host! What are you doing?! Your supposed to hate your stepmother! Stop OOCing!" {out of character}
Su Qingtang ignored the system as she hugged the woman closer burying her face in her neck. "I don't care! Screw character settings I want to live free! I'm done helping that stone-faced block of wood find happiness! Sob sob sob."
Jiang Shu held her daughter as she sobbed with a dumbstruck expression. Didn't this girl always avoid me? What changed today?
Jiang Shu didn't understand. Of course, she would never have understood the original Su Qingtang's thoughts. The original Su Qingtang had probably read too much dog blood online novels which helped her develop a massive brain hole in which all stepmom's hate their poor stepdaughters and want their heart on stakes. She never did understand that her stepmother genuinely loved her and would do anything to keep her safe. Even when the original Su Qingtang died she never realized that the most heartbroken person over her death was the woman she despised. When the new Su Qingtang transmigrated over with the help of the system she was forced to follow the character settings left by the original no matter how much she hated it. She had to pretend to hate her stepmom. But no more! Su Qingtang officially did not care!
"Mom! I don't want to be engaged with that cheating bastard Lu anymore! I saw him cheating on me with his assistant! Let me stay home with you and dad!" Su Qingtang wailed into her mom's arms.
Jiang Shu's pleasant expression changed as she wore a terrifying expression. The gentle lady was gone and in her departure was an angry Jiang Shu. "That spawn of the Lu family did what?"
The 'crying' Su Qingtang peeked from between her fingers and watched as her stepmom walked out the room and downstairs where she picked up her phone and angrily punched in a number. Silently she closed the door before changing her expression back to one of a cheerful girl's if you ignore the wet tear streaks running down her face.
The system was already used to the host's two facedness and didn't even blink as it watched her. The system was very prided in its adaptability. "I received the report."
Su Qingtang's eyes brightened even further. She flopped unto her bed before she asked. "So, what happened? Who rebirthed?"
The system glanced disdainfully at its host before proudly announcing. "It wasn't an error of someone rebirthing it was simply the host who did not complete the mission of making the male lead happy!"
Su Qingtang was stunned. She sat up before she angrily retorted. "Damn, how is this my fault? I Played the role of a perfect cannon fodder. Getting on the female leads bad side and then get retaliated against and forced to death by the female lead all while conveniently making way for the male lead and female lead to be together and strengthen their relationship! Damn what kind of male lead is this? The female lead actually couldn't satisfy him?! Scram!"
The system rolled its eyes at its foolish host. If it wasn't for its restrictions from telling the host how to complete the mission it would've told the host what exactly went wrong to make her realize how stupid she was for disregarding it. How big exactly was her brain hole for discarding such a handsome and powerful system? Humph!
