Chapter 8: CHAPTER 8: ZARAH AND ZAINAB

JESSICA'S POV

I felt a hand tapping me. I opened my eyes, and saw Sam bent over, tapping me repeatedly.

"We've arrived" he said as soon as he realized my eyes were opened.

I hurriedly got up, and cleaned my eyes with the back of my palm. I scrambled to get my headscarf out of my bag, ready to move. I noticed Sam study me for a moment before he chuckled.

I huffed at him annoyed "Do I look that amusing to you?"

He regained his composure, but there was still a little smile on his face.

"What's that for?" He answered, gesturing to my scarf.

"My hair obviously, isn't this the way they dress around here, I wouldn't want to stick out"

He grabbed my scarf from my head, and tossed it back at me.

"You stick out even more by putting it on. It's also not necessary"

I frowned at his action "Really? But I rea----"

"Put it if you want to, why do I even bother? The only thing I'm saying is, contrary to what you think, there is no obligation here to put on a scarf, it's a thing of choice, and individual belief that's all"

I nodded obediently, due to my exhaustion, and put the scarf away into my bag.

Immediately after, a man stuck his head slightly into the plane.

"Lahzat min fadlik (Just a moment please)"

I looked at Sam, who had just spoken something to the man, to which he nodded, and left.

"What did you say?"

He rolled his eyes, not bothering to even answer me, before he left the plane.

I followed after him, and also dropped from the plane.

The first thing I noticed was the mildly hot environment, before I looked ahead, and saw Sam already waiting for me in front of a limousine"

I slipped in gently, without wasting any more of his time. He looked already agitated, and I didn't feel up to the task of worsening it.

We rode for quite a while, before the car finally came to a halt.

He dropped first before I did.

"Wow" I spoke aloud. The architectural design here is really a masterpiece. It looks acient, but at the same time has a touch of modernity. The walls were stone walls. It was like an empire. From where I stood I could see many imposing buildings around. I wonder how big this place would be. I was in so much awe of the place, I had to ask Sam.

"Do you live here?"

He looked at me briefly, before he shrugged.

"I guess" his less than enthusiastic answer surprised me, but there was no way I was letting moody Sam ruin my mood.

"Follow me" he gestured towards me, to which I happily went along with. I could see him slightly shake his head, probably because of my enthusiasm.

He led me into one of the buildings. I thought the outside was great, but this inside is just pure magnificence.

"Is this good?"

I faintly heard some voices say.

I was so carried away, I didn't notice the people bowing, and passing, nor the two girls that stood in front of me until I bumped into Sam.

"Ouch. Sorry" I muttered, embarrassed at my actions, while rubbing my forehead slightly.

The two girls that stood directly in front of me, were exact replicas of Sam in the girl version.

The same pointed nose, grey eyes, and narrow jaw bone. They must be his sisters.

"You didn't tell us you were bringing a guest" the taller one of the two spoke.

"Zarah! Don't be rude to my guest"

She only crossed her arms, and huffed at me. Why do I feel she doesn't like me?

"Is this how you greet your big brother after so many weeks?"

It was then a smile overtook both their faces, and they ran to hug him.

"Okay, okay" he laughed, before they released him from their grip.

I cleared my throat, in the bid to remind them I was still standing there.

"Aren't you going to introduce us Sam?" I asked.

The shorter one spoke up this time, after she heard me.

"Who's Sam" Sam just sighed before replying, I could feel he was exhausted. Hah! He could faint from exhaustion for all I care.

"It's just a silly alias she calls me. Where is Hassan?" he asked them, completely changing the topic.

The taller one whispered something into his ear. His expression immediately changed into a frown, before he nodded. When she was finished, he turned his head to look at me.

"Essi meet Zarah," he pointed to the taller one, who was still frowning at me. It made me feel a little uneasy. "And Zainab, my sisters" Zainab looked more welcoming, and less intimidating than Zarah, even though neither of them smiled towards me.

"Meet Essi…. Em, I mean Jessica Williams, my business partner"

I managed a smile at them, which was once again ignored, and met with glares.

"Is she the Essi you talked about?" before Zainab could even get an answer from Sam, Zarah interjected "The one you said had a nasty attitude?"

My eyes opened wide at the last part "What?" I spoke aloud before I even realized I did.

He ran his hand down his face, a gesture he mostly did when he was agitated. "Show Essi to her room, I need to go find Hassan"

He hurried away after saying that. I guess I have to deal with being left alone with his two sisters that obviously dislike me.

"Follow me" Zarah told me in a stoic voice. I obediently followed after her. And to think that I deluded myself that, I would make this trip hell for him. I need to make a mental note never to plan battles in the enemy's house. I just hope I make it out of here unscathed. If I had known I would get this kind of reaction, I would have just stayed in a hotel instead.

Thankfully she led me to my room and left without saying a word to me. I gently settled in, and told the maid who brought my things that she could leave.

The room was very nice, it has a big king sized bed, along with an antique bedside table. The dark blue carpet in front of the bed, was really hairy, and soft.

I felt the bed calling me, and I couldn't wait to just fall on it, and sleep off my exhaustion.
