Chapter 25: Chapter 25: land of the waves (part 2)
The next morning was when team 7 got back to consciousness. Well, Naruto woke up a couple of times, but Anko just knocked him out again. Was yelling too much for her taste.
Amazed that they were not dead, they got downstairs. There they saw the family eating their breakfast. Kakashi was still at the side but was being looked after by someone new. When they looked a little better, they recognized the new arrival.
"Raven!!!" the three yelled.
Raven turned around, just waved at them but continued checking on Kakashi.
Naruto being Naruto, "Hé! a wave that's all you got. When we haven't seen you since ..." DOING!!! "Would you stop with the yelling!!! It's morning. And since when is a shinobi so loud. You're lucky I could sleep peacefully last night or I would feed you to my pets." Anko answered. Raven just sighed, he new Anko wasn't really a morning person. Even the learned the wrong way. He just got the shivers remembering.
"Ah!!! the crazy lady from yesterday..." But that was the last he was yelling this morning because the patience from Anko was over. She kicked him into a wall. Naruto has been knocked out again. Tazuna was looking at Anko wanting to say something.
"Ah, silence. What are you looking at old man? Have something to say. Because I still haven't heard the reason why this is a C-rank mission when there have already been three shinobi attackers after you. This is a B or higher rank mission. So can it with your complaints. Oh don't look at me like that, I heard it last night."
Tazuna was speechless because he figured that the female shinobi wasn't as tolerant of his complaints as the white-haired one. So he just continued eating his breakfast, so he could go to work. He hopes that today, nobody quits. Raven was done with his treatment for Kakashi. He told his findings to Anko.
"He will be out for two more weeks. I've healed him as much I can. I'm not that great with medical Jutsu if only Yukino was here. She would have him up in a few days, I think."
"Don't think too much about it. You did as much as you could. You can go to sleep now, you were up all night."
"Thanks, Sensei, but I'll first check my traps and perimeter alarms."
"Ah, good. Oh, take one of those bastards with you. So they know where the traps are."
"Ok, Sensei," he turns to Sakura and Sasuke, "Who is responsible for surveillance in your group? I hope it's not Naruto."
They looked at Raven like they have no clue what he's talking about. since they didn't answer, he turned to Kakashi.
"Hé, Kakashi. Who is responsible for surveillance and guard duty in this team?"
Kakashi looks ashamed to say it, "Nobody."
"What you mean nobody? ... Wait, you telling me that in this team there is nobody that sets up a secure perimeter, set traps for defends or even a guard role?"
"No, ..."
"ARE YOU KIDDING ME!" he dodged a frying pan, "Sorry, Sensei. What the hell," he turned to Sakura, "You pink head, come with me." And Raven walked outside.
Sakura was mad at the nickname from Raven but didn't yell at him. She remembered what happened to Naruto. She turned to Kakashi for help. "Sakura, follow Raven. He'll explain."
"Ok, sensei." She went outside to see what Raven was going to tell her.
"Hé, Uchiha brat," Anko called at Sasuke.
He looked at her, "Yes?"
"Wake your teammate up, so he can eat. But keep him quiet."
"Why would I?" he was going to finish his breakfast. Wrong decision. Anko lifted Naruto up from the ground and threw him at the Uchiha. He got hit by Naruto right in the face.
"YOU THINK YOU CAN BE LIKE AN ARROGANT IDIOT AGAINST ME. You going to run five laps around the house right now. And don't think of asking for assistance from cyclops. he will not help you. Even if he would, he is bedridden for two weeks. And I'm healthy. guess who will win. SO GET A MOVE ON!!"
Naruto woke up from being thrown, he was going to say something. But he heard Anko yelling at Sasuke. So both scarred of the lady, they ran out the door. But not long after they were outside. The inhabitance heard yelling from outside.
"YOU STUPID IDIOTS! WHAT THE HELL DID YOU DO! HAVE YOU GOT ANY IDEA HOW LONG IT TOOK ME TO SET THIS UP. SCREW THIS, DEAL WITH THIS YOUR SELFS. DON'T YOU DARE WAKE ME UP TO HEAL YOU IF YOU GET POISONED!!!"
And a pissed-off Raven came inside, "you can't read a clock Sensei, WHAT THE HELL DID YOU TEACH DOES IDIOTS?" Not waiting for an answer, Raven went upstairs to get a well-diserved rest. Anko was so proud of her student right at that moment.
Outside Naruto and Sasuke didn't dare move, because they heard the last words from Raven. Poison. Sakura explained that around the house, there were not only simple traps but also deadly traps with poison. Raven was telling her about the normal traps because those could stay. In the meantime, Raven was removing the deadly traps. For safety reasons, for the family that lived there. But not only didn't Naruto and Sasuke run inside the trap he was disarming. Oh no, they also broke the alarm perimeter that Raven set-up, last night. Sakura saw how lucky Raven was because if he didn't take the poison out first from the trap, he would have been drowning in poison right now. She let the two out of the trap, but they walked back to the house because they didn't know if they're more traps with poison.
