Chapter 2: CHAPTER 2: A DAY IN MY LIFE

"Hi," I greet the ever so lovely Marsha, with her long wavy auburn hair and her soft hazel eyes, who is sitting on the bleachers. "When are you going back home?" I ask once I settle beside her.

"Next week," She says. Her voice is soft and calming. One of my favorite sounds in the world. "But only for a few days. I have to help with the competition," tells me and I nod. "Don't forget tomorrow morning to come to the basketball hall with me to talk about the calendar." She reminds me.

"Meet you there at nine," I say to her, "I remember, Sha." I snort at her jokingly.

"That's only because I've told you like a gazillion times." She sighs.

"Not my fault that I'm a busy guy." I grin.

"It in fact is." Marsha says matter-of-factly. Yeah, well...

"I won't be late Sha. I'll be here by six tomorrow anyway." I shrug.

"Doing what?" Marsha asks.

"Band practice for the competition." I tell her.

"That early?" she asks, frowning.

"Well, I also want to borrow the Dojo for a bit." I stretch my body. "Haven't practiced in so long I can feel my muscles turning into big, slimy disgusting fat. Ken agreed to spar with me. But he's only available that early, or very late at night." I shrug again.

Marsha, being a worrywart that she is, starts frowning even deeper. It's only a matter of seconds before she starts to...

"You already have so many things to do, you'll exhaust yourself."

... Scold me, I finish my thought.

She says it so sternly it makes me flinch on my seat. I hate it when she's scolding me. She's scarier than any mother I've encountered. Even my own. Though thankfully, Marsha never hit me.

"I'll be fine, Sha." I give her my most charming smile (according to me) but she keeps frowning. Her soft jaw clenches. She starts to open her mouth but I leap as soon as I see Chuck hopping towards us, already showered and changed into a navy blue t-shirt and a dark jeans. "That's Chuck. Let's go!" I say and run towards my other best friend, leaving my other to shake her head tiredly.

I feel kinda bad treating her like that. But she worries too much when there's nothing to worry about at all. I turn around and smile apologetically to her as she approaches me and Chuck. She sighs but waves her hand anyway, telling me that she'll let the subject go and just go and have our dinner.

We end up having dinner with a bunch of other guys from the football team. I know all of them because most of them had given me a job before, and others because Chuck introduced us when he joined the team and then made vice captain.

We eat at a small barbeque place in front of the girls' dorm complex because we have to take Marsha home afterwards and also because it's cheap but the food is amazing, and for the other boys, because it's so close to the entrance of the girls' dorm, they'd be able to check some of them out while having their meal (well, okay, that's also one of my reasons to eat here heh heh heh). I chuckle to myself while watching girls passing by one after another.

But aside from me and Chuck, the other boys are more taken by Marsha. Though they've also known her for a while now, they are still very much mesmerized by her beauty. Understandable, though, Marsha is, by far, the prettiest girl in campus (I'm not saying it because she's my best friend, I'm saying it because it's a fact) I grin at my best friend as she listens to the boys trying to get her attention by throwing jokes at one another. It'll be very fun, if not kind of pathetic. Marsha's in a serious relationship going on six years. I chuckle to myself and turn to Chuck.

Chuck, meanwhile, is busy replacing my cauliflower with his squid. I groan and smack his head.

"I told you I don't hate cauliflower." I say to him but he keeps doing it. So I kick his shin. He holds on to my shoulder as he groans loudly and bends down, massaging his shin.

Did I kick him too hard?

"Sorry." I apologize to him, feeling bad. He flicks my forehead after he straightens his back again.

"Yo! You're trained in martial arts! Don't kick!" he grumbles. I know he's not really mad at me. I chuckle and pet his buzz-cut head and he starts eating his food instead of messing with mine.

We finish dinner soon afterwards and drop Marsha off at her door. It's almost nine. "If we want to make it to the art supply store, we have to hurry." I tell Chuck who immediately throws his hand over my shoulders and drag me with him as he runs to the intersection to get a cab. I start pouting at him once we are in the cab, panting.

"I know you're like, a few centimeter taller than me, but stop resting your hand on my shoulder! Or my head! It makes me feel smaller than I already am." I scold him and he just chuckles and mess with my hair.

The nerve of this guy!

I 'tsk' and elbow his side, resulting in him coughing and groaning while clutching the side of his body. I smile with lots of satisfaction.

"What did you do that for?" he groans.

"Serves you right." I stick my tongue at him and he immediately put me in a headlock.

We spend the rest of the trip wrestling in the backseat of the cab (please forgive us, dear kind driver, who said nothing during our immature wrestling competition and just snorts. And forgive us for keep kicking the back of your seat and made the whole ride uncomfortable. Please blame Chuck. He's the jerk). I mentally apologize to the driver after we get off and walk to the store and enter.

Chuck is trailing behind me without a word and let me do my shopping. He knows this is one of the places I like the most so he leaves me to my own world while he just follows me in a reachable distance.

I didn't take too long in the store (mostly because the store's already about to close). After I'm finished with my shopping, we then head to grab some dessert. I want to eat some cream puffs and Chuck takes me to my favorite store (that fortunately still open even though it's already past ten). He buys some for me. Not that I don't have any money. It's just that my family is not as well of as Chuck or Marsha's (they're filthy rich, by the way). Also I only have my grandparents and three younger siblings, so I have to be extra mindful of what I spend. But thank heaven that I have Chuck and Marsha who, God knows why, likes to pamper me so much and dote on me like I'm their love child. And with me being shameless, I let them. I'm cheap, remember? He heh heh.

We chat and eat the warm and moist puffs as we head home. Chuck, as usual, is walking me back to my dorm room. I live in the F building, 12th floor, while Chuck live in the A building, the one by the gate. He always insists on sending me home whenever we happen to walk home together. He even insists of dropping me off at my door. Over-protective much?

We arrive at my door and he kisses my cheek, as usual, while I roll my eyes, as usual, before closing the door behind me. I take a quick shower afterwards and head straight to bed. I have so much stuff to do tomorrow and I've been running around so much today, so as usual, I am gone once my head hits the pillow.
