Chapter 22: We Have A What?!
Raven is a raven. Pretty confusing, no? Let me rephrase that, the human Raven is the bird raven. Makes sense? I have been thinking about this since I woke up. The moon goddess just thought it would be amusing to startle me in my dream.
Dream
I opened my eyes only to close it again. The bright light was hurting my eyes. I opened them again and let them adjust to the surroundings. I noticed a few things, one, I was not in my room, two, I was lying on the ground, and three, the surroundings were bright white. The weird part was I was not freaking out, instead, I was thinking about the part in Harry Potter when he wakes up in a place with similar surroundings. Shaking off the thought, I started studying my surroundings for any threats.
Startling my poor life, my surroundings changed. Now I was standing in between a beautiful forest. The trees, the flowers, the sound of the birds chirping, and the sound of water flowing nearby calmed me down. I snapped my head towards the right when I heard a twig snap. I was greeted by a lady, a beautiful lady. She wore a beige ball gown with a sweetheart neckline that complimented her beauty. She looked like a goddess. There were two wolves on either side of her, one was a white wolf and the other was a black one.
She looked pretty young but the powerful aura around her said otherwise. Her hair, which was similar to mine, was left open. She had a crown on her forehead, it was detailed with designs of a crescent moon on the two sides and it had crystal flower design in the middle. She looks like a goddess, has a powerful aura, has two wolves beside her, and has a crown..... SHIT. She is the moon goddess.
"You took quite some time to figure who I am," She chuckled.
I chuckled nervously and asked, "Not to be rude or something, but why are you here and where am I?"
"Can't a mother meet her daughter?" She asked as she petted the black wolf.
"And calm down I am just visiting you in your dreams," she added.
My life never made sense I am sure I can let this pass.
"I have come to just check if you know who your protector is," She paused and looked at me and then continued "Judging by your reaction you don't know who your protector is. So I am sure you have met Raven. Well, she is one of the most trusted people. Her family has been trustworthy for years and has served me loyally. Each werewolf Queen is assigned a protector, and Raven is yours."
She caressed my cheek and said, "A war awaits you. You are the second Queen. The first Queen died before she could rule. I have a feeling this time it is going to be a different story."
And with that, she disappeared.
Dream ends.
How come I never noticed? The raven is always with me, watching me through the windows while perching on a tree. I guess I should pay her a visit.
I made my way to the washroom and admired myself in the mirror. I stared at the beautiful woman in front of me. My face glowed and my hair was shinier. I continued admiring myself until my eyes fell on the mark. I smiled at it. It was safe to say that it looked hot. It looked like a tattoo of a wolf's face only till its neck and it ended with a claw mard across, inside the call mark there was an initial 'K.E.R'.
"Beautiful isn't it?" A voice asked.
I turned around to find Knox smirking. I rolled my eyes but smiled nevertheless. He wraps his arms around my waist and rests his head on my shoulder.
"Raven is a raven," I informed him with a serious expression.
"Um... Ok," He replied while looking me in the eye through the mirror.
"No, you don't understand... Human Raven is the bird raven," I told him.
"And how do you know this?" He asked me as we walked downstairs.
"I had a dream. The Moon Goddess came to inform me that Raven is my protector and war awaits me," I told him as I poured some cereal for myself.
I felt him tense up a little but he didn't comment. We ate in silence until James came hopping with his laptop from the office room.
"We have a ball," He screamed excitedly.
"A football?! Yes!" Mae cheered.
"We have a what ?!?!?!?" I yelled.... funny thing is Char also yelled the same thing.
Reece was playing PS4 and didn't give a shit of what is happening while James burst out laughing and Knox had an amused reaction. Charlotte rolled her eyes and snatched the laptop from James' hand.
"It says it's for the Alphas and Lunas all over the world meeting the Queen, therefore, we have no part in it," Charlotte says after reading.
"Actually, we do have a part in it," James corrected. "The others will bring their Betas for protection and we all have to go to protect Zes,"
"That's probably the first time something you said made sense," I noticed.
"I might be an idiot but I am gonna be a Beta give me some credit!" He scoffed.
All of us chuckled.
Don't get me wrong I love parties and balls and stuff. But with all the problems going on it's just a bit dangerous. Since the ball is going to be conducted here, we might not have enough guards. I honestly think we don't need guards in the ballroom cause all the powerful members are present and rogues aren't that stupid to attack. But they might attack the pack because the Alpha and Luna are not there.
"When is it?" I asked.
"In one week," Charlotte told slowly.
"WHAT!!" I shrieked.
"How are we supposed to get a dress in one week and it's supposed to fit us!" Charlotte yelled at James.
"Which idiot is conducting this?" I asked.
"Alpha Samuel," James replied with a smile
I smiled sheepishly and said, "Let me rephrase that, which idiot choose the date?"
"I don't know," James said innocently.
"James did," Charlotte snapped.
"He asked me when we were free and not have anything important to do on that day."
"We have to go shopping," I informed them.
"What, no. We don't. You do. I have enough dresses," Mae protested.
"Mae Celeste you got 4 dresses with you," I told her.
"We are going shopping whether you like it or not and call Raven she will also be coming with us," I added.
"Why Raven?" James asked.
"She is my protector," I told them. "No, I am not explaining," I added looking at their confused faces.
Knox chuckled and handed me my black tea. Hey, don't judge me I drink at least one cup of black tea a day.