"So the idiots return. Did you run the laps yet?"
Sakura didn't know what the kunoichi was talking about, but the two next to her did. Just when they would explain.
"What? You didn't? Then get to it?"
But Naruto answered," But we don't know if they're more traps out there?"
"Oh, that was the problem. Pink head, how many traps did Raven disarm?"
"four, miss"
"Then your correct, there are still traps out there. about sixteen more I think."
The three genins gasped.
"Too bad that you pissed off the one that was going to disarm them. And that doesn't excuse you so go running."
"But, ..."
"What still not running? Fine, I'll give you a hint. stay out the alarm perimeter."
She turned to Kakashi, " The rest is for you. I'm getting back to sleep because some idiot kept me from sleeping." Anko went upstairs.
Luckily Tazuna had to work, so Kakashi guides him and his team outside. Raven healed him enough he could walk with crutches. He showed his genin the traps, as well the deadly ones. the two boys didn't need to run. He gave them the job of guarding Tazuna for the day. The team had no interest in training that morning.
...
In the afternoon, Raven woke up. He was still pissed at Naruto and Sasuke. He went to the other room to wake up Anko. After a struggle, they came downstairs. Seeing that the place was deserted, they thought that team 7 was on guard duty. "Well, they still do their mission, so what are we doing today?"
"Well, I'm disarming my traps and redoing my alarms. But Anko, what the hell is this team?"
Anko smiles, "Well, little child. Every Sensei trains their student their own way. Some are good at it, but some are just bad at it. Just didn't expect this from a team being led by Kakashi."
"Maybe they are trained in different ways. I'll start my work. HARHG, this going to take awhile. But Sensei, if they break it again. Mark my words, I'm feeding them to your pets."
"BHAHAHAHa, ok that's a deal." And Raven starts with disarming the traps. Anko checks the surroundings,' let's see what's going on in the neighborhood'. "Raven, you guard the house ok?" "Yes, sensei!" And Anko left.
...
In the afternoon, Raven was waiting on the roof while overlooking the alarm perimeter. He was waiting for team 7 or the inhabitants of the house, they were staying in. He guided the daughter from the old man back to her house. He then helped with making diner, as gratitude for letting them in the house. Team 7 and the old man came later that day. Naruto was looking around in the house.
"The crazy lady, Isn't there?"
"It seems like it."
They saw Raven in the kitchen, calmly talking to the women of the house. They were still feeling guilty. So they went to apologize for what they did in the morning. Raven accepted but still warned them what would happen if they broke it again. Gasping, Naruto still had to ask, "What are your Sensei's pets she keeps mentioning?"
"Oh, you didn't ask cyclops? Sensei's pets are her summoned snakes, I think the biggest is as big as a building. Don't actually know, hadn't seen the bigger ones yet."
Team 7 gulped at the same time and one thought past their minds, 'DON'T PISS-OFF RAVEN OR HIS SENSEI, OR WHERE SNAKE FOOD' But after they had some small talk.
Anko didn't return for the night, but that was no surprise for Raven or Kakashi. Team 7 was actually pleased that she wasn't there. they also met the kid that lives in the house. Inari was his name. But he didn't talk to anyone in the house. Raven then asked as they were going to bed," Who is on guard duty?"
"guard duty, why?"
Raven can't believe they even asked," YOU do know that their shinobi's after the old man right. So we need to keep our guards up. But it's like you think this is a vacation?"
"HE! let me ..." But Kakashi interrupted, " No, Raven's right Naruto. So the first guard is Sasuke, then Naruto and last Sakura. you all remember the alarms. And if somethings up, ring the alarm." "YES, Sensei." But Naruto had to ask, "Why isn't Raven on duty?"
"Really, Naruto. Do I need to hit you, really? First, I'm not in team 7 last I checked. second I already spend my day redoing the whole perimeter, that the two of you broke. And last, who do you think stayed on guard yesterday night?"
Raven did expect an answer, he just made his way to bed.
"Just leave it Naruto, he's right. Sasuke to the roof, the rest to bed."

thelastgrim I always found that they didn't take this mission seriously. Because when on the mission, they were attacked by two chunin shinobi at the start. Then they were attacked by Zabuza, a missing-nin. They didn't kill him and even thought that he was still alive together with a hunter-nin. And the biggest thing is that the strongest, their teacher was wounded. That means the whole mission of guarding Tazuna completely relayed on 3 genin shinobi, who have even never killed a person yet. So their relaxed attitude in this mission was strange to me. Well, that's plot armor I guess. Well till next time.
