Chapter 14: I Want Her
"Knox, Zes is in a very critical stage right now," She said.
My heart was beating ever so loudly that I was sure everyone could hear it. I could hear Ryder's painful howls inside my head. I couldn't think straight anymore.
"Wolfsbane has contaminated her blood, Zes would have died long ago if it wasn't for her wolf. If I am not wrong, the wolfsbane has only affected half of her wolf's health, but it has fully affected Zes. To Keep Zes alive her wolf has sacrificed her life. We have a way to save Zes but her wolf is in danger. We can exsanguinate Zes and transfuse your blood. Since you're her mate it might help her and her wolf heal," She added.
"Which way?" I asked hurriedly and slightly relieved that she would get better soon.
"Right this way," She said as she showed me the way.
She took me to the room where Zes lay unconscious. Zes looked pale and lifeless, it scared the life out of me and almost made me as pale as her. The doctor did her job and after she had done everything she told me.
"It's all done! Now we hope for the best" She said while wiping sweat off her brow.
I nodded, She left me alone with Zes. I pulled a chair closer to Zes's hospital bed. She looked less pale than before. I caressed her cheek, I felt slight sparks. Every time mates have skin contact there will always be sparks, like jolts of electricity but the shock feels good. The only moment the sparks disappear between mates is if the mate dies or rejects you.
Ryder was whimpering, howling, and is going on a rampage inside my head because he didn't get any response from Zene. I couldn't help but wonder that the shot, the tranquilizer was meant for me, not her. The rogue Alpha wants Zes, so he wouldn't do this to her. When Zes snatched my phone she switched places with me in the process.
I held Zes's hand and kissed it.
"Wakeup babe" I whispered to her. I watched her still body. My brows knitted in worry and anger. I had to find the culprit of this wrongdoing.
'James get near my house and check if you find any suspicious scent. If you do, then try to follow it. Inform me when you find in any leads,' I mind linked James.
'On it,' He responded.
I kept whispering sweet nothingness to Zes until I fell asleep holding her hand.
I woke up to someone whispering something.
"Cookie, wake up," Someone whispered softly.
The only person who calls me 'Cookie' is my mom. I groaned a little and woke up. I saw my mom standing there with a scary look. My mom is sweet but when she is angry she is scary. I gulped. My mom stood there dressed in a sweater and jeans. Her shoulder length dark brown hair framed her face perfectly and her pretty blue eyes always reminded me of the sea.
My eyes drifted to my dad who was standing in the corner of the room. My dad had light brown hair. I got my mom's eyes and dad's hotness. He is old but he is still fit and looks young, he had hazel eyes and a small noticeable beard which looks good. I'm so lucky to have good looking parents.
I returned my gaze to my mom. She was fuming. I glanced at my dad for help but he shook his head.
"Go eat lunch, it's evening now," She said as she pointed at the door.
"But mom, I'm not hungry and I don't want Zes out of my sight," I reasoned calmly because we must never raise our voice at our mother.
"I will stay with her," She said softly.
I sighed and got up cause I know there is no winning against my mom. I walked out of the room and walked out of the pack hospital. As I walked to my house I spotted the training ground which was near the pack hospital, so if anyone is injured it's easy for them to go treat themselves. Pack hospital was quite far from my house, I kept walking towards my house. I glanced at the pack school, Clubhouse, and Packhouse. The packhouse was the huge building that had a shelter for some pack members, it's really safe. It also has a ballroom on the top floor similar to that of Zes' packs.
I noticed the kids playing around the packhouse in the park. I continued walking to my house. I heard heavy footsteps approaching me. I sighed as I already knew who it was.
"Reece, I would smack your pretty ugly face if you hug me," I told him. I didn't turn around.
"Aww mahn, come on," Reece pouted as he stood in front of me.
Reece is my Gamma, that is, third in command. He came forward and tried to kiss my cheek I shoved him away.
"I have a mate man, and even if I don't have you cant kiss me," I told him, He laughed and then looked at me in shock.
"Who is your mate? " He asked shocked.
"Her name is Zes, future Alpha of Silvermoon pack and she is the Queen," I told him.
"Really bro! Congrats. But how come I didn't know about that...?" He asked with a confused expression.
"Well, you were busy sucking some random guy's head when I was telling you people," I told him annoyed.
"So, how was pack these 5 days?" He asked completely ignoring my statement.
"Wait, what? don't tell me you went outside again!?" I asked him angrily.
He smiled sheepishly.
"You're the future Gamma of the pack, act like it. If I find you being irresponsible again, the future Gamma will be Charlotte." I told him sternly and walked away.
