Chapter 30: Finally! here in the Capital (3)

They were quickly galloping their way to the Knight's Headquarters to meet a person of high valor. The Captain knight of the Lancaster Army and Territory. 'Sir Wymer' Lee Son second most liked person inside the novel 'THE CONQUEST OF ZERO'.

He liked him because he could really relate to this man since 'Sir Wymer' was on par with his age and, coincidently, they have the same mindsets. There was some part of the novel where Lee Son agreed with Sir Wymer as he let out his thoughts regarding certain matters.

Lee Son also thought that 'Sir Wymer' is a cool minor character even though he has little interaction with the main cast. Him, being a loyal companion, a Swordmaster, and a reliable person was something that Lee Son deeply appreciate. As this was the type of person he would really want to keep on by his side no matter what.

And another reason was that 'Sir Wymer' is far most the most normal character in the book. Which is one of the very reasons why Lee Son likes him very much.

-------

Xarth and Olivea were only a few meters away from the Knights Headquarters. When they were suddenly stopped by a group of ghost-like creatures on their way to Sir Wymer.

"What the heck!" Xarth blurted out his thoughts, he was shooked by the sudden appearance of those creatures.

Their appearance is what a person would normally look like, though the only difference was that they were completely pale, has razor-sharp hands, and red eyes that are full of hatred of their own kind. Humans. Yes, it was a group of 'Wanderers' ready to spread pain and despair to others who wronged them of their rights.

'Wanderers!?, what the hell are they doing here!? Don't tell me...the Magic barrier really wore off?!' Xarth believed that was actually the case that is currently happening right now, as he couldn't think of another reason other than that.

'Art! Behind you!' Soleis screamed to inform Xarth of the incoming attack from his back.

Xarth was unable to hear those words from Soleis faster, resulting in him unable to move swiftly to avoid the Wanderers attack.

*SLAAAAAAAASSSSSHH

The Wanderers let out a snicker at the thought that they finally inflicted pain on a human that wronged them of their rights. Though, the target that was supposed to be diced by the Wanderers was nowhere to be seen. Only a mark of their razor-sharp hands can be clearly seen on the ground where Xarrth was supposed to be standing on.

It was Olivea. Luckily, she quickly pulled Xarth out of the range of the Wanderers' attack. Preventing him to be diced up into tiny bits of pieces.

"Thank y-" He didn't finish his reply, since Olivea tightly gripped her hand onto Xarth's. "Young master Xarth run!" she roared as she swiftly ran towards the Knights Headquarters with her holding onto Xarth's slender hands.

*AURGGHHHHH

The Wanderers let out a scream...

This made the group of Wanderers more furious because of the humans that avoided their attack. 3 Wanderers went into pursuit and hunted down the two humans who escaped their grasp.

The two ran and ran until they saw a glimpse of their destination.

It was the Knights Headquarters...

From the outside, the building looks luxurious. It has been built with burgundy bricks and has white brick for decorations. Small, rounded windows were added to the overall look of the Knights Headquarters where it was created on a symmetrical pattern. The exterior design was intricate it is truly handcraft by a fine man's hand.

The building is shaped in a rectangle form that is 4 stories high.

The roof is high and slanted to one side and is covered with grey roof tiles. One large flag pole was beside the building showcasing the Lancaster Household crest.

In front of the building was the soldier's training ground where a large number of soldiers are currently preparing their pieces of equipment for what's about to come off of the distress signal that was triggered that morning.

"HEY!!"

A yell that came out of nowhere was instantly noticed by some of the soldiers busy preparing their equipment. They immediately headed their gaze upon the direction where they heard the yell. The soldiers could clearly see 2 humans a man and a woman running towards them, with a frantic look on their faces. The soldiers also notice 3 white shadow-like creatures chasing them with their razor-sharp arms ready to tear them to pieces.

Immediately one of the knights ordered the soldiers to help those two people. "Wanderers! Help the citizen!" he screamed as he pointed his sword in their direction.

Xarth witnessing this was quickly relieved to have finally arrived at their destination.

A group of soldiers rushed at the approaching two humans with fully equip armor.

The soldiers were wearing a set of armor, a hood with a faceguard with two rounded holes leaving the eyes minimally exposed. Attached to its side is a layer of chainmail.

The shoulders are fairly oval, short, and enormous. They're decorated with a crafted leather owl head on each side, both pointing outwards.

The upper arms are protected by rounded, layered metal rerebraces which sit well under the shoulder plates. The lower arms are covered by vambraces which have a dagger attached on the outer sides.

The breastplate is made from various layers of rounded crafted leather. It covers everything from the neck down and ending at the groin, but there's a fairly wide neckline that is somewhat exposed.

The upper legs are covered by rounded, fully covering cuisses. The lower legs are protected by leather shin guards which have a masterfully crafted bird's upper beak attached on each outer top side. Thin leather pants are worn beneath this all.

They also have a sword on their right hand, the blade itself was simple, with no decorations or engraved patterns, but the blade will surely be useful in a ferocious battle.

This was the weapon used by the soldiers of a renowned Martial Household in one of the Kingdoms here in the Southern Continent.

Furthermore, they were carrying shields on their left hands made out of wood, leather, and rawhide materials. That can safely deflect any type of attack on a normal setting. Like sword, spears, dagger, and other blunt weapons. Though if the shield were up against a Magician or any type of monster that uses Elemental spell then that's a different story.

