Chapter 51: My teacher (5)

"Ya DO know something, aren't ya?"

It was the first question when the rest of the family did something together outside the mansion leaving Dante and Elizebeth resting inside the living room alone. Logan planned to show the magic he'd learned to her brothers while Dante took care of Elizebeth while the parents were drunk in alcohol inside the barroom amongst the ground floor room.

Elizebeth blinked angelically. She curled on the sofa not far from Dante. She wished the guilt would go away, she wished it with all her might. The last thing she wanted to do was to be vulnerable in front of the biggest brother in the family. Dante was different from Demien. He had an acute trauma with sirens because of the reason only she knew. The talk before was her mistake, the otherwise curious eyes of Dante weighed behind her back.

"What do you want to know?" She curled in on herself, this time to not face the man. Dante had a high sensitivity compared to a normal person. He surely smelled the sour smell from her.

"Ya smell sour. Ya do know something, Elizebeth. The big secret that no one knows. Ya smart," he agreed. "Ya lacking in experience, that's what ya." He added, smirking.

She pressed her lips, "what do you know?" She returned the question to the owner. Tried to be haughty yet failed miserably. Facing the experienced opponent, it was hard. He knew how to handle Elizebeth the way he handled Logan.

"I know nothing, I concur."

"Elizebeth doesn't know anything too." She grinned, faint dimples appearing on each side of cheeks, boldly stared at Dante though her ears were red, shy.

Dante emitted a hollow chuckle before he could stop himself, his brows knitting tightly into a frown. Elizebeth was not a normal lady. Her action was extremely calculated down to small detail.

The cute expression, the cute aura, the cute words, it's her strong forte, masking her real self was. He bet no one ever dipped this far as much as he could tell. She had an invisible diamond tall wall circling her. To break the special wall needed a special measure.

"How bout don't lie to me, yeah?" Dante suggested, words mumbled as he straight looked into her eyes without a filter. "I know ya, not Elizebeth that people thought. Ya knight seems to know. Should brother ask them?"

The facade crumbled in an instant. Elizebeth scrunched her face in distaste. "You are not easy to please. Exactly like me." The voice, demeanor, and action abruptly changed.

"Oh," Dante knew the gaze too well. This was the real Elizebeth. The facade was dissipated suspiciously.

"You are persistent. I give you that." She propped her chin, smirking evilly, "means you will be my next partner-in-crime." She moved her hand, dangled at her face level. "You know what happens if I snap this finger?"

"No."

"Want to see?" She baits him. Wiggles her brow.

"What if I say yes?" His heart was weirdly thumping hard. He was an experienced fighter under the sea. He never was afraid of anything let alone with the smaller being. But, he's strangely afraid of Elizebeth. She possessed nothing that threatened him, her aura says otherwise.

PAP!

She snapped her fingers without saying anything. He blinked in shock, while she smirked and became creepier. In the first second, he saw nothing but the heart-thumping heart the next second after as he saw the knight marching towards her before kneeling on one knee on the floor, bowing to her too.

"My Lord, you are calling for this lowly servant?" Derrick answered her in less than a minute.

"See." She showed the result.

"What the!!!" Dante got to his feet in loud gasping.

It was a knight's oath. She had it too. The knight's oath was famous even among other entities. The magical beasts had their own soldiers, they had their own rules different from humans but shared one common rule amongst many. The knight's oath. The person or entity who had received the knight's oath was considerably powerful.

And Elizebeth was the youngest yet. The oath was obtained after the contribution made by the individual to the country or the village. What did she do to get one?

"I know that reaction. When was the first time you received the knight's oath, brother Dante?" She gestured to him to sit down and Derrick to get up. "I'm painfully aware you are noble in both the siren and nymph community. Must have your own army, am I right?"

"I- may be around 12-year-old? I was involved in the war in the siren community."

"Understandable. Big achievement." She agreed.

