Chapter 46: And So, Cerberus Is Out

I said all that but I'm almost a little worried. Even though the dungeon is only a low level one with just mere kobolds, it's still a stretch to believe it'll go the exact way I want it to. That Kobold dungeon has been there for years, attracting new adventurers and yet, many bronze class adventurers still get fatally injured, die, or go missing. That can't just be chucked up under them just being weak.

There must be a reason why 50% of bronze adventurers suffer in some way from something that's just supposed to be a weak sauce low leveled dungeon. If I had to say, I'd guess there was a Kobold chieftain in there, yet there hasn't been any proof or sighting listed in the dungeon description. Probably because all the ones who faced it were most likely killed before they could say anything.

I'll have to check it out before taking them down there. Perhaps Larien can handle it, but I don't fully understand the limits and potential of the others. That being said, I doubt there'll be anything that I can't completely handle inside an F rank dungeon.

"Master,"

Damocles pulls me from my thoughts. Judging by his tone he seems a bit frustrated. I hope it's not the knights or the tower mages again. I got reports that occasionally a knight from the order, or a mage from the tower would accompany a group of adamantium class adventurers in their attempts to raid Aeolia while I was away, but would somehow always end up as the only survivors of the raiding party. They're definitely up to something, but right now I don't really have enough time to be concerned about the schemes and affairs of ants. I have to use my time wisely in these coming eight years here. If a worm wants to pick a fight, I'll be more than happy to squash it under my boot.

"What is it?" I ask.

"Master," Damocles starts, tenser than he usually is. "Young master Cerberus was summoned as you ordered, but he refused to speak to anyone other than you."

"I see,"

Tsk! Looks like that kid is still acting stubborn even here.

"Alright, I'll head to his territory." I sigh, getting up from the throne I had been resting on. "Ask the twins and Agamemnon to see me once I get back."

"Yes master," Damocles responded.

As I make my way to the far west side of Aeolia, I can't help but think I may have spoiled Cerberus too much. When I first got him, I was so excited I couldn't stop myself from floundering resources and materials on him. I even allowed his initial character settings to remain as a clingy, mischievous child. At the time it was understandable- I mean I practically raised him. In fact, officially he's my son, and the heir to Aeolia. I think it was around the time I reached level 99. That should be when I was still in Middle School probably, and I used to grind every single day during and after school. So when I received my first major milestone reward, I guess I overdid it. Plus it did take three whole years for him to finally hatch, it's no wonder I let him get this far gone.

I sigh again as I reach his cave hidden on the highest mountain in the area. This entire space reeks with magical energy. What has this kid been up to?

"Cerberus," I call, not really willing to enter the cave as it is now.

In less than a second, his large black scaled body appeared slowly out of the cave. It's been a while since I've seen this hulking brat. Cerberus, the King of Dragons. Since he's a real living organism now, then I can finally scold him.

"You brat, didn't I order you to watch the skies at night?" I say. "I heard you haven't been out of your cave since you guys arrived here."

"Father!" He squeals, magical energy forming, as he changes into his human form. "Father! It's really you! You're here! I knew you didn't leave me! Vanir! That lying bitch!"

"Oi did you even hear a word I said?"

Cerberus stops to stare at me silently, before tears start to drip from his eyes, and a smile spreads on his lips. "I've missed you master."

Oh yeah. Now I remember why I could never be so strict with Cerberus. He always knew how to act cute at the most unexpected times.

"Okay okay, I'm here," I let out a sigh as I pat his head gently. "There's no need to cry. I'm not going anywhere."

"... Mister Agamemnon said you had come back... but Venir said Agamemnon just wanted me to come out of my cave and take over my duties to rule over Aeolia because you would never be returning." Cerberus mutters between tiny sniffles, as he clings to my waist.

Hah~ That woman. When he gets like this, Cerberus won't leave my side for at least a week. How am I supposed to go to school now? Maybe I can make this go in my favor.

"Okay Cerberus," I start. "Do you want to help me with something like we usually do?"

"... Are we burning down another country?" Cerberus asks with a sparkle of enthusiasm and excitement in his eyes.

"No not this time. Since this is a new place we'll have to tone down our activities a bit," I state, starting to feel a little guilty for why he's so mischievous.

"Then what is it?"

"It's only a low level dungeon, but do you want to help me with a dungeon raid?"

"I'll go anywhere you go!" He says with joy, finally releasing his grip around my waist.

"There are a few more things to do, but if it's you I'm sure you can handle it."

"Of course~" Cerberus chimes, now dawning his usual mischievous grin.

"Good. I have to meet with Agamemnon right now, so have Damocles catch you up on what has happened since your arrival. What do I always say?"

"Whether on or off the battlefield, information is always the deciding factor." He states, quoting one of the lessons I've instilled into him.

Right, that should ease him into it a little. I hope he doesn't throw one of his tantrums once he learns I have to leave everyday to go to school with humans. And hopefully, he'll be willing to help me with training my team.