At the corner of my eyes, I saw his jaw clenched and his hand folded into a fist.
Charlotte is his twin sister. She is also part of my little gang of best friends. They both have equal rights to become the Gamma, I have to choose between them when I become the Alpha. Charlotte is fine with her brother becoming the Gamma but he is not responsible enough. So, I try to make him responsible by telling him that Charollete will be the Gamma. It's not my idea it's Charlotte's.
Charlotte has hazel eyes which she got from her dad and light brown hair from her mother, while Reece has brown eyes from his mom and dark brown hair from his dad. Charlotte's height is similar to Zes'. Reece is a bit shorter than me, like a millimeter.
I reached my house, finally. As soon as I closed the front door. I heard footsteps coming from upstairs. Soon, Khloe and Charlotte were standing in front of me. They greeted me with a huge smile and a hug. I hugged them back and placed a kiss on both their foreheads making both of them giggle. I smiled a little. They are still my little baby sisters.
"You got a mate doesn't mean you should forget your sisters," Khloe pouted.
"Agreed!" Charlotte beamed.
"Hmmm..." I hummed.
As I was already in the dining room munching food. Suddenly my plate was snatched from my hand. I turn around to see Khloe eating from my plate I glared at her, she just ignored me. I was hungry so I took another plate and filled it with food instead of arguing with her. This plate was also snatched from me, now I turned to see Charlotte eating my second plate.
I glared at both of them. Charlotte is 15 and Reece is 16, I know they are twins but their birthday is on 31 December and Reece was born on 11:59, and Charlotte was born on 12:01. Khloe is 14. I sighed and stood up.
I ruffled both of their head getting a scowl from each of them in return. I suppressed a smile and headed to the door.
"Where are you going ?"Khloe asked.
"To pack hospital," I replied.
"Why, what happened? Who got hurt?"Both of them asked simultaneously.
"Zes, She is unconscious," I told them with a sad smile.
"You know, the first time I saw her she was unconscious and now also, you sure do have a clumsy mate," Khloe said amused.
I let out a chuckle and nodded. I turned around to open the door. As soon as I stepped out both those both ran behind me.
"We want to visit Zes too" They chorused.
I hummed in response and walked towards the pack hospital. We reached after 5 minutes, I guess.
I glanced at Zes, She was still pale. I sighed and went sat next to her like before. I caressed her cheek and a sad smile crawled to my face.
"Damm, She looks hot." Charlotte commented.
"The silver platinum hair looks good on her, it suits her." Khloe chimed.
I was about to say something but I was interrupted by someone who barged open the door. I stood protectively around the girls, while Charlotte and Khloe were doing the same around Zes.
I let myself relax when I noticed it was James. He glanced at the three of us and stared at us amused. He was brought back to reality when Charlotte and Khloe smacked his head and grinned satisfied.
"Owie!" James shrieked while rubbing his head, making the girls roll their eyes and I let out a laugh.
But suddenly something lunged at me, making me lose balance and fall on the ground. It started licking me. God, this 'it' is definitely Wiskey. I took him off my face and placed him on the floor. I got up and dusted myself. I petted Wiskey. Wiskey turned around to find Zes lying around. He let out a whimper and licked her face. I took Wiskey and sat on the chair petting him. The girls asked if they could hold him I nodded and handed him to them.
I looked at James expectantly. He nodded and started talking,
"I did as you told, I did find a scent, I followed it but the scent leads me to a dead body. The person's scent was the same scent but I could smell wolfsbane on him. Since it was not in our pack or Zes's we have nothing to do with it so it's still there untouched. On the way back home this little dude was whimpering out loud so I brought him here. The tranquilizer had some liquid left so we examined it, it contains silver and wolfsbane very strong ones, strong enough to kill any werewolf." He concluded.
I was angry, the fact that my mate is hurt was definitely not helping me calm down. I clenched my fists, my claws were out causing my hand to bleed. James, who noticed it shook my shoulder. I looked at him with my fangs out. I was not able to control it. Ryder is going mad, cause his mate is not responding to him. He is taking control of me. I can't control him. Before I could think of what is happening I lunged at James. James was quick to defend. He dodged my punches and somehow tackled me to ground.
I let out a growl. I could hear the girls screaming and crying. I felt so many arms trying to pull me out of the room. I growled and started clawing them. I couldn't think straight, I just want my mate to calm me down. I want her to get up. I want her to scold me. I want her to talk. I want her to smile. I want her.
I lunged at the people who are trying to hold me back. My body stopped moving at the point of the second when I heard a voice.
"Knox," the voice whispered.