Dante shut his mouth. The atmosphere was so heavy not because of the knight involved but emitted by Elizebeth. Her smile started to creep him out.

"She has the biggest plan for all of us. The biggest yet." Derrick tips him off.

Dante clenched his shirt. He sensed trouble. In fact, bigger than when Logan pulled his stupid prank.

"You'll have to make a decision, brother," Elizebeth told him, her tone solemn, serious, and annoyed. "You came to me willingly, perhaps dripping with powerful curiosity, but it's all the same. We let you in, you are mine. It sounds wrong to say that you belong to me entirely for now, but that's the best word I can use to describe the situation." She drummed her fingers on the sofa, suddenly looking older than only minutes later.

"I-" He stammered. She was a profound lady. She bore something on her back. Only she knew what.

"In return for My Lord answering your sensitive question, you owe us a debt." Derrick stated bluntly in her stead, "I don't think My Lord expects much from you apart from labor and knowledge. That means it's up to you to decide what kind of life you want to lead soon enough."

"Thank you, sir Derrick. You may go. I beg pardon for my rude behavior calling you so suddenly." She shut her eyes to feel the warm kiss on her forehead.

"No worries, My Lord." He bowed them to either of them and disappeared.

"Who the freak are you?" He stiffed, blinked in terror. He was honestly terrified by what he saw just now. It was his first time to see such an intimidating view. The relationship between Elizebeth and her knight was so intimidating. Elizebeth emitted an aloof aura while Derrick subservient below her.

"Elizebeth Diana Chandler. Your cute sister." She winked, with a love hand sign on her eyes, horizontally.

"No. You are more than that. The genius."

"I know." She shrugged petulantly, winking again.

Dante, the sea warrior that would get killed in a year where the duchess was missing. Got killed by the whale tribe due to an unknown dispute. Started with the rumors, the same rumors where the humans fought with sirens. The troublesome rumors were targeting the sirens which later killed the mixed-blood sirens. The rumors were nasty, enough to isolate the sirens and exterminate them completely, later.

She couldn't find the answer within her own kingdom. The vicious rumors brought tragedy everywhere. The beastmen were also suffering the backlash without them knowing anything.

The internal dispute with the siren might be murkier than the book proclaimed and the mermaid might know something. The conflict between the siren and mermaid against merman was mysterious still.

In the book, the mermaid had no fainted clue of the war between them and merman. It compelled her immediate attention. The battle was the beginning of the downfall.

She had to learn everything to change it.

Once the sirens disappear permanently from the map, the mermaid would be the next victim before the vicious chain attacking every other entity.

The trips would be an unpleasant one without a single rest and she could tell. Well, hope her companions will be world level fighters to shield her weak body.

"It is my way to protect you, brother."

"You have a plan, according to Derrick."

"Yes, the plan that will make me rest until the day I die. Do you know my biggest dream brother?"

"To marry the prince?" He guessed.

She scowled.

"Then?"

"To take off somewhere quiet, living peacefully without any responsibility." She sparkled with the thought alone.

"What a peculiar way of thinking." He snorted.

"I own it." She admitted it.

"What ya want ma to do soon?"

"Soon might be far-fetched but you do have one job to do."

"Which is?"

"Quit your job, focus on getting stronger. I give you exactly 12 years to find your companions and get stronger. You can pull any teacher from any entity. Just make sure you are strong."

"Yes?"

"If possible, I want kitsune and werewolf or element. Either two is fine."

"Kitsune? The slick nine-tailed fox? They are from the eastern continent. Far from us."

"I know." She acknowledged the degree of difficulty.

He gave up trying to pry. "What do ya want to do with them?"

"Traveling. I trust you on the task, brother." She winked.

"Traveling?" He snorted. "Will ya father agree?" He said mockingly.

"I am Elizebeth. I get what I want." She smirked, wiggled her brow up and down.

"Ya evil incarnation." Roared Dante while Elizebeth laughed rascally.
