Chapter 2: Chapter 2:

I stepped into the café. It hadn't changed that much from what I remember but then again, I didn't remember it that well.

The good news was that there were two familiar people in there, a lady in a suit sat behind a table beside the transparent glass wall standing next to her was a fairly old man with glasses.

He held a tray pressed on his chest as he talked with the lady. Lissandria and Zakaria, Lis and Zac two of the three people I came to meet.

The latter I was happy and glad to see the former not so much not because I didn't like her but rather my inner self knowing just how much I was about to get lectured. But ignoring that there was one person missing, someone I just needed to see.

A worried looked appeared on my face but I quickly got rid of it when I noticed Zac headed my way. I also walked toward him.

"Hello Alex it been a well."

"Hello Zac, it really has.

"… How have you been, the café and all?"

"As you can see I'm still up on my feet and business is booming."

"That good… How—how is she?"

"We'll talk about that later run now Miss Lissandria is waiting for."

"Huh okay."

"I'll get you some coffee will at it hope you like it."

"Yeah thanks."

He walked past me. I stared at his back as he went behind the counter and through a door.

I turned back to Lis and walked over.

"You're late, young master."

"Geez I know, at least let me take my seat first." I said as I pulled back the chair opposite her.

I sat down and looked at her. We sat there in awkward silence for a few minutes.

"Are we really doing this."

"…"

"Fine I'm sorry I'm late Lissandria."

"That's a start."

"Is your purpose to be overbearing."

"So how was your flight, young master."

"Okay."

"That good. How are you feeling being back?"

"Wait a minute, what's going on?"

"What do you mean?"

"This whole nice person attitude, you were never this… nice'."

"Trying to be the understanding mother persona."

"Is this skin permanent." I jokingly asked.

"You've got it for ten minutes."

"Wow that long."

"So how are you feeling, young master."

"Sett asked me the same thing."

"And your answer?"

"Nervous, lost and insecure."

"It'll get better, we are here for you okay."

"…Thanks."

Zac came with the coffee he promised and left quietly.

"So tell me what sort of mischief have you already engaged in."

"Do you really view me so lowly, you work personal under me you know."

"That's precisely why I can tell you have already done something off book."

"I hired a maid today two actually if you count Anne."

"Her name?"

"Irelia."

"Is she good?" she asked as she took a sip from her cup.

"According to your standards not by a long shot but I heard she is a fast learner."

"She can stay… for now that is."

"That's fair enough."

"I see you still prefer shades over the contacts and your fashion sense still hasn't gotten any better."

I actually forgotten I had my shades on and hood up. I pulled back the hood and took the shades off as I said, "The contacts make 'it' blurry and itchy also you're the last person I'd even want to hear anything about fashion from. Your entire wardrobe is basically just suits."

"Can you even feel with 'it'?" she asked genuinely curious.

"It is connected to my nervous system after all."

"But you know you are going to have to wear the contacts at some places."

"I know but honestly I don't really care if people see that my eyes have different colours."

"You would be standing out too much."

"I have white hair; I think I already fairly stand out."

"Precisely my point."

"So how did the upgrades go." She continued

"Psypris already made some improvements to the system but I still don't have master control yet."

She still can't get pass that code huh, must be eating her up really bad."

"Yes, it is, but she is gonna get it eventually."

"So how has it been reacting to the recent event?"

"The usual, scanning people and places, creating archives determining threats and possible escape plans but otherwise its been quiet."

"Okay then, we are done here. Follow me, young master."

She got up and began walking up to the counter. I followed her. We went through the door I saw Zac go through earlier. It led into the kitchen. If I remember correctly the two other doors in there led to a backroom and outside.

"What are we doing now?" I asked because we went through the one for the back room. But I soon realized what it was.

"You have five minutes." She said leaving me in the room with her, the third person missing.

'Five minutes weren't enough for all I had to say but thank you Lissandria. I would have been lost if not for this.'

Those were the thoughts in my mind as I stared at the girl that stood before me. Her dark black hair that flowed flawlessly down to her waist highlighted her bright vermillion eyes and her fair skin. She wore a sweater with jeans that perfectly brought out her curves. Over the past five years she had grown to be even more beautiful.

"H—hey Alex."

Even her voice had grown even more feminine and soothing. I felt my heart skip a beat just like five years ago but this time I wasn't sure whether it was because of fear or hope.

"…It been a really long time hasn't it?" she said as I blankly stared at her.

"…"

I took my first steps towards her still dazed.

"Hey say something anything, you aren't mute now are—"

I cut her off as I embraced her in my arms; her head rested on my chest since I was a tad taller than her, her arms as well were pushed against my chest. Her warm and fragrance spread to me and I held on tighter. I was afraid if I let go this time, she wouldn't forgive me and I'd lose her forever so I held on.

"I'm sorry."

That was all I could say. I had to apologize for leaving. I couldn't hold back the tears any longer.

"I'm so sorry, Xayah"

"Its fine, it was your fault."

I released my embrace but still kept my arms on her back.

"You are back now that's what matters."

She said as she wiped away the tears and smiled. We stood like that quietly looking into each other's eyes as though no words were needed.

A knock came on the door, probably Lis signalling time was up. She took a step back.

"You should probably get going but before that hand it over." She said stretching out her hand.

"What?" I asked confused.

"Your phone dummy hand it over."

"Erh okay."

I unlocked it and handed it over, after a few seconds of fidgeting with it she handed it back.

"So I wondering if we could go out sometime, just the two of us, to catch up."

"That would be great but I also think we're going to be seeing each other quite a lot soon."

"What do you mean by that?"

"You'll fine out soon, Alex."

"Huh okay then."

We said our goodbyes and I walked out. Lis was waiting leaning against the kitchen wall.

We walked towards the other door that led out when she asked.

"So how did it go."

"Thank you."

That's all I had to say for her to understand. To be honest I was enjoying this caring mother persona of hers I just had to.

"I'm driving."

"No."

"Huh why not?"

"You don't have a driver's license."

"But I used drive back in the day."

"The reasons were different, now you just want a joyride."

"Tch what happened to the caring mother persona."

"Timed out." She said as she got in the front seat of the Ferrari.

Tch.

Just when I thought I could pull one more favor but I guess the old Lissandria is back, I'm feeling sorry for Sett, he totally missed out.

But now wasn't the time, now it was time to get ready for what was going in the next few years.
