Chapter 2: Chapter 2: The Voice Of Silence

I was really quiet when I was young, I hate the idea of interacting and speaking to others; maybe because I'm aware that I don't have a voice—or, I must say I don't have the COURAGE to speak. Time passed and I entered highschool, I met few friends and I started to like the idea of talking and leaning on others.

I got used to talking and leaning on someone, and I forgot to keep in my mind that everything is not permanent. I was drowned in temporary happiness from temporary people and forgot about the reality. Highschool ended and all of my friends took a different path without giving a proper goodbye to me, It felt like I was the only one who took our friendship seriously.

"Are you still doubting me?"

For a moment, I forgot the fact that Lee Nathaniel is sitting in front of me and treating his own wound. I'm still in shock for meeting a man in Balay Victorina, I still don't know how he ended up coming here.

"How did you get in here?" I asked, trying to sound less doubtful.

"The old ladies———"

"No!" I cut him from speaking. "What happened to you!" Said I, pointing to his situation; "How did you get into an accident and how did you end up here!" I think I'm no longer asking him, I sound like I'm accusing him for something I can't even tell.

"Wait, Miss!" Said he, looking pissed from my tone; "I'm gonna pay you!"

"I'm not asking for you're money!" I retorted, finding him ungrateful "I'm helping you! Is it bad to ask a few you questions?"

"You're helping but your'e doubting."

"You can't blame me!" I barked, "Is it hard to answer few questions?" I added, leaving him blank.

"Sorry." Said he, out of the blue.

After hearing the word sorry from him, my heart stopped for a second. I feel like I shoundn't have said what I've said. Did I say something wrong? Why did he apologized suddenly? It feels like I also have to apologize!

"Why?" I can't help myself not ask why did he apologized.

"It's just really hard for me to trust other people. I feel like everything I say can be used against me," said he, with a gloomy sigh.

"Who are you to worry like that?" I laughed, not taking him seriously; "As if you're a celebrity to worry about everything you will say."

"Yea." He laughed. The mood changed quickly.

"I'm sorry for doubting you," I apologized for what I've done wrong; "Like what you've said? It's just really hard to trust other people."

He nodded to show he's agreeing.

"If you want someone to trust you, you should trust them too," said I to him. "People can sense people who don't trust them. And I know you also know that, that's why you asked me if I'm still doubting you, right?"

He gave a nod of agreement.

"If you want me to stop doubting you, you should start trusting me," said I, sounding like I'm begging; "You can't ask someone you don't trust for a help. You should them first," I added.

When my highschool friends and I parted ways in college, I had a difficult time to make new friends because I know the friendship I'll have will also end after graduation. Good thing the path I took requires a lot of confidence and more of persuading people; I learned how to give assurance and to trust.

As an entrepreneur I have to be trustworthy, and I have to trust my inverstors for my new proposal. It's so easy for me to make people spill their concerns about my product; entrepreneurship industry doesn't have much difference from making friends, you need to tell them everything —including the problem— to hear their concerns.

"Since you don't know me and seems like we won't see each other again when I leave…" Lee Nathaniel started, "I'm gonna tell you everything."

"Okay." I whispered.

"I took a break at work and started to climb a mountain. I heard mountain climbing was the best way to cope up with everything," said he; "then I met a group of paragliders, they told me that paragliding is the best way to escape everything. And in my third time, I lost my control and fell in the river————"

"But there's no river here?" I said.

"Yea, that's why I had to walk really far with my sprained ankle before seeing this village," said he, giving sense to everything.

"Okay!" I cheerfully said, finally decided. "I'm gonna lend you clothes, feed you, let you use the bathroom, and my cellphone— but in one condition!"

"You always give condition," he chuckled.

I glared at him.

"Okay!" He added, trying to be serious but laughing inside.

"Tell me why you had to take a break from work," I bossed.

"But why?" He gave the expected reaction, from my demanding question.

"Because I have to know!" Said I, sternly, "I need to know if you're a suicidal or someth———" He stopped me from speaking through bursting into laughter.

"Don't worry!" He can't stop laughing, "I'm not a suicidal… I'm just simply suffocated at work and I need space," said he, laughing with sadness in his eyes.

"Okay!" Said I, sassily ignoring the sadness I noticed while he's laughing.

"How 'bout you?" He asked, putting his voice in a serious tone.

"Same as your reason," I simply said.

"You're also suffocated at work???"

"No…" Said I, hastily; "I just need space."

He laughed on my answer. "But when you want space, does it mean you feel suffocated, right?"

"I don't know?" I gave him a shrug.

"I guess the space we want is the same!" Said he, laughing like being suffocated is not a big deal.
