Chapter 17: Schemes

"We have about 10 people in three different cells. It's hard for us to consider anything since we are so far away from each other. The only time we are together is here. I can quickly summon the rest of us." One of the Lycans said. I didn't know which since they looked almost the same.

"No need now. Let's talk about what you have prepared. And maybe we can try to form some kind of communication." Added Matthew while looking around to see if anyone is trying to come.

"So, we know how the guards walk around the first level and something about the second from our visionist. We also got in touch with the cell under us and they are willing to help if we will explain all of it. If you four will also be with us there will be 18 people. That's already a nice number, but you all know that it's not enough and… We will need the help of the mages from the lowest levels. We won't be able to do it without them." He was interrupted by Matthew.

"But how are we going to contact people so far down? They are at least 300 meters down in the ground."

"That's the thing. We need to convince people under us so that they will ask lower and lower until we reach them. It will take some time to get in touch with people of those under us. The problem is that people from floor 19 can't use their powers… We would need to find a projector or visionary on a really high level. He needs to reach at least 80 meters down."

"That's a good idea, but have you thought about someone committing treason?" Asked Estel with concern.

"Well. We don't care about that actually. It doesn't matter. If it works we live, if it doesn't we die anyway. So why shouldn't we try?" Exactly. That's exactly what I would say. "Back to the plan. Also since we can use dark on the higher floors. I thought if we could try to catch one guard and steal his identity. We would still need someone to go down and unlock the locks of at least one cell on the lowest floors. It would be best to do it at night since most guards would be tired at that point. The people that would steal the identity from a guard would need to be some kind of shapeshifters and be good at voice imitation. Also documents and all… I hope they have it on them if they don't it may become more complicated…"

"What then?" Matthew put everything into consideration when it comes to that plan failing.

"Improvisation." The other Lycan answered before the other. I think Lupo is the one explaining the stuff. Now I can differentiate them.

"Exactly. The one doing it would need to have balls of steel. He would have to improvise everything document related. Maybe it would be also possible to hear something from up there but chances are still slim."

"Marcus, didn't you just do the thing with your eye? Can you use the same thing with your ear? Or both that would be the best." I asked Marcus. I thought it makes perfect sense.

"Well, eye imitating is easy. I've never done that with my ear, but I can try. And as for both… Well, I can also try it, but it's not a guarantee."

"If he was able to do both he could track whose number it is. It would be so perfect. If it will work then maybe… You can even try the mouth! We could communicate both ear and mouth!" Insisted on his ability the Lycan.

"Wo wo, hold your horses. I can try but it's not a guarantee as I said before" Replied Marcus. Then he sat down and tried to do what he was asked about.

"So you guys are really great to help. Btw you are an elf, right? Are you one of the few with stronger dark than normal elves?"

"Well, I am but not as much as those really talented elves."

"What are your main tools?" As the Lycan finished his sentence in Estel's hands appeared the cube and a sword, they were changing into other weapons.

"That's actually amazing. Most people aren't able to use two completely different dark matter manipulations at the same time! Well, you can make lightning in one and fire in the other but to make something so different? That cube is just pure dark and the sword has some elven like steel properties. Don't tell me you can completely change its shape while fighting."

"That's already too much. I can't do it simultaneously and it requires too much focus. I can expand them or I can make a shield out of the cube, but other than that well... No" Estel explained.

"That's a shame… But still, I see that you are powerful. And… Matthew? Right? What do you do?" He seemed even more curious than when he was asking Estel.

"Well, I can imitate almost any metal like substance that I know of and change some properties. Also how much power it consumes depends on the metal and size." Explained Matthew with a small grin that was supposed to resemble pride but looked like a kid showing off.

"That's also really useful. How long could you hold a wall of hmm glass? Like a mirror the size of the whole prison's floor?" Matthew spitted and coughed.

"Excuse me what?" He couldn't believe what he heard.

"How long could you keep a mirror in the size of the whole prison's floor?" He repeated casually. Matthew still couldn't believe it and with big eyes and opened mouth almost to the ground answered.

"Man. Can you stretch a small rubber into the size of a building without breaking it? This is impossible. And that is even little to say. I need an extremely big amount of power to make that and not only that while imagining it also becomes harder for me to keep it in shape. It's like stretching something the size of peanut into a castle? That is what it feels like. Not even joking and exaggerating." Ranted Matthew with a really strong belief of it being impossible.

"Well. If you were able to do that. We could just imitate half of the prison close to the view from upstairs. Then we would knock the two guards down and get two other people to polymorph into them. Two is always better than one. But what if… We had someone who can transmit power from one to the other?" Matthew then stopped. Looked in his way. And Lupo only moved his head. It was a confirmation that they have someone like that.

"But still. Even if I have enough power to sustain it I still need to be really hard focused on it. A single misconception can break the entire illusionary wall. It's still really hard…" Explained Matthew with hesitation.

"When it comes to that… We will really need to rely on you or have a prepared plan B for that inconvenience." He finished that sentence and Matthew was shocked. He sat down on the ground, looked down, and said one sentence to himself. But everyone could hear it. "They want to rely on… 'me'?" He repeated several times. I came close and sat beside him with pain in my back saying it will be alright. It cooled him a little bit, but he was still really shocked that someone wanted to put a plan like that in his hands almost entirely.

"But how long will we need to wait until the operation?" Asked Estel with curiosity in his voice.

"I did it!" A mouth was flying around them with an ear to that. "I really did it!" Shouted Marcus as his mouth and ear floated around the whole place.

"That's amazing Marcus! It will greatly help us." Added Lupo with a loud voice confirming his happiness.

"Now we can somewhat communicate with each other. It's normal for prisoners to throw small pebbles because no one actually thinks it matters much however it's still risky to use it too often." Lambert joined the conversation with a small growl. "To remind of communication of course"

"Now we need to keep ourselves in contact and try to learn as much about the guards as possible. If they have keys or we would need to go for them on our own. Times at which they change and this kind of thing. We need to put all things into consideration." Declared Lupo with much confidence in his voice.

"I hope our plan will work. I really don't want to waste my entire life here." Said Estel at the same time he also sat down on the ground. He looked pretty stressed and tired. He closed his eyes and a deep gasp. He blew off some steam.