"Please, let us handle this" One of the soldiers on leather armor assured Xarth and Olivea as they courageously fight off the Wanderers to fulfill their duty being a soldier and fellow citizen of the City of Clona or also known as 'City of Life'.

The two safely arrived at the Knights Headquarters to meet with the Captain knight of the Lancaster Army. They were currently on the training grounds where that person is currently instructing and commanding others to move for their Territoriy's safety.

He wore a set of armor that has a flat top helm with a faceguard shaped in the face of a lion. Attached to its side are two curled animal horns.

The shoulders are fairly pointy, quite short, and fairly small in size. They're decorated with a small shield on each side, facing downwards.

The upper arms are protected by rounded, half-covering rerebraces that sit loosely under the shoulder plates. The lower arms are covered by vambraces which have a curved animal bone attached to each outer side, the bone curves upwards towards the shoulder.

The breastplate is made from several separate pieces that are layered on top of each other. It covers everything from the neck down and ending at the groin.

The upper legs are covered by squared, fully covering cuisses. The lower legs are protected by greaves which have a layer of chainmail covering the outer sides.

His brown, shoulder-length hair slightly reveals on the helm he wore, his brown eyes peeking out at the faceguard shaped like a lion was very fierce and upright.

He was 'Sir Wymer' by his waist was a fairly short, broad, curved blade made of steel is held by a grip wrapped in uncommon, gray stingray leather.

A sharp, dual-edged blade makes this weapon the best choice for both cleaving and stabbing your enemies with ferocious power.

The blade has a narrow, warped cross-guard, creating the ideal weight balance to allow for smooth and accurate swings with this blade. The cross-guard has a lavish tooth on each side, this is clearly a weapon not meant to be wielded by a commoner.

'Woah!! He looks strong!!' The light elemental commented on Wymer's outside appearance.

"Yeah., he's unquestionably strong." Xarth quietly replied to Soleis who was impressed by the man shining amongst the men at that moment

Xarth gracefully approached the man who was really eye-catching to the eyes of any commoner. Though probably not as he is currently Xarth Barrows the youngest son of a wealthy household, not Lee Son your average reader.

"Sir Wymer, thank you for your assistance," Xarth commented to the man who is currently busy ordering people around.

Wymer headed his attention towards the man they helped. He could see him wearing a white shirt with a straight line of bloodstain from the collar till the front of it. Bright platinum hair flutter from the winds and his deep blue eyes set elegantly upon his sockets.

"Are you by any chance a nobleman?" Wymer asked in a respectful as he doesn't know the man's stature and what to address him.

Xarth just smiled at him. "Yes, it is a pleasure to meet you, Sir Wymer. I'm Xarth Barrows the youngest son of Count Richard Barrows" he introduces himself with his usual smile on his pretty face.

Wymer immediately bowed. "I'm Wymer, as you have known. I am the Captain Knight of the 'Lixior' Army of the Ducal Household." he added.

He lifted his head and glances at Xarth. "*Cough, So...Um, Young master, what are you doing here? It's dangerous outside right now. You must stay at the castle with the Duke." He mentioned since it was unusual for a nobleman to be out in the woods. Furthermore, there are currently Wanderers outside that particular day that can screw you up.

Xarth placed his hand upon his neck. "About that..."

"Captain!" A knight came back with tattered clothes and was breathing quite heavily.

Wymer headed his gaze upon the knight. "The Duke has been detained by the 'Royal Knights'." One of the knights in the metal-plated armor like what Wymer was wearing announced with a frantic look across his face.

At that moment, everyone fell into silence.

"W-what did you say?" Wymer stuttered as he had heard those words from his colleague.

'There's my answer! So they really detained him? But what about the other four?' Xarth was thinking about Harold, Ezekiel, Lex, and Zero. Who were definitely capable in the arts of fighting.

'But then again, they are facing off 10 'Royal Knights' that is already one step closer to a Swordmaster level. Zero would unquestionably lose that fight since he doesn't have much experience fighting against his own kind. Though, that doesn't explain how he killed all those robed people in his village. I guess he was just really consumed by rage to have done that.' Xarth pondered this as he watches everyone turn gloomy in the midst of the chaos surrounding them.

The soldier's and knight's morale were going down since they just heard the news of their leader being kept by the 'Royal Knights'. Giving them the impression that the Duke might have done something unpleasant for him to be arrested by the King's most trusted individuals.

Wymer tightened his grip on his sword by his waist. "No! Duke Jidek isn't that type of person. There must be a reason for this to happen, do not doubt our leader. For now, we must focus on defense." he screamed to get those thoughts out of the soldiers and knight's head. Since it was not the time to be gloomy as there is currently a swarm of Wanderers inside their territory. Creating havoc and despair inside the city and its citizen.

Slowly but surely their worries disappeared and yelled their hearts out to gain a boost of their morale back. To be able to defend their territory from unwanted visitors.

Xarth directs his gaze to his back because it was quiet. There was supposed to be a woman with blue hair and pink eyes standing behind him.

Yet Olivea was nowhere to be seen around the perimeter of the training grounds.

"Where did Olivea go?" Xarth asked this to himself because he was surprised that Olivea was gone.

To be continued...
