Chapter 10: Fit For A King - Part 1

Zotes few green eyes gave Cleff a good stare before pointing to a few bodies he had thrown to the side. After gesturing his wrapped arms about for a bit Zote turned back to the corpse pile and started inspecting the bodies again mumbling incoherently as he poked an prodded each one.

Cleff was starting to doubt the sanity of his newfound helper.

Zote seemed relatively normal when Cleff had first met him, well, as normal as one could get in this strange world. But as soon as a few corpses were put in front of him Zote rushed over and began doing strange things.

It was almost as if he was possessed.

Sighing Cleff gave Zote a good stare for a few moments before walking away to begin digging graves. Even though he had only just met his new " employee" Cleff trusted the mummy enough to allow him to do whatever.

Although Cleff was planning to give Zote a good talking to if he was just acting weird.

Soon the sounds of Cleff digging joined Zotes strange incoherent mumbling.

-------

After sorting through the rather large pile for a while Zote had finally found what he had been looking for.

After poking and prodding a specific deceased for a bit his green eyes lit up and he let out a screech of victory.

Startled Cleff almost fell into the grave he was digging off in the distance. Turning around he gave Zote a concerned stare for a bit before resuming his gravedigging duties.

Of course Zote couldn't care less about what Cleff thought at the moment, and started to hum happily as he dragged the deceased middle aged man he had taken a liking to to his work station.

Giving the candles a polite nod Zote waddled over to the workstation he had so hastily put together after he had arrived.

A few strange metallic tables stood around in a circle covered in strangle looking tools and saws. To the side of the mess stood Zotes impossibly large bag. Strangly enough, even after Zote had taken out a garage's worth of tools and foldable tables from the thing it still seemed to remain full to the brim.

And of course in the middle of it all was a rather special table. Unlike the others that had been hastily assembled Zote had taken his time when assembling this specific table. And unlike the other tables that were completely covered in tools and random items, there was not a anything on this specific table. Not even a speck of dust.

This table seemed held no purpose whatsoever.

Whats the point of a table unless your going to place things on it ?

Well... the table held no purpose until Zote very carefully placed a very specific man onto it.

Running off to one of the other workbenches Zote fumbled around for a bit. Only after searching through the organized mess he had created for himself for a few minutes, did he return to the center with a few strange measurement sticks and a book.

Taking his time, Zote measured the man using his strange rulers taking great care to get as accurate a measurement as possible. Moving the man around as he systematically waved his sticks around, Zote measured everything.

From shoe size to head width Zote was only satisfied after he had measured every single bit of the mans body from head to toe. Recording everything into his notebook Zote looked over each number a few times before scurrying over to another of his workbenches.

As Zote waddled away a sigh of relief almost escaped from the corpses mouth. After all Zotes inspection was so thorough and tedious it annoyed even the dead.

Sitting himself down at a metallic swivel chair Zote spread out a few pieces of paper and took out a few reddish pencils and pens. Occasionally referring to his measurements Zote took his time going back and forth drawing quite a few unique variations of what seemed to be a coffin. Occasionally talking to one of Cleff's candles he had placed onto this specific desk Zotes inspiration ran wild.

From coffins adorned with lions and roses, to oddly shaped caskets and boxes Zote drew everything.

Zote wanted to make sure he designed a perfect coffin for the man he had chosen. After all his coffins were fit for a king to sleep in, and only a king was worthy of resting in his coffins.