"When are we leaving?" Knox asked.
"There is no 'we'. Us girls are going alone." I smiled.
"NOPE," Reece, James, and Knox chorused.
"She wasn't asking," Mae informed them.
I noticed Wiskey tapping on the door, wanting to go out. I opened the door for him. He ran outside and started running around. I sat on the steps watching Wiskey play around. In a second he was out of my sight, ugghhh, this guy runs quick. I walked behind my house to find Wiskey and a raven (bird) playing. Noticing my presence Wiskey ran towards me and the raven settled on my shoulder. I noticed the red features on the raven confirming it was Raven.
I walked inside my house, Wiskey following me. I went to my room got some clothes and placed them on the washroom counter.
"After you shift back you can change into these," I informed the bird.
I left the bird on the counter and came out of my room. After a few minutes, Raven came out fully clothed. I smiled and motioned her to follow me.
Other than Knox everyone was shocked to see Raven.
"When did she come here?" James asked.
"Raven is a raven, I mean human Raven is the bird raven," I told them.
"So, Raven, we have a ball next week so we are going shopping and you are coming with us," I told her making the poor girl more confused.
I chuckled and told Charlotte to explain this confused girl. I am pacing here and there searching for Knox's car keys. He hid it. You may be wondering why I can't take James's jeep the reason is that it is also hidden. I glared at him making him chuckle. The funny part is I can read his mind and but this idiot is not thinking anything about the keys.
"If you don't tell me where the keys are, I will walk to the mall," I told him.
"You won't. You are a lazy human you won't," He smirked.
I growled at him. He was right. I looked at Char and Mae who were both laughing. Raven was eating the cupcakes Mae baked earlier.
"Search," I snapped at them.
"Knox Everrret Knight, hand over the key," I glared at him.
He shook his head. I scowled at him. 'Wiskey's collar' Zene told. I smirked at him making him confused.
"Wiskey, come to mama," I called out making Knox's eyes widen.
Wiskey came running with his best friend in his mouth, a tiny teddy bear. I found the keys hanging on his collar. I took it and walked to Knox and whispered in his ear, "It's three against one, baby."
Kissing his cheek I walk away. This going to be one long day, I sighed.
RAVEN'S P.O.V
I think it's safe to say I am allergic to people. Looking at these people at the mall I want to run away but since we are shopping and I like shopping I am staying.
Zes is a fun person, she is cheerful and partially introverted and partially extroverted while Mae is a quiet person but she is a nice person and Charlotte is shy at first but after you get to know her she is nice. Nice group of friends Zes has got.
Right now, Zes and I are pulling Mae and Charlotte into different stores, making them try on dresses. It's fun with friends...
"Mae, try this on," I hand her a purple strapless gown.
She looked unsure but hesitantly took it from me and went to the dressing room. I sent a questioning look to Zes.
"She likes her dresses to be comfortable, she doesn't like strapless" She informed me.
I frowned. I started looking for strapped gowns. I heard the dressing room door open revealing Mae looking uncomfortable as ever. I gasped when I saw a dress which was perfect for Mae. Squeaking, I handed the dress to Mae. Mae smiled at me taking the dress and Zes chuckled at how excited I am.
"Charlotte, try this on," Zes handed her a beautiful dress.
Charlotte jumped and ran into the dressing room. I smiled and waited for both of them to come out. Mae was out first, she looked so pretty in this dress and she didn't show any discomfort while I was observing her Zes announced, "You're getting that."
I laughed at her bossy nature and nodded at Mae. Next came out Charlotte came out smiling brightly.
"I am getting this!" She squeaked as she spun around in her dress.
"Now we need two more dresses, one for Raven and one for me," Zes said.
"I want a red dress," I announced.
"I want a dress which a Queen would wear," Zes said after thinking.
Mae, Zes, and Charlotte started gathering all the red dresses they found. I glanced at the options in front of me. A beautiful off-shoulder dress caught my attention. I gasped and pointed at it.
"I knew you would choose this," Zes smirked in triumph.
I wore the dress and fell in love with it even more. I checked the price and my smile fell, disappointment consumed me. I walk out with a disappointed look. Zes frowned at me and asked, "What happened, don't you like the dress?"
"It's too expensive," I sighed.
"I am paying for all of your dresses don't worry," She rolled her eyes.
"No," We all chorused.
"I wasn't asking," She rolled her eyes.
I frowned at this girl. But it's too expensive...
"Come on, we need to hurry, we need to shop for shoes too," Zes informed.
"What about your dress?" Mae asked.
"I think I found the dress," She points to a beautiful ball gown.

After a long tiring day, we reached Zes's house. We entered the house to see all three men passed out on the couch while Wiskey was in a bundle of blanket watching Cinderella with keen interest. Zes jumped on Knox making him groan but nonetheless hugged her in his sleep, while Mae and Charlotte kicked James and Reece out of the couch and laid down, both of them let out a groan but James went back to sleep on the floor while Reece got up and left to his room I assume.
"Aren't, you tired? It's 3 in the morning," Mae asked.
"I don't sleep," I said with a slight smile.
"What," I heard from multiple people.
"You heard me, I can't sleep, anyway guys, goodnight," I said before shifting into my bird form.
I flap my wings and fly outside. I fly around as usual looking for threats. I always sense someone's presence but I can't find the person. I fly around cautiously.
